Hi meepo just to clarify this video is not a review or is bashing your product it’s a great board with good specs for the price it was more to show people that you can upgrade this board in the future as there’s a lot of headroom with the battery that’s in it 👍🏼 I can’t really fault the board only thing I would change is the bushings but at this price point I wouldn’t exspect there to be the best bushing in it. Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing what the hurricane 2.0 brings 👍🏼

Is there a chance that larger then needed motors were used for durability / longevity reasons ? I know from 2 years experience on a Stoke that evolve GTR motors ( example of small motors ) last about 1-ish year untill motor shaft wobble, bearing(s), and the 3 exterior retention screws holding the motor together loosening off, all become a serious problem preventing riding. Motor screws are so small, soft, and loose fitting ( with allen key ) that they cannot be re-tightened.
@rickyeverett
@rickyeverett 2 жыл бұрын
The motor are large because it makes the board look more powerful than it is, and to neewbies that sells boards even tho they are 6374 motors they aren’t very powerful ones and are probably very cheap a good quality motor even a 6354 motor will out perform this boards motors and will only get slightly warm to the touch it’s simply done to sell boards hope this helps

The bushings aren’t bad you know you could tighten them to your likening. Its more because they are double kingpin so beginners aren’t able to max out the speed on their boards due to speed wobble. Some actual flaws you could’ve pointed out are the tires, truck plate cover but overall the board is a beast. And also Focbox tenka is so outdated there are way better VESC on the market do your research pls.
@rickyeverett
@rickyeverett 2 жыл бұрын
Obviously 🙄 the bushings are bad and you obviously don’t know what your talking about as having loose trucks on double kingpins doesn’t mean you can’t max a board out speed wise, and if you think the board is a beast you are the rookie the board is slow and underpowered ie that’s why it could do with a VESC in it to actually give the board some grunt ! Oh and the tenka/ unity is a true and tried motor controller there is nothing wrong with it why would you be stupid enough to spend twice as much money on a motor controller that does the same thing 😂😂 think you need to do your research bud hope this video educated you abit on diy 🤦🏻‍♂️

@@rickyeverett So how am I able to go 35mph with a 6.5inch 55T gear setup with no issue? It’s called having skill. There’s also another key it’s called balance, sure the riptides definitely give the board better performance but if you don’t have the proper balance then you will obviously lack stability. And thank you for calling me a rookie I have been esk8ing for 3 years so definitely have been through it all. For the VESC esc the Focbox tenka has been known to have a lot of issues all throughout Reddit and esk8 forums so definitely recommend the updated ones. FYI The board is definitely not slow has a really good hill climb and the acceleration on the Hurricane(Tesla Plaid) is definitely more insane than the Hadean (Tesla model Y). And please don’t forget this is a production board. I understand DIYers don’t respect them however Meepo is production based and you really have to appreciate how great they started off for their first all terrain board. Also no need for the negativity it just brings you a bad impression. Positivity is key just remember that

Question for you, Ricky: you mentioned the Tenka would be a good VESC upgrade for the Hurricane, but I see that the Tenka can only handle 70A Continuous Motor Current per channel, whereas many of the 6374 motors max out at 85A. Is this an issue? I don't pretend to understand electronics very well, but I'd hate to buy something just to have it not be able to fully utilize my motors. Also, would a Tenka be compatible with the stock Hurricane motors? Or would I have to get aftermarket motors for that as well. Great review by the by, cheers :)

The motor size does matter especially when it comes to heat dissipation, the motor itself is acting as a heat sink. I’m rocking 200mm pneumatics and 66T pulley on my DKP belt driven Meepo Hurricane and it eats hills for breakfast, I never have a problem getting to 30mph and my motors are always running cool. 1000% agree on swapping the bushings (especially if your Hurricane is DKP) and swapping out to a VESC does wonders. Just make sure you have access to a person/computer to dial said VESC and know that with the cost of the VESC and new remote you’ll be spending an additional $250 which isn’t that bad given the insanely reasonable price you can buy a Hurricane. I don’t even see how they’re making money. Truly the most performance for your money in the eskate market. Ten outta ten, highly recommend!

IF it compromises range, then i understand. thats why i like the hadean, zeus, and the titan x so much. GREAT power, speed; and range all together. i think companies are now startn to really understand the BALANCE importance now: the balance of a all around good performance board.. i still love my hurricane too tho lol. they all have there place. i finally had one of my production boards beat the hurricane the other day too! lol. comin sooonn

Really depends on your weight. The stock bushings on the Meepo Hurricane are the stiffest stock bushings I have seen on DKPs. Also, when they are new they perform quite well and I am 80kgs. The primary weakness of the stock bushings is how quickly they degrade. After several hundred miles, the bushings don’t respond as well and are permanently compressed a few mm.

 @Ricky Everett I have been on Esk8 for almost 1 year. I'm in my 40's and weigh 240 pounds. My top top is 34 mph. I have my rides logged and publicly shared on the app called "Skateboard GPS". I don't consider myself a highly skilled ESK8er so when you guys go off on the bushings in all of your videos it does seem to me that you are being unfair or biased. Like maybe its just not the type of bushings you are used to riding. Watching your last three Meepo videos was a bit of a let down. You have spent far more time covering the negatives than the positives. Seems weird.

Hey dude I’m sorry that you feel that way and I can assure you the videos are not meant to come across negative towards meepo at all maybe I should do a stand alone review of the board as I have so many positives about this board the only issue I had with the bushings is they are stable slow speeds for caving ect but when I hit top speed on the board and released the scroll wheel the board wobbled all over the place this is something that I have not experienced on any other boards that I have ridden or built this is actually quite dangerous again this could have just been the bushings on this particular unit we have but I can only go on my experience that I had on this board. The bushings play a major part of the way a boards feels and responds to your movements and riding experience and definitely shouldn’t be skimped out on this particular video wasn’t meant to be negative it was to actually show that if you own one going forward you have a real killer board that can be upgraded in the future again I’m sorry for your disappoint dude

you are putting a tanka in that. Also, it is not a hot plug esc, u need to know the BMS specs...... SMH... Also, the stock hurricane bushings are decent enough to ride at max speed. U r not pointing out the actual cons of the board, instead, just throw in some random nitpicking.

@@AKA_TY37 Lol.. That’s what the full review is for which is a separate video 🙄. Where does this say it’s a review ? Attitudes like yours are exactly what’s wrong with SOME of the eskate community. Keep preventing your own sport from growing buddy… Imagine how much you’d achieve in life if you were positive and constructive instead of leaving unhelpful comments and trying negative !? Thanks for watching regardless. Every view counts. See you in the comments of our next upload, I know you’ll be watching 😘

@@averageeskatereviews buddy, u r pointing out not bad parts and pretending it to be bad. LIke i said. Your history already showed everything man. Sad to see such a decent channel fall apart into some biased ads. btw, ive been a follower since the beginning of 2020. So yes, all the BS yall did, i know about.

It’s not a video bashing meepo it’s just a few things I would personally change on the board as it’s a great candidate for being upgraded in the further I don’t personally care for what brand it is as I have no favourite due to the fact that I like building my own, so not sure why you seem to have such a bad attitude 🤷🏻‍♂️
