I'm a bright fire medic. Josh just proved my suspicion. Certain communities seem to never go to the doctor or know what kind of medical history they have. I went to a chest pain call for a Mack fella in his 60s. Sounded like a heart attack to me. I asked if he had any medical history, and he looked me dead in the eye and said "Naw", and that he hasn't been to the doctor in 20 years. I pulled up his shirt to put the cardiac electrodes on his chest. I did a double take. Twice. Maybe even three times. Dude had a VERY wide zipper scar from his neck to his belly. I could see at least 2 different scars overlayed. I asked him what that was. Could be emergency surgery, could be an old cardiac surgery, could be a hobby. I don't know. He said, "Oh that?!?! Thats from my heart something and blood thing from back in '93 And I got stuns." At the hospital, we found out he had an abdominal aortic aneurysm (98% fatal), which caused a quadruple bypass surgery due to a heart attack (50% fatal), and a total of 6 cardiac STENTS in his coronary blood vessles (numerous events of 20% fatal). I wrote all that down for him, folded it up, and put it in his wallet. I instructed him the next medical person he sees... he was to hand them that paper before they even figure out if he was male. First. Pronto. Folks ask your doctor to give you a list of your medical history JUST IN CASE. It makes my job easier and safer, and helps you survive a bad situation. Also, just be safe. I don't want to meet any of you while I'm at work. In a bad way, that is. LOL

Even if you can recite your history it's a good idea of your K.O or head rung right, you might not be able to recall it that day at the time you need it
@KelleyBroussardMackaig3 жыл бұрын
That was such a sweet thing for you to write all that down for him - then to put it into his wallet just in case he should have another episode in the future. It sounds like you are an exceptional medic, who goes the extra mile out of nothing but genuine care and concern. I'm also guessing that you probably don't get nearly enough of the recognition and gratitude that you are so clearly deserving of, and I'd also guess that part doesn't matter to you - because you do this job out of the sincere kindness in your heart. People like you are the reason why I believe that there are angels among us.

Been 20 years. 21 actually. Ain't seen a real reason to bother. Forty years old. 3 kids. 26 year old wife still happy. Wake up every day. Hurt myself enough as a kid to know what's serious and what isn't. As my great grandfather would say, "Most things are long way from your heart." Seems like it's worked so far.

I'm already broken enough to know what level of chronic pain is worth going to the doctor for. Basically I need it to get to a nine, almost ten on chronic level before I'll drive myself in to get it looked at. I don't have time for doctors

As a bright friend- with a chronic life long disease- I’m in a lot of doctors offices. TRUST ME DOCTORS HATE WHEN YOU GO IN AND TELL THEM WHAT UOU NEED PRESCRIBED. don’t matter what color you are let the doctor do their thing and also. Yeah I mean. I only go when I have too (every three months for a specialist not a general doctor) so yes a lot of white friends get the doctor on the phone ASAP and a lot of white friends call they grandma to dig up and translate their families remedies. (Also. Hello internet. Got remedies up the wazoo I feel like more “hippie” vibe people just google that and only go into the doctors when they are about to close the casket) lol 😂 loved the video

Because doctors never misdiagnose? There have also been times i’ve been to doctors where they tell you this is whats wrong before you even get the first word out, and didnt want to hear a word i said. Not all doctors are good doctors...

As a cripple that has to be seen every 6 months an MRIs every 9 months. I lost care in keeping it secret. I have been taken to many doctors by many different friends not just family. Been this way for 9 years in a wheelchair for 7 going on 8 years. My friends keep me around. They will call out stuff I wouldnt tell my doctor. I spend most my time around them compared to family. So then know when i lie.

That's hilarious! My husband seriously calls me a "witch doctor" 🤣 We go in when we need to. I use herbs and essentisl oils, vitamins and natural things to support the body. I have some medical knowledge you could say. I haven't been wrong yet on my diagnosis. I literally just diagnosed and started treatment of mt husband's leg pain. I told him that it was due yop the nerves in his legs and inflamation. I started using natural anti-inflammation, Glutathione w/ Milk Thistle (help throughout the day & bring down/ control inflamation help body repair dsmage) and Lidocaine 4% patches (8hr release) patches for him to sleep at night. He went to doc. Was officially diagnosed with neuropathy and given a Rx of Lidocaine patches of 5% time released for bedtime (have to have a doc prescription for those) as well as an anti-inflammatory Rx! 🤣🤣🤣 Same shit I already diagnosed and was giving my husband! He likes my natural stuff better (anti- inflammatory) because the herbs don't give him as many side effects and 90% of the time they work better! I'm pertty much Dr. Mom and yup, we go because I've already called it and just need a medicine that I have to get through a doc. Doc checks us out and ends up proving me right, everytime! Education comes not just in a classroom!! I don't know everything, but I keep learning!

Have to argue with a few of my bright friends to let the doctor tell them what's wrong. Remind them the doctor studied and then practiced for years and years to be have the knowledge to say what's wrong. So just indulge them. Telling my bright friends they might not know everything....well, that's when they become temporarily deaf.

OMG all of that is so true! I usually ride with family members and the ones that don't come already know why I'm going and want an update on what I've found out whenever we have. I will go for any reason that I can't diagnose myself. And when I get there I told him that I've ruled out all of these other things and it has to be one of these three things and can they please test me for these things! And believe me I will find out your name how many kids you have what kind of work you do why you're here at the doctors and maybe get your phone number and email address and we'll do lunch one day

Hell I couldn't tell you the last time I seen a doctor. I'm not going unless I'm knocking at deaths door. In 06 I had walking numina didn't know it at the but refused to see a Dr, it wasn't until I got so sick I was coughing blood and couldn't walk a friend picked me up and made me go to the hospital. That friend saved my life they told me if I had waited a few more days it probably would of killed me. Another time I had a fence post go through my finger boss forced me to go get stitches I just wanted to throw some alcohol on it and rap in in a rag and duc tape 😁. I hate Drs and they charge to damn much so ya unless I'm knocking at deaths door I'm not going or a minor accedent and the boss man forces me.

I despise going to the doctor, for anything. Sliced tf out of my finger at a party, an actual doctor that was there was like “Oh, you’re going to need stitches, at least 5-6”. He was mortified when I pulled out the superglue and just glued my finger back together. Like I’m leaving the party right as the ribs are coming off the grill to get stitches. Hell no. It’s still a bit numb 6 months later, but it’s getting there. Not all white people go to the doctor. Some of us make do.
