Tip number one lol never take orders that don’t tip. Haha Also understand you work for both doordash an customer, the receive the order then hand if of to you. So they should tip you. People are bidding for your time, highest bidder wins. Don’t take no tip orders

Tip 1 - don’t do long trips for crap pay. Tip 2- learn your restaurants ability to have orders ready on time or close to pick up time. Tip 3- no tip no trip.

How can you look to see if there is going to be a tip or not prior to the order?
@frankvaldivia9643

@@her5157 Usually, you want to see how many items are in the order, where the order is coming from, and if the pay is above $7.50 or more. Most times, anything below that amount isn't paying any more than what it says and isn't worth it. It also helps to know customer names and addresses as you want to keep track of habitual bad tippers and avoid them even if the order is a big one.

i really embraced the power of declining offers. I'm a new Dasher and I'm still getting the hang of it. But I received several $2.50-4.00 orders to go 10-15 miles away from my market. I just couldn't accept it. I'm also understanding which restaurants take longer and which ones receive more orders. I have been hanging around those restaurants and have seen my average dash go up in pay! I wish all the Dashers out there a safe and prosperous Dash!

Just finished signing up for Doordash, got my background check done, app downloaded, pay info ready, etc... But still haven't taken my first order/worked my first shift yet 'cuz I wanna try to be confident that I don't shoot myself in the foot too seriously right out the gate from not being ready in some unforeseen way or another. So I've been trying to learn from a number of online resources and videos from different platforms/sources before getting out there. This is the first one that is clear, direct, worker-centric, and actually helpful. You're getting me closer to being ready to start. Thanks, man :)

I've only been dashing for 3 months. I have learned a few things however. I am not a personal shopper! I will not do walmart, walgreens, Safeway or anything like that. Basically, if it has to do with the red card I don't do it. My minimum acceptance is $1 per mile. I also have a list of stores that I do not go to. They are always slow and you are absolutely correct time is money! :-)

I’ve only been dashing for about 2 months but it has been going pretty well. I multiapp because sometimes one app is busier than another. one thing with Doordash is pay attention to the amounts that often have hidden tips. Doordash will often hit me with $7 or $8 and change offers, which are usually more. I used a trick from The Long Island Dash experience channel to take into consideration the offer, the restaurant and the number of items to determine if an order is going to go up. Took an order for Baskin Robbins. The offer was $8 and change. But, 4 items. Was not too far, 4 miles so still $2 per mile, but I had a feeling it would go up. Went up to $15.75. Had another that was sushi was in the $7 range but upon delivery went up to $12.25. Again not bad miles and both were taking me into areas I wanted to go anyway.

It all sounds like good advice to me. They start you out with complementary top dasher status for the first two weeks. It seemed I got better trips. The end of the two weeks coincided with the end of tourist season in my area so I can't draw a conclusion. I'm going to try for top dasher status again just to see for myself if it helps in my area. Another driver in my area also said he did better by being more selective and not worrying about his acceptance rate.

DD has atleast 5 maybe 6 algorithms they use on drivers. 1) first 2 weeks 2) 15th day to 30 or 60 day driver (who is a referral) 3).same as #2 but no referral payments involved. 4) after 60 or 90.days. 5) 91 to 180 days of driving 6) 181 and beyond 7) catering orders included 8) drivers WITH 4 or 5 figures of deliveries with a high rating. 9) top.dasher program (waste of time and 💰) 10) I have not had one since JUNE (diaper rash still owes me $200 I stipped fighting them over it in september) for a challenge!!

Had to deal with a couple challenges (multiple orders from same merchant to diff customers, or multiple orders from multiple merchants to the same customer). Being new to DD it was confusing what to do --- not something you learn in advance but only when ur in the line of fire. Ur tips are helpful and I'll incorporate some of them into my process.

@@babsblan yeah. There is trial and error. I bet you won’t do that again. And here is another gripe I have. If we wait 20 minutes for an order whether at a restaurant or a drive through and we decide to dump the order then why do we get penalized for completion rate. That is bullshit. Also. LISTEN TO THIS MAN. Making yourself a goal and going after that goal is such a good idea. I set myself a modest goal of $100/day, Take as many trips as close to $10 as possible so I can knock out my goal in the shortest amount of time possible then call it a day, this is just supplemental income. When I tried to do this all willy nilly you end up getting disenchanted and bored with the work and you end up not liking it anymore.

one thing i noticed is that keeping top dasher isnt easy sometimes because people will slap you with a 1 star rating for things not your fault... we cannot open bags to check whats in them and sometimes stores are slow or you get a order that was rejected a few times before you and the customer takes it out on you and destroys your metrics you are working hard for

Question what's the best way to save on gas when waiting for a delivery? I noticed if I sit somewhere or go to a hot spot I barely see any deliveries come in. But soon as I start driving to another location I get a hit, and sometimes it's like a few bucks. I think it's bs they don't give me any deliveries unless I'm driving wasting my gas. I feel like doordash does that on purpose. Like hey you're just sitting no deliveries for you, oh you're wasting your gas here's a delivery for like 3 bucks. I'm trying to find a way to manage that so I'm not wasting money on gas. I gotta make it worth it by the end of the day.

Turns out, people in that town are cheap and they all live several miles away from downtown. Not worth chasing that peak pay unless it's already in your area and as a BONUS

So far I have been dashing 3 days 3 to 4 hours per day, I have made a pretty descent amount on all three days for the time dashing, its been great so far, I always contact the customer if I expect to be late even though I am still within the door dash expected time, so far I have had 21 orders to date got 1 rating of 5 stars, 77% acceptance, 100% completion and 76% on time or early, most of the late ones was because of timing that wasnt technically my fault more the restaurant, other than that been a great experience. Another tip: if its not busy in your zone, yet you don't want to drive ALL the way to the next zone that IS lit up red because its too far? Do "dash along the way" and you might get some dashes closer to you without going all the way into the next zone. I think this would fall into Pedro's "adapt along the way" category.

It never hurts to asks the restaurants what their specific protocol is for delivery drivers. For example, the Wing Stop in my town isn’t allowed to start making the food until the driver shows up, but one in another town close by makes it as soon as they get the order. Never assume all restaurants are the same.

Im new to doordash in southeast side of houston. I think it is a saturated market. I am trying to follow the acceptance rules and still not making crap. Last Friday night I made $44 in 3 1/2 hrs (i quit early because i was just pissed! Lol). On a Friday night I shouldn’t be making less than at least $18 an hour in this area. Its a wealthy region. I think they entice new drivers with high paying orders to restaurants that take for friggin ever to make orders. Lost lots of time and now my on time/early rating is dwindling VERY fast even though i ALWAYS click the food not ready yet in app! Im done! Im not waiting anymore no matter how high the pay is. Thanks for the info Pedro! Good stuff!👍👍 Im definitely going to start denying orders at these slow ass restaurants! Im at 100% completion, but now dangerously low at 91% on time/early. Im not slow. So I just started dashing a couple days ago. I haven't even gotten the red card and welcome kit yet. I've been going to a decent sized college town, but I've only been averaging around $100 a day (about 7 hours at a time) and have been questioning whether or not it's worth it. Will the red card make it more profitable? I'm surrounded by large cities I could travel to, but I don't want to do that if I'm only going to make $100 and having to pay $20-$30 in gas alone.

Rigtht on! I have only been doing this on a hit or miss basis for a few months, but have arrived at much of the same conclusions. I love that he starts out with acceptance rate. At first I thought that is important. It's not. If you're a "top dasher", that only tells me you're losing money by taking too many sht orders. I don't give a rat's patoot for my acceptance rate. I'm not doing this for charity. If they stop sending me sht orders, I'd have a 100% rate, but they won't so I don't. I have a daily goal of $100 plus gas. I gas up on my way to my zone. It it takes $22 to fill up my 40MPG Chevy Spark, then after I make $22, I go to work to make $100. Then I can either go home or continue if I'm having a good day. If the number of miles exceeds the number of dollars, it's a "NO!" If it's under $4, it's a "NO"!. UNLESS it's an add-on for one additional mile. If it's to Taco Bell, it's a "NO"! bacause my local Taco Bell is drive through only lately and the line is usually over a half hour. There's more, but it's a learning curve. Happy Dashing!

Good video. But 2 things ... 1) all that matters is REVENUE/miles ratio. 2) everyone talks all about $2 ratio! How many orders you getting a shift with atleast that ratio even with a good hidden tip? Especially, the last 6 months or so in your City and zones you work? How many non bonusor peak paying orders you getting at a MINIMUM of $8 and 4 miles or less anymore?? (⛽ prices have increased 50 to 83% this year and I work in Texas (Austin and Houston) where gas is the cheapest in the nation currently ranked 50th of 50 states in 🇺🇸!!

Hi 2 weeks. What do I do when the app gives you REALLY wrong directions? Also she has me going in a circle a couple of times, around a hood and get me lost when It was just across the street. My time is money. If not at this job then another.

It amazes me the number of people who place orders with the most minimal tips possible. I'm not making a trip for a $1-2 tip, regardless of how close it is. I live largely in a college community so thats the majority of the issue.

There have been so many times where I would unassign from a troubled merchant and I immediately got awesome orders immediately right away. So it's true: don't hang on to these orders, let Door Dash get you for the next one. Apparently the completion rate is easy to fix. That being said, one thing you should do is make sure the order you are waiting on isn't a very large one. If that's the case, IT'S WORTH WAITING FOR. Believe me.

If I’m on my way to a pick up restaurant on and area that I’m familiar with, can I take a shortcut or I have to stick to the directions?

Bro I just realized after all this time that peak pay is absolute trash. They have plenty of dashers out on a busy night to get all the orders but then they want to cover their own asses so they start paying peak pay and everybody and their broke ass mom is out on the road taking orders from dashers who are full-timers. It's sickening because it's like why the f*** would you offer incentive when you know damn well you don't need it? They don't give a f*** about what people make the only care about their bottom line and I hope the CEO is burning hell
