I invested in a 20kW solar system so no electric bill and the return on investment will be about 8 years then it's really free.

Health care? The dentist cost 1200 pesos for a cleaning, 1200 for X-rays, 1200 for ea cavity, $21, $21, $21 ea instead of $400, $400, $400. If you see a specialist for your foul stomach, $500 pesos $11 for a visit to a specialist and $300 php for amoxicillin. Less than my co-payment. My girlfriend bought an apple 15 max phone and when we did, I compared the US price and what we paid. Exactly the same. Yesterday I bought a karaoke mic, 329 pesos. I beg to differ on hygiene products, toothpaste creams shampoos. Electric cost varies by city and building. I have seen ridiculous electric bills here. Not at my girlfriend’s place,, her last electric bill was 6500 pesos for 2 months, and her water $200 pesos a month.. lastly, these magas are going to regret hiring a con man..

Great comment. I have only gotten a cleaning here, but I'm looking into getting some other worth done. I don't even go to the dentist in the US. I needed a crown during Covid so I I flew to Mexico. My local dentist wanted 2500 in Mexico. I got a week in Cancun, and the crown and seven filings were replaced for less than 2500. Including airfare.
@livinb4502 ай бұрын
@ professional services are at reasonable prices in Mexico too. 3 tooth crown was $650, not $4000! I was married to a Mexican lady until June for 28 years.

My electric bill has been as high as 25,000 PHP. I stopped having my housekeeper wash clothes 3 times a week, and started not using the AC unless I was in that room, and got down so that it ranges between 10,000 to 15,000 per month.

Thanks for the video. I'll add that gym memberships are more expensive than what you can find in USA.

My gym up here has all new equipment and is owned by a friend of mine. He charged 50 pesos per visit, I go 3 times a week. More than planet fitness but less than a lot of other gyms in the US

Very few Filipinos pay income tax...so the govt imposes VAT which is a "consumption" tax and also adds tarriffs on high end electronics and cars. That's why iPhones, laptops and cars are more expensive here in the Philippines vs USA. Those are items "rich" people buy. It's their way of taxing the rich. But TVs are cheaper here, because they are considered more of a mass electronic gadget... Same for those low end cell phones you can buy in the Philippines but not in the US

Not sure where you are, but here in Bohol in Tagbilaran, we have a supermarket called ICM. There you can find very good quality Italian Cheeses (parmisiano reggiano etc) but it is very expensive, like $17 USD/LB. They have good quality gorganzola also. Coffee is more expensive. USDA (imported) meats are expensive around $16 USD/LB for USDA Choice, not Prime. Imported Salmon filets (Chile, Norway etc) are again around $16 USD LB. Healthcare for basic care is cheap here. Medications out of pocket are about the same as the deductible on your Medicare. Eyeglasses are expensive. Dentists are cheap. Electronics are more expensive your quite correct. Anything that you buy with a Western brand on it will be more expensive. Electricity is about the same as in the USA. My electricity is less because I use solar, but the actual cost of that which is provided is about the same. Water is cheaper here.

Thanks Scott. I would love to chat with you at sometime. I'm thinking of moving to Bohol. I have spent sometime there and I really like the beach and the rural feel of Panglao. I like it up here in the North but I want to be in an area where me and my fiancé can get in the Airbnb business.

@@tripprawlings9284 S&R sells plenty of milk...but what the OP is talking about is overnight imported milk from California. It's not surprising its often out of stock. Plenty of imported goods run out in the Philippines. All the "high end" supermarkets struggle to keep their imported goods in constant supply.

It's not expensive for us Foreigner's if the pesos keep going down, it was 59 pesos to $1 dollar that other day. Retiring here in Manila where prices are the highest in all of the Philippines, I still find it cheaper that living in the USA. To survive there I had to work full time and run a business at the same time and wife was working too. On the expensive side, electronics has to be on the top end here no doubt, but cars I found out was cheaper, my new Toyota Fortuner anyways and has a bigger engine a 2.8 vs 2.4 highlander I would get in the US for much higher prices of the 2.1 pesos mil I paid for mines. The other thing is good beef here I can't find in the market, they are hard and chewy unlike the American ones soft and juicy (lol). Also, shoes top brands like Nike and Adidas are more expensive here that what I can get online there in the USA with discounts they send me monthly. The thing I found cheaper here overall is food, no doubt about it, even restaurants like Chili's and TGIF I get 50% off on my entire bill thru my BDO and BPI credit card. Also, services are way cheaper here like delivery, haircuts, house repairs and upgrades, as well as pet care. One day pet hotel here cost me only $10, in the USA cost me $30 per day.

Milk is more then double price, even bananas which they grow here are more expencive, vegetables in general are not cheap, electronics: had an electronic raisor from Europe that lasted 12 years before breaking down, bought a new one here fore half price but after one year broke and the engine was really weak ( not even lasting one shave) had an oral B electric tooth brush, lasted 15 years before breaking, bought a new one here again half price but after a half year broke so in the long run electric stuff is expencive here
@walkingmanwalks2 ай бұрын
It depends on the vegetables, I think. Papaya grows in my yard, and we use it in tinola, my favorite soup. But onions are expensive, garlic cheap, pineapple much cheaper, coconut practically free the local kids will climb a tree and throw them down for 10 pesos. Also, my gf goes to the market without me to avoid the skin tax, for lack of a better term. It's a grab bag. But I will say this in the US by myself I spend about$100 a week at the city market, and here with me and my girl, I average about$40

Great Video. Average USA kilowatt per Hour 16.63 cents US, converted to Dollars my current rate is 21 cents American, so yes electricity where I am, in Bulacan is higher and we have a much lower rate than some of the islands. Agree with cheese much more expensive and lower quality in the average supermarket. Thou I have found excellent imported cheeses in BGC CRAZY expensive. American junk food higher but stuff from Japan, Korea etc. cheaper. Electronics that are imported are much more expensive plus the VAT tax. Health care has been cheaper here for me except some prescriptions. Peso based insurance much cheaper. Coffee more expense for beans instant about the same. Disagree with butter cheaper here than USA Walmart current price for land o lakes $5.62 for the same size Philippines brand 159 to 209 pesos so 3 dollars or so, be careful thou some of the stuff is butter flavored Margerine. Coconut oil best for health for cooking much cheaper also palm oil good for health very cheap. Great video Salamat Po
