My advice to call the police always even at minor damages would be if you are alone in the car and in the one that bumps into you has more passengers. Same, additionally to the rental cars mentioned in the video, if you drive a leasing or company car. And, as mentioned in the video, if there is a language barrier or you not so familiar with the documents involved like insurance cards in foreign languages. When I was young there was a standardized "green insurance card" for EU countries but I'm not sure if this still exists and I don't have even one, driving in Germany. Other than that, great video! Secure yourself, secure the site, help others and only after that do the paperwork.

The mandatory first aid course for getting your driving license is great! Here in Spain is not included in the requirements. I wish we would implement it. Interestingly enough all the rest of the rules and procedures in case of an accident are exactly the same.

really? but spain is in eu and spanish driving licenseis valod in other eu countries so how could the driving course not include it? crazy.

Great video, indeed! I wouldn't learn otherwise of those crucial points you make and how they differ from what I've seen and known. I mean, safely learn. 🙂For example, here if you see cars and people who clearly have been freshly involved into an accident, you do stop and talk to them, offer any help, but not because of any law, it's just considered common sense and drivers culture. But it's really important for us expats to be sure to do so as well, with no hesitation. By the way, in Bulgaria the police is literaly there every single time, doesn't matter if there were damages or none. Two cars have pulled and you have the police arriving at the scene. 😂Writing, for hours. Again, regardless of liability or damages. Very clear and useful information! I feel for you about your experience in Portugl. Maybe the fear of possibly not understanging each other could lead some foreigners to refrain from stopping, so that's another reason why I think it's important to mention the law.

General question: what is the current legal status in Germany for dashcams? (Allowed? Usable in court of law as evidence? Legal risks?State specific law?). Great job with this video!😊

They are not forbidden and could be used as evidence. However, you are not allowed to constantly have them recording as that is against data protection. You can find more info in this article: www.finanztip.de/dashcam-urteil/

Guys, I love your videos, I watch you a lot that now it even feels like Sie sind meine Freunde 🤪 I am a student who's planning to relocate to Germany later on. I am learning so much from your videos and really looking forward to finally get to Germany ❤ It would be my pleasure to buy cups of coffee to support you for all the work you put in! Leider habe ich wenig Geld aber once I get settled there I will make sure to donate!

I absolutely adore your channel!!!! Do you have a video about the traffic and parking signs???? That is yet another reason for which I worry about getting a car. I have no idea what all the signs are for.

I want to ad: If you find yourself unable to assist in person (maybe you think it is unsafe for you) calling the police about the accident is the adequate procedure to follow. And I think there has to be a vest for every possible passenger in the car.

Thanks for the addition! 😊 I thought so too, but when I researched I found out that actually only one is required, but of course one per person is the better way.

3:06 OMG! Now I understand why in germany people like to slow down & look at an accident so I assume it’s to avoid a felony charge, but if one is the 25th car they should not hold up traffic but move along so emergency vehicles can reach the scene fast. I always drive past like I didn’t see😅

I have been living in germany for a year now and I remember the first month of my stay when I binge-watched all your videos and ever since I have been religiously waiting for every new video. You two never failed to amaze me with how extensive your topics are and I am forever thankful. However, a couple of days ago I was unfortunately put in a situation where I felt so helpless and small and I just WISHED I had your guidance. I was verbally assaulted by a man in the train and I was too afraid to do to anything. After consulting a few friends, I later reported it to the police and I was surprised to know that verbal assault is actually a crime that is punishable by law. I come from a place where our rights as women and members of the LGBT community are diminished, so what rights do we have here in germany? and what is the right thing to do when someone tries to breach them?

We're sorry to read that you had such an experience! Not cool at all. Filing a police report was a good move! We talk about discrimination and what actions you can take in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2fQoYKDbMecmtksi=z4YHZdpi3vwJXH_K&t=500 Your friends are right, any verbal insults are considered a crime in Germany. We hope you don't have to experience this again!

Awesome awareness guys. I would like to know if the police should also be called in case of a minor accident that didn't involve another vehicle, for example in a construction site on the highway causing some scratches on the side of the car?

That’s not entirely true. Having a minor car accident does not result in a criminal record in Germany.

@@simplegermany I got screwed when driving truck in Germany I hit on narrow road plastic signs on construction site they said go there's no problem and I didn't report it and police came to me and said you didn't report it you ran and I was 100 meter away lol. Germans aren't flexible as first time doing this I was scared to my bones.
