After the icy imposter syndrome felt when trying to buy a Datejust, I today tried on an Aqua Terra. No more purse-lipped Authorised Dealer-dominatrix in full leather and whips, asking ‘who’s been a naughty boy then?!!’ The Omega AD made me feel like I was actually experiencing luxury watch buying. Who knew!

Thomas, Terrific research and presentation sir. I went to my local Omega AD and tried on the Seamaster 300, 300M, Aqua Terra, and Planet Ocean watches. The 38mm AT, 39.5 mm Planet Ocean, and 40mm 300 all looked great on my 6.5 inch wrist for daily wear. The Seamaster Bond 42mm pushes the limit but I could wear it when in the water. Then the Omega representative brought out the new Speed master with the white dial. Wow! I am saving up for the Speed master white dial and the Seamaster 300 in Summer Blue. Next I went to my Tudor AD and I tried the new 39mm Black Bay GMT and Monochrome watches. Omega still ranks first in my opinion. I gave up on Rolex last year. Thanks again for your hard work!

I got the summer blue 300 professional in July, and highly recommend it. I got both the bracelet and the rubber. The rubber is way more comfortable, surprisingly looks better, and costs less. I’ve hardly had the bracelet on it at all. Go with the rubber.
@PhilbyFavouritesАй бұрын
I bought the white dial 300 in March ‘24. I bought it on the bracelet and got myself a black rubber deployment clasp too. Bloody brilliant, looks and feels great and I don’t have to explain to the Rolex lovers that “no, it’s not a fake” Buy one, you won’t be disappointed. I was going to go down the Rolex route but to be honest really couldn’t cope with AD staff treating me like shit…… the Omega purchasing experience was perfect
@13TyresАй бұрын
Yeah the white dial SMP300 on rubber is awesome.Some people hate the standard bracelet but I find it to be really comfortable. I recently got the mesh bracelet and I’m blown away, so comfortable and it looks amazing.
@gavinwhite9743Ай бұрын
I would highly recommend being careful when choosing a 300m. Those skeletal hands are not solid blocks. If you get a low contrast hand colour versus face, it can be almost impossible to read. I sold my 300m NTTD for that very reason, as in low light, such as a bar/restuarnant or even my own lounge I couldn't tell the time. Could be the same for some of those anniversary blue colours too.
@billmedic1995Ай бұрын
I consider myself to be a Rolex and Omega fan equally. In 1997 I purchased both a 2 tone, blue dial Sub and a blue dial SMP 300. I still have both watches to this day. I have been collecting since the mid 90s and I am constantly buying and selling watches in and out of my collection, but these two have never left and as far as I’m concerned never will. That said, I’ll be the first to say, compared to the Rolex (this applies more so to the time I purchased mine) the Omega was better made, ran just as well and was half the price of the Submariner. I tell every new collector I run into that you have to have some type of Omega in your collection to be complete.

The Seamaster is STILL better than the Sub… on paper.

Buy what you like. I bought my semester at 10k. I could have chosen the sub but I like the semester more. Not an investment/trend thing, just that’s what I like.

Went to local omega boutique and tried on the aqua terra and planet ocean along with the white dail speedmaster. They are all great and seeing the summer blue PO on my wrist i knew it was the one. Took it home and been my daily and couldn't be happier. The bezel and dail have a great color shift of grey and blue.

My NTTD is one of my favourite dailys. Just beautifully understated. When I'm feeling loud I have plenty to choose from (like the Breitling Super Ocean Rainbow or MAD 1) but the Seamaster and mt Speedmaster Racing are my most worn watches. Exceptional without the *look at me, I own a Rolex* vibe.

Great brand Omega. I like that the AT is really better than the DJ, Explorer 1, GS, because of its specs, COSC, and METAS. They just need to make it thinner and fix the bracelet. I Have the AT small seconds, but the the Summer Blue AT is hot! Omega is a trusted brand, tested quality and has the correct SRP...oh did you know you can buy one with probably no waiting list!

Great video. I’ve owned my Seamaster 300 since 1999. As to why this choice; all of my watch enthusiast friends has Submariners so an alternative and possibly more contemporary diver style watch took me down the Omega pathway. The Brosnan James Bond association was just an added bonus.

Nice video! I am currently in a decision dilemma. I graduate from my master's degree in 8 months and I'm deciding what watch to buy to commemorate (budget is 7K) and I'm torn: 1) seamaster 300m blue; 2) Planet Ocean 39.5mm (gunmetal, summer blue or black); 3) Cartier Santos; 4) Tudor Pelagos; 5) Longines Zulu (or a combination of the longines and the Tudor)... maybe Breitling... a GP Laureato... but it's out of my budget. I am a man with a varied taste, I like modern and classic, I am a lawyer (so plenty of business casual/suits) but also someone with a sport-casual style, etc.. I tend to travel for work (professional environment) but I also tend to travel for pleasure. My collection has everything from a Speedmaster Mark40 (blue), Omega constellation pie pan and other vintage watches like Cortebert triple date, Polerouters, citizen and Seiko bullheads, to an Amid Digitrend and other jump hour watches... I´m not a slave to a style (but defenitely not looking for a modern dress watch, for that its better vintage)... suggestions?

You did not talk about the Omega Worldtimer. One of the most beautiful dials I’ve ever seen at any price. Central laser ablated titanium plate, giving you a POV of the northern hemisphere from the north pole is absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, I find most omega seamaster models too chunky for every day wear, even with a 7 1/2” wrist. How many people really need a watch with 300 m or 600 m of water resistance?! Most of us simply want a watch that you do not worry about swimming with it on if you are poolside. To me, a watch with 100m or more of water resistance will do the job just fine. I will not even bother making the comparison to Rolex as most of us cannot buy one from an AD and I refuse to pay over retail! Therefore, comparing to Rolex is a moot point! Tudor is now what Rolex used to be, that is an ultimate tool watch. The fits and finishes. IMHO are quite superb on their chronographs and GMTs. For me, in order to have a watch in the everyday rotation, 14.5 mm thickness pushes the envelope and does work with a lug to lug less than 50 mm. Bottom line, if you like the omega and it looks good on your wrist, buy it. Most omegas are really cool looking with awesome finishing. Also, the best bracelets in the industry! 😮😮And you will be buying a time piece that will last you the rest of your life and you can pass down to your next generation as an heirloom.

On the military Seamaster 300, late 60's model, it's funny how all the autorized dealer are avoiding the subject... They're jumping into their current lineup from the regular 300 to the heritage 300, and if you insist, they'll refer you to the trilogy edition, but none will acknowledge that 300 as the model that everyone really want. They will also denied the existance of WatcCo that used to sell heritage 300 from parts.
@LanguagesWithAndrewАй бұрын
Since it's relevant to this video and there are a quite a few people who are wrong about this: Rolex's largest direct competitor is Omega, Omega is on the same level as Rolex, not Tudor which is one level below both of them. I've heard a lot of people say that Tudor is Omega's direct competitor: they are wrong. The fit, finishing, and movements of Omega watches are all substantially better than those of Tudor and on par with those of Rolex. To answer the question from the video: the Aqua Terra's biggest competitors are the Rolex OP and Explorer, and the Seamaster 300's biggest competitor is, obviously, the Rolex Submariner (between the two, I'd take the Seamaster 300, it's much prettier).
