1- It's nice, but i know my own worth. It feels weird when it's exaggerated. 2- Attention makes me nervous, unless i'm speaking and there are less than 20 people. 3- I wish i could, but anxiety and insomnia won't let me. 4&5- Never felt guilty about those.

I would differentiate between “attention” and “recognition.” Attention is what you get for how you behave, recognition is what you get when you produce a “societal good,” whether it be art, a service to others, a bequest, or a legacy structure like a building, or an organized institution, I give Anna attention for her on-screen presence. I give her recognition for her efforts to help others be more fully functional and happy people.

I died at the "wanting attention" robbery scene 😂🙌🏼 Growing up, I've always been made to feel guilty for wanting attention & validation. Needless to say, it kinda messed my childhood up. Now, thanks to self-reflection, doing the work & Anna, I've grown to be a more emotionally-sound individual. Girrrrl, you're a super hero! Keep making these videos! 💗🎯

I think a lot of us can relate that our parents are rushing us into relationship to eventually get married and have kids, but some of us out there just don't want to be in a relationship and have zero interest in having kids, especially in a pandemic right now. So it comes to that decision of whether we should choose to pursue a life we want for ourselves or disappoint and perhaps hurt our parents and possibly even end the heritage there because we don't want to have kids. It's that guilty of not wanting to end the family tree there and disappoint our parents, but at the same time being married and having kids is just not what we want.

@@goldHydrangeas Yikes that's pretty ableist 😬 having NPD doesn't make someone bad and having high empathy doesn't make someone good, nor would that justify treating someone's existence as disposable. Wanting to remove a group of people from the world on the basis of the medical diagnosis is really messed up.

I once read that a study showed that negative attention is better than no attention. You also notice it in kids who search for their parents' attention by doing things they know is naughty. I have experienced what it feels like to be neglected, to have my feelings, my words, my dreams, or anything really ignored by my partner for one of his obviously more important matters like the fact that he stubbed his toe three days ago and it still hurts a little (haha). And it reminded me of this study, because I felt how suffocating it was to be neglected like that. I just remember wondering when I had become so hungry for attention, because I seemed to need it all the time, so much so that I started crying and feeling like a plant in some dry corner somewhere, crumpling up until I was no more than a bunch of brown, crispy leaves (...if it wasn't for yoga and luckily the occasional visits to friends). Don't feel guitly if you need attention and validation and don't feel bad if you cannot sustain yourself in that... it's like feeling guilty for not being able to produce your own vitamin C and needing to get it from an outside source like fruits and vegetables.

Essentially, don't feel guilty about things that doesn't bring harm to anyone. If you hurt someone's feelings, yeah you should probably feel guilty about it. If you requested breaks in your nine hour barista work shift, don't feel guilty about that.

The "problem" is, I come from a privilege background (never needed to worry about food on the table, roof over my head and never had to work while studying), am generally healthy physically and mentally and I'm working in a job i like but I just feel so guilty for existing when people online keep talking about how they're upset some people dont have to suffer to get to where they're at. Watching Parasite made me feel so guilty because I felt like I related more to the rich family than the main one but I genuinely don't know how the hell I'm supposed to change that. And I'm human so I keep wanting more- I want to climb the ladder in my workplace, I want to travel, I want to buy a house. But then i feel guilty for even wanting those things because I already have so many advantages that I just should just... not exist (this isn't a cry for help. This is me not being able to find a solution where I can't feel guilty. But my guilt isn't eating me up inside). Edit: Thank you everyone for your kind words and suggestions. I did volunteer quite a bit before COVID but my country still hasn't given up the battle with it yet so it's very hard for me to find a slot on a weekend since they mostly disallow groups

As long as you’re not actively doing anything to hurt anybody, nor taking advantage of others, you should not feel guilty. You might have had it easier, but many people in your same circumstances end up ruining their lives, plus some more. If you’re a decent person to start with, you’re more than ok. However, the best you can do to feel better is helping others. And you’re in the best situation to do so, since your needs are covered and you seem to be happy with your life. You can give and inspire genuinely and you’ll feel great. How can you help? Find your way. Maybe babysitting for a friend, or taking them out for a day when they’re burnt out and need a break. Buying flowers for somebody. Helping at an animal shelter. Spending time with an old person in your life who is alone most of the time. Or whatever you like :).

Surround yourself with people who don't care that you are privileged when they are not. People who understand that not everybody is born with the same opportunities but appreciate effort nonetheless. Positive people don't cheer only for the poor, they cheer for whoever puts the effort into getting what they want. If the people around you are not like that, just stop caring about their opinion or company. Also what the other person said about giving, if it makes you feel good you could try that too.

You can always volunteer for social services in your community. I recommend the local library, since people of all walks of life congregate there and it's a service based in equity. Might be eye-opening for you, and will shift your perspective of guilt, to a productive one that helps brings positivity to your community. It's the same idea behind white guilt. Feeling guilty about being white isn't healthy or productive. Using that knowledge of privilege to help better the lives of POC (even in small ways like volunteering) is the better, more positive use of one's time.

You shouldn't feel guilty for something you can't control. Everybody has advantages and disadvantages when they come into this world. We all have different ones and it is fine if you want to help but you are not responsible for other lives because ultimately it is their lives and their choices that have the most impact on their lives. And about those people who want other to suffer,the answer isn't to make everyone suffer. But to try and lift everyone up. Hope this helps and goodluck

The thing you said about cancer is such synchronicity wow. I've been thinking about this for a while now and I am supporting the idea that certain emotional/psyche states can cause physical illness in our bodies. And in particular, I've been thinking about cancer that if it is a manifestation of something it most certainly is a manifestation of going against your own self. :)

People commonly think psychiatric diagnoses are overly representative of the population. Like, if someone get easily pissed off at people they think they might have "antisocial personality". Or if they seek attention at literally any time at all, a person is labelled "narcissistic". There's obviously a point at where attention-getting is too much of a good thing, but some isn't bad. We're literally built to need some attention for socialization.
@sealwhiskers3515

I actually love the hot take on wanting validation and attention. Learning not to rely on someone's validation when they're not giving it to you or they're invalidating you is fair, but imagine any of your friendships or most loving relationships absent of you guys giving each other validation... wouldn't be nearly as good of a friendship, would it? And babies literally need attention to not DIE. It's in human nature to both want and give attention because we're a social species.
