I'm gonna be honest here, my overall skill level has gone down because of the aforementioned. There is challenges in fighting multiple players at once, but I rarely if ever face someone that knows what theyre doing in a 1v1 scenario.... And that hurts me because when I do encounter someone that knows what they're doing, the outcome isn't always like I hoped. We need those challenges to stay proficient.

@@WhooptieDo I think a lot of the issue is how overly potent missles have become reducing the need for actual skill. BR compression is awful as well. If you get a shenyang behind you in a hunter F.1 you basically just hope your opponent screws up.

The only way I managed to grind to top tier US jets was with the premium Sabre. But then again, I was playing WT on and off for years (started in 2013 - played almost exclusively Ground RB for a long time) before I did so, and I actually know how to fly lol It's painful when you are typically the last person alive on the team, and there are still 3 - 5 enemy jets still up, because your teammates couldn't fly right even if their lives depended on it...

This might not only be applicable to jets, but most are also applicable to props. Also my take on climbing, climb to combat altitude, unless an enemy appears. If that happens, accelerate to combat speed.

Also if you expand the "oh shit I've started an engagement" threshold from the usual 2km or so to 5km+ then there's more than enough time to build up a healthy combat speed

It's actually good to be dead with one kill nowadays - it's almost a win. Most of the matches I'm dead with 1-3 kills, and all my teammates are dead with 0.

Some planes cant profit with 1 or even 2 kills and a death, example is f-80. Takes 3 kills to profit. 2 kills and 8 ground strikes can get you 16.5k SL right now. The death costs 19xxx. No g-suit and stock hydraulics. F-86-F2 needs a kill + a couple ground kills. The 4,500 SL that is free for playing in the match for 3 mins does help though.

its no good being alive with zero kills when the rest of the team crumbled around you, Whoop here is advocating for one thing that gets him to face 1v6 most often - guys that get shot down without a kill which someone having enemy on his 6 while already engaged is more than likely outcome there were a lot of times where i KNEW i had several enemies on my tail while trying to finish an enemy (followed by "hit" hit" hit" usually) and still focused on finishing the target ... if i have 2 or more enemies behind me im done for, at best i might force them to dump ammo and energy to get me but as im 9 out of 10 matches in uptier there is basically no point in trying to save your ass in that situation ... all you are going to do is die anyway but throw away the chance of at least scoring one kill

Why does every youtuber think extremely long and LOUD intro music is required? Despite that, the video was basic but informative, I've gone from props to 10.3 instantly, my friend insisted that he gift me the F-5C so i could "Suffer as he suffers" and I was struggling to do anything but die. It's not a dig at you personally, it's a general pet peeve of mine when the video starts with a loud intro and then gets quiet to the point i have to increase volume to hear it. Keeping cool and not hard evading everyone who might look at you for 0.2 sec takes time and experience to get the hang of, but it ties into situational awareness, and keeps you alive in the long run. I think getting the hang of that and managing my energy was probably the turning point in my jet game

Which is why if you have skipped early jets and grinded to the top jets, one should go back and master them. Going back to the 262 and F-80 from the cannon Sabre helped my jet game a huge amount. Energy management is hugely important.

ZB not even gonna lie, f80 is one of the best American jets in game. F84 is very good too. But I do agree though, you need to master those jets before you master a Sabre.

Thx for making this video really. i had bought the Swift(my first jet) and i just kept losing matches, kept dying and losing money, but after watching this and applied it to my gameplay the improvement was so major, i went from not making any kills and just die to making 3 kills per match and win.Keep it up with the videos.

recently discovered this game and absolutely loved it. it´s a fun "battle royale" thing but on a realistic scenario. still on 2 level planes (YAK1 and MIG3) and enjoy the "everybody shoots everybody" dogfight. except with the Nimrod damm this plane is slow you should thank God if you hit somebody. fight against an I-15 or a YAK1 is asking to be killed

There's only one thing more frustrating than when I fly my phantom to 30k ft, just to see my entire team trying to turn fight on the deck (If you want to turn fight fly mustangs, 109s, and spits.), and that is when I come up behind an enemy chasing a friendly... I'm lined up perfectly going mach1.3.... 2mi out.... friendly does a 180 turn towards me.... enemy follows him into a sharp turn and my shot is ruined, forcing me to pull off and sacrifice all my energy if I decide to turn around and try again. I've baited so many people just by turning away from my team mate so that they could get on the enemy 6 and save my butt. It's not that hard because like he said, most players get tunnel vision on the one dude they're following. Help me help you and turn away from me, not in to me.

All good tips, don't get me wrong, but in 8 of 10 matches, props more so than jets, but still, my whole team just dies, I'm the only one with alt, or most of the time just the only one. That game's dead for me because of that, I'm flying DCS, loving it, stepping up my gear eventually, and it's getting better. WT was just pure frustration on one point, haven't deinstalled or something, but I play it quite rarely these days. So sad. Even if you're in a good clan, so rarely the right guys playing together. But hey, as long as Gaijin shovels that money in....

1:15 people dont realise that if they prioritise the team over yourself then you'll likely maximise the chance of winning because you can apply your resources elsewhere, and you get huge bonuses to rp and sl for wins. If you're desperate near the end of a winning match for points then kill AI. Also, headons are a valid tactic. The problem is just full commit. I use headons reliably to merge people who beeline towards me without thinking about positioning - makes sure we're on the same energy level and altitude, and means that they can't slot into me by merging with me on my side. It's easy to dodge headons by kicking the rudder and pitching sideways and then rolling under the guns of the enemy - they cant rapidly pitch down to get you. You also get a chance to get a cheeky pilotsnipe or damaging their engine in props which massively hurts their endurance.

Exactly. I FIND MYSELF THE ONLY ONE IN THE MATCH TEAM PLAYING and side climbing. Not to mention the kill stealing. Lately I’ve found myself to be either being chased down by the entire enemy team when the match starts because my whole team side climbed for no apparent reason or I’m the last man standing because I chose not to commit myself into being trapped.

I got my first jet after 4 years. I play this game since 2014. Gotta say, my first impression was "oh man, is this jet battle?" Not very satisfied. The player always either die in a headon or crash to the ground or collide eachother. Rare cases was, being team killed by a missile. And uh, my first jet was Me 163 B (MK108 ver) and at 8.0, this thing is hard to play. Idk maybe im not experienced enough or it just not fit in a "jet" battle, since the plane wasnt even a jet powered.

Because of this summer sale I thought in my infinate wisdom, to buy a jet even though I've never played one before. I've watched plenty of jet videos and did a few test flights to get some of the basics, and the first game I saw it all. Players climbing like props, people focusing one target and leaving themselves on low energy states, people going into headons at every opportunity. 2nd game I played I almost had an ace, but the last guy crashed himself rather than die to my missle. That same game 3 of my team were in props including a pshooter. And I'll say this, fighting in jets speed is indeed life, in a down tier or even slight uptier the only advantage I really have is quantity of missles and my planes maneuverability, (guess what I bought lmao) but an uptier i feel so helpless due to supersonic aircraft everywhere, I cant run, and I'm outgunned, it's very frustrating having just taken off and an f104 is already on my ass

Thank you! I want to speak about those and many other Problems for long time. Tried to do it with different War Thunder KZbinrs, but they decline to speak/make content about this kind of Topics for whatever reasons. Games consist of roughly two Systems: The Creators and the Customers/ Players. If the Creators do not want to change some stuff for better gameplay it is up for the Community of Players to change some things to improve the gameplay. Overall more intelligent and social behaviour but also many other things. Every individual Person needs to make our Environment better because thinking that others might do that is the biggest mistake. Maybe we can talk via Ts/Discord some day ;) Keep it on with the improvements!

This current meta is exactly why I like flying the swift f7 so much. It pretty much destroys anyone with no experience. Head-on? Try a fire streak missile from 4km away. If that misses enjoy the 2 Adens then (and obviously still pull off in time) Climbing? Did you say climbing? Well if anything climbs well it's this. I love getting someone on my tail and then showing them the power of that after burner. Only the f5 outclimbs it but you can stay out of that ones sights pretty easily and when you get to stall speeds you turn better Those cannons also make really quick work of anything that's going slow. In the meantime you can easily maintain well over 1000kmh i love it

I'd like to add two things people shouldn't do in top tier matches. 1. Last second head-ons, because most of the time it's not much different than regular full commit head-on. Really annoying move and not really worth executing, but a lot of people do it. 2. (This one had to be here) Taking props into jet matches, because why not weaken the team just because two or three guys want to have fun.

The problem I'm finding is that unlike props, because of the BR compression there is 0 learning curve... Immediately you're thrust into games vs higher tier jets who are all faster than you and have missiles especially the op premium ones. So there's very little opportunity for improvement.

I think everyone would benefit from more training material in the game; not just basic tutorials that only teach you keybindings, but tutorials that are essentially just missions. You only get better at something like this by doing it over and over, and if new players had access to repeatable single player missions that worked on established principles in the game and in real life, they could more quickly understand the basic functions and theory of the game.

In 8.0 jets I tend to accelerate up to about 700kph and then sideclimb in a 10° angle, it gets me a decent amount of altitude for not a lot of speed lost

It happens on every battle rating just like I killed a fw200 on br 2.7 and it wasn't fully dead but falling to the ground and everyone just dove on it instead of attacking working planes just so they would get that kill

I do the old meta of staying on deck and rushing in my cl 13 but the whole enemy team gets on my six with faster mig 17s and teammates focus on the 1 or 2 people that ignored me. Current meta is cancer.

So dont do that then, what I like to do now is get speed. Climb to 2000-4000meter and then go from there. Works great.

@@xanderwusky even if i climb to 2 ish k enemies are st that alt with me and if i dive they also get speed so its not worth it. My cl also loses speed if it stays at that alt, and even if i do perform maneuvers to reverse enemies either im able to kill one guy and bam 20k rep cost cuz 6 people are still behind me and my team focused on a vatour or are at high alt with no speed.

That 1# was pretty good. I once had a p51 that head on me in a fw190. Which is a very bad idea right off the bat. But, this dude did FULL head on. But, he only did minor damage. Soo, he got blown apart. He just flew right into my bullets. Not jets, but, I think full Head ons is always bad.

you forget to mention to sideclimb early jets...262s are all dead in minute because they have no speed and no energy, yelling on me if im going to join fight, leaving me last plane almost every game

Thanks for a video. And youv earned a sub. Watched a few other of your videos its good to see a pilot with some actual skill... I do headons at 1.8 i fire in 3 burts and at 1.1-1.2 depending on closing speed i break off and do a rolling reversal normally ending in a split s to get on thier tail.

Here is another tip if your in a 2v2 dog fight and you kill one dont leave your buddies to go land and re arm and re fuel if you have a fully functional aircraft, even if your out of ammo the enemy does not know that help your teammate get that last kill by either baiting your buddy to get that last kill or ram the sob on the enemy team to get the win

Right before i played the g91 r3 i basically only played the do335b. And really all i had to do was take a similar mentality to the d0335b playstyle and apply it to the g91. - Keep your speed up because your acceleration isnt as good as any of the other planes. Dont do vertical turns because youll bleed too much speed. Dont commit to head ons because even slight damage can make merely flying a chore. Dont dive because you compress like a mofo. Climb at a rate where your still gaining speed. Dont spray and pray. - Im not a good jet pilot but at least i know the basics.

Vertical turns are for sure a big no no in G91. You sound like you grinded your way to jets, which is the way it should be. Despite it being long and painful at times, the problems arise from the players who bought their way into jets.

All depends upon the situation Has someone come on ur 6 or are u clear is there an enemy close but not on you Energy management is key but so is altitude

How do you make it so when you hold down your free look button and maneuver the circle will move with the plane instead of staying where you left it?

When u look away from the circle it automatically starts moving with the plane then u can look back and as long as u use the c button it will move automatically
