FL5 is one of the best handling cars I’ve driven. The chassis is perfect.

I own a CTR and I must say manuals are so much fun. I actually how to drive with a manual. In fact probably my first 4 cars were manuals.

Oh cool! Yeah my first car was a manual tC. Love the manuals!

You should do a guide on using the brake hold. I know its not good to rely on using it, but on really steep hills I use it because I don't want to roll back and hit someone who's really close to my bumper.

Yeah thats a cool idea. In my how to drive manual video, I talked about hill starts tho

For some people out there that wants a little tip when parking facing a garage or whatever it is. I sometimes put it in 3rd so that the car Dosent lurch forward into the garage or whatever you’re facing in case you forget it’s in gear or whatever.
@BrosFOURRSpeed2 ай бұрын
Yeah not a bad option. Definitely be cautious when you do start up so that doesn't happen

Some of these tips should be aimed at new truckers. As some truckers still choose to go to the manual gearbox vs the automatic in a truck. Here's why. You have a six speed gearbox in your car. Semi trucks have up to an 8 speed gearbox and can have two switches one for direct/overdrive, and one for Low/High to either switch in or out of those higher gears. Manual trucks do not have auto rev match you have to find the sweet spot for rev matching beit you're Jaking, and/or just regular downshifting. What i mean by Jaking using the Jacobs Engine Brake system to help you slow down, and when it comes to resting your hand in the shifter in most truck driving schools they can fail you for that. The only time your hand should be on that shifter is when you're A getting ready to upshift, or B downshifting. In a semi truck C using the range selector switch to go into the lower or upper gears, or D using the direct/overdrive switch to go into the direct/overdrive gears. Other than that 10, and two is where your hands belong at all times, and rocking back and forth is bad on a truck too especially if you have a 35-40,000 lb load behind you sorry to go off topic on your video but this don't be a noob edition of your video can apply to the trucking industry too😊

Yeah i'm sure there are soime other tips for truckers with so much weight and many more gears. Would be fun to drive a Semi and learn more about them

Resting your foot on the clutch is usually called "riding the clutch". Wears your clutch big time.
@BrosFOURRSpeed2 ай бұрын
Yup! Good idea to just keep the weight off the clutch

Neutral at a red light - agreed - save the throwout bearing. There are teardowns showing the components that wear from resting your hand on the shift knob. Does your Civic have hill hold?
@BrosFOURRSpeed2 ай бұрын
Yes this has hill start. Nice feature to have for sure on modern cars

Last tip is interesting because for my s550 mustang the manual says I should put it in gear and then turn car off instead of the way you did it so idk which one I should do 😂
@BrosFOURRSpeed3 ай бұрын
If you’ve already set the parking brake you’ll be good. Modern cars could automatically engage the brake this when you shut it off. So not sure. But still best to not park on the transmission
@dl97753 ай бұрын
After the car is off is better. Less chance of doing something stupid when your tired
@luisjalvareztorres84812 ай бұрын
As long as you set the parking break first, it doesn’t matter if you put the car in gear before or after you turn off the car.
@machyne822 ай бұрын
@@BrosFOURRSpeedManuals don’t have a parking paw like an automatic. If you bump start a manual that would be the same as parking with weight on the transmission.

I’m going to always rest my hand on the shift knob I barely put in any weight and feels good to me

What made you get this over the type s or the gr Corolla? I’m in that boat just trying to get your opinion. If gr wasn’t having them failures I would lean towards that engine is still to new.
@BrosFOURRSpeed2 ай бұрын
Seemed readily available. So that was nice. I think the Type-S would feel too much like a cheap version of our RS3. Being semi luxury, that might make me feel like it's competing with that. So I wanted something not at all on the luxury spectrum. GR Corolla, we actually just got back from a track event driving them. Tons of fun and that has made me like them better. But the Type-R seems to have a better following at the moment. But maybe in a year from now if I'm ready to try something else I'd go for the GR. Hopefully I can get a GR press car and compare these side by side. I do like the small footprint and the AWD in the GR. But the seats in the Type-R gotta be one of my favorite seats to be in

Just got a manual Supra and love the rev matching. My question is if im downshifting through multiple gears, is it better to push in the clutch for each downshift or can I just hold in the clutch and go 6-5-4-3-2-1 as im slowing down?.
@TheMrlightswarm2 ай бұрын
Push in clutch, downshift, and release clutch, & repeat as you go down the gears. Purpose: Slow down the vehicle by engaging the transmission and engine to achieve engine braking. You’ll also maintain control of your vehicle as opposed to pressing and holding the clutch in and downshifting.
@BrosFOURRSpeed2 ай бұрын
Depending on your speed you can just skip gears and go to the gear you want. As you learn the gears better you'll feel more comfortable skipping gears. Comment below is a good tip too!

Another tip: Dont grind your gears. Make sure you fully depress the clutch when going into a gear.
