They cant even qualify, NRG moved squishy to NRG on the size of his profile and fanbase, hes actually... compared to the level of player these days, hes average. He made his mark by hitting the big stuff in the early days but as the meta has evolved in to chasing and pure prediction of everything, that stuff doesnt have the same impact anymore. Those things he hit in the early days were also only made possible by the Neo Tokyo update, if half this stuff was possible from day one Squishy wouldnt even be talked about because someone would have found this stuff before he did. Squishy is the perfect example of calling someone "Washed"

I don't think it's very easy, especially for Wayton. Since Wayton is not one of the best 1s players and he doesn't coach 1s. Also, there is sooo much to cover in that. I would love to see ApparentlyJack or someone else make a video like that. Fairy Peak has a massive brain, when it comes to this. Its funny how other players get so mad, when they get demoed in the chat, while I dont, when its part of the game like bumping is also with strategy, so in profesional 4v4 game is good to have one demoer or bumper, if there is one striker, midfielder and goalkeeper. Toxic players in chat are more annoying, than demoer is, so what is useless in demoing, when through demoing you can score some goals and so its not toxcity, if it has strategic plan behind it.

5:50 is phenomenal. My favorite RL clip of all time. Not gonna lie, when the physical game is used against me, I get frustrated. Still to this day, I'm ssl and can hit the shot consistently, yet something about squishy's ceiling shot gets me so hyped. I saw it live and thought it was the best goal ever scored, and even though more mechanics have come to light and even doper shots have been scored in the rl comp scene, that ceiling shot remains the best pro play shot in my opinion. It was astonishing for its time and helped push rl into a new direction from were it was going at that time.

The way I see it: every player has a unique personality to themselves. As they become more comfortable with rocket league and eventually become fluent (like the pros) they eventually put their own spin on their game; similar to one’s own handwriting. Everyone has their own play style and at a professional level they become different types of super powers stemming from how creative someone is when playing at their best. Every player in this video is an example of someone who has mastered their personality in rocket league for a split second in time. Cool video!

The quality of Wayton's videos is only going up. Aside from the clean video editing and concise storytelling, the audio really really caught my attention as well; the music choice for moment introductions (and the way it cuts off into him talking), syncing music with video (like syncing beat-drops with goals, for example 08:26), the smooth usage of SFX (like slowmo sfx for emphasis 04:57), and a LOT of other details that might seem minor on their own, but definitely add up and make everything come together very nicely. I think it deserves more spotlight. I'm feeling inspired. 10/10 video.

I loved when Virtuoso was a demo machine. He tilted so many teams, it was fun to watch. :D Sad how he stopped that playstyle because people said it took no skill, etc. It was very effective! The same thing happened with Alot and his playstyle. Because they began calling him cherrypicker, cause he was often at other teams backboard etc. Playing kind of a "free" third man, with the other two doing most of the normal gameplay, him doing crazy stuff. It worked. Then he changed and started playing normally, which isn't his forte. It's sad to see. Both players had special kinds of playstyle, ruined because of insecurities.

This is objectively false. I have been playing RL since release and at no point did good players ever use goalies in 3s. If you played goalie, you were a moron that was rightfully flamed for griefing your team. Even SARPBC didn't use goalies. It has never been good, the rotation has always been around. It was certainly not "innovated" in any RLCS match. There were Reddit posts about rotations before the RLCS was even a thing.

Listen, I am no NRG fan. But 20 demos in a game where the scoreboard is 1:1 and an added 7 minutes of OT, doesn't sound like a "shattering of the skill ceiling". But I do agree, 20 demos in a game is something to behold. It'll be crazy to see what kind of skills are being developed into the new meta. We're already catching glimpses in pogos, chain dashes, and even pinches.

yo-- KZbin just randomly recommended this to me, and I just wanted to say: I'm struck and impressed by how well-written and well-produced this video is. really good job-- you are very skilled at telling stories not only visually but auditorially (if that's a word) as well! keep it up and you'll achieve great things! :) i especially love the way that you introduce & contextualize everything first-- showing all the angles, putting it in perspective, etc.-- and THEN show how big a deal it is, for which the crowd's reaction really is the best demonstration.

Demos aren't toxic when it's strategic, but when a player abandons the match to chase demos while leaving their tm8 in a 1v2 situation while they chase the demos it becomes toxic.

Love the video. Rocket league esports has been one of the most consistent, consistently-growing games possibly of all time. One mechanic or skill that I feel should’ve been on the list was the double hit. I remember watching season 2 when it really got popular and everyone in casual and ranked play with trying it.

Possibly an unpopular opinion: The same match that Comm got an insane play of 20 demos, we also saw or realised that NRG’s adaptability on defence can be OP and could be considered part of that skill ceiling being shattered. For perspective, NRG had at least 1 person deleted from the field for over a full minute, which meant that Comm’s genius play allowed V1 to push 2, sometimes all 3 players, into attack without consequence. Plus he’s got Beastmode on his team, one of the best attacking talents in the game. In short, a genius play that saw 20 demos should have resulted in an absolute blowout, and should have ended on 7 demos in regular time. But NRG’s insane defensive skill kept the game alive time and time again. Now for the not so unpopular opinion: It was honestly a joy to watch!
