Have flown Southwest for years and I always love the pilots. Most that I’ve had have had a great sense of humor. Had one pilot start singing “Up Up and Away” as we were taking off. Their announcements are always great! LOVE SOUTHWEST!!!

I flew on Southwest recently, and was in the B group, but arrived late, they let me cut the line, so I still was able to get a decent seat. I had a backpack with me, and was able to just store it under the seat ahead of me. It is important to get there early, be there when they start boarding. Southwest is a good airline for cheaper flights. They are efficient in taking your luggage. You can use their kiosks, to get your boarding pass, and luggage ID stickers. Plus, I was able to check in 24 hrs, buy my tickets, with my cell phone, which I'm sure is available for other airlines, but it's always a nice feature to use.

Thank you so much for making this video! I flew southwest and had no idea about the seating system! I wish I saw this video earlier! I remember my number was A32 and the flight attendants called “A numbers 1-30 line up” and I was like “oh I’ll just wait” so B boarded and C boarded and I had assumed it was just a really odd numbering system! I won’t make that mistake again!

I was catching a SW flight and the time came to get in line there was a Shaquitha ( a variant of a Karen) who thought that because she stood up first no one should be ahead of her and anyone who got in front of her was a target of her wrath. People please, when your in line don't be offended if someone else ask you what number you are. that how it works . you cannot tell if you are in the right spot if you don't know what number the person behind and in front of you are.

Hey Zachus, Im 17 and flying southwest for the first time and also my very first flight ever as well, I always have avoided vacations with family and friends on planes because i've always been so terrified, but I have went out of my way to try it for the first time, my flight is August 28th, I came across your channel because i was looking for tips and how to maintain your anxiety of flying, and its not the height part, i love heights, just scared to plummet to my death, thats all, i know its safer than cars, im just scared of plummeting to my death, people say that i will always wanna fly after my first experience, im just anxious about maybe a engine failing or something. i love heights just the dying part, i also know pilots are trained for hours and hours and they have well experience with all the buttons im just nervous. Oh man, not sure where you are flying from and to, but I know a few people that have this fear. Like you said it is so so safe. Planes just don't go down. I would recommend you grab a exit row seat (be in Group A 1-10) and a window seat. It helps to look out especially if you are not afraid of heights. If you rather not look out, sit in the isle and you won't even know you are in a plane. Take water or/and a coke, snacks and gum. Gum helps! Take good earphones and a movie and it'll take your mind off of it. If you have high anxiety then take a dramamine you can get a non-drowsy formula. It will help calm your nerves. Whatever you do. Don't let this beat you. It's all in your head man. Millions of people fly all over the world every day. It is the safest way to travel by miles. You've looked at the math and know the numbers but now it's an emotional hurdle. Hopefully you are flying with someone who has flown so you have some support. YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!! It is the best feeling and so much fun to just relax and watch something and chill out. Hope this helps. Let me know when you go and how it was ok?!

I have been looking at everything watching many many videos about southwest particularly because that is what i will be flying so i look at southwest, im excited to go and im excited to fly first time, even though im scared im still excited getting out of my comfort zone, and getting out, i always want to travel and wanted to travel sknce i was 6 j just always avoided it cause i was scared only traveled by car, so its me coming out of my comfort zone and trying something new.. its my only fear.

Hi Zachus, my departing flight has a layover with a plane change. Would I need to check in twice for both departing flights, or just the first one? If for both, would I check in using the local time or do I check in using my current time? Thanks!

No, they check you in the whole way through. You'll check in again when you come back. You'll get notified on your app and email but it's your time zone that you are sitting in. So if you are in Texas in CST at 6pm and your flight is tomorrow at 6pm then check-in 24 hours before at 6pm. If you fly to Flordia, then coming back you'll check in on that time zone, EST. Hello. I'm planning on flying with Southwest for the first time, I know I'll have to mandatory wear a mask - but do I need proof of a test before I fly or do they just check your temp. when you go through baggage? Thank you for the advice as well.

You only need COVID test if you are traveling out of the country to a country that requires and and to come back to the US for now. Hopefully the mask mandate will end soon!! It makes flying pretty miserable. If you are checking baggage you will need to arrive a little early and go to the ticket counter when you arrive. They will check your bags, then you go through security. You will pick up your bags when you arrive at your destination.

Use my hack or/and go to the counter at gate and let them know. They don't force anyone to move to Accommodate families. It's possible you'll be split up being that far back... Sorry.

Southwest only has Economy, all their seats are the same. I've flown them for years many many times with no issues. First Class on another Airline or even Economy plus on another airline is always better but if Southwest is your cheapest option or preferred then you should be fine. I would never fly them more than 3 hours probably but that's just me. Hope this helps. Virginia is a beautiful state especially in October. Love it there.

We are flying out next month. It will be myself, husband and 10 year old. When I check is in online 24 hours out will I need to check us each in individually or does checking one in check the whole group in on that same itinerary? Just curious because I know we are all listed as passengers/guests in the same booking flight. Also, would you suggest me printing the boarding pass at home so that we each have a paper copy to hold? My son won’t have a mobile device that will show a boarding pass most likely. Myself and husband will. I assume they can scan it from the paper copy and/or the mobile device? Thanks for the tips! This will be my first big flight and my sons first one. I am SUPER nervous more so about the whole airport process.

If it's all under the same confirmation, bought at the same time should just be one check-in and it'll ask you if everyone is checking in. I would have your husband ready just in case on his login to check-in if needed. I never print anything and haven't for years. The mobile app is easy to use and you can put your boarding passes even now into your Apple Wallet or Google/Samsung Wallet for Android users. If you check a bag, they normally by default will print a boarding pass but I just throw it away. You'll have all boarding passes on your phone. No worries there. It's really easy. Don't be nervous. You'll have a blast! Being A group or top of B will ensure a good seat. Southwest is the airline to fly for your first big flight for sure. Great customer service! Airport you'll show ID for you and your husband at security. They will scan your boarding passes from your phone, they'll do this together all 3 of you just approach the TSA Agent. Then you'll go through security. No liquids like water allowed. Shoes off normally. All Laptop, tablets, phones in. Every airport is different so just follow their direction. They are usually really clear and easy to follow. You don't have to take watch/rings off. Then when you board the plan you'll scan your boarding passes again from your phone or paper. Do what's comfortable to you. Phone is just easier not to lose. Before you board, follow my tips 😉 to get water, drinks snacks etc... also have content ready on your devices and headphones. Have an AWESOME flight!

Oh for sure. Early Bird will get you into A or top of B and you'll be solid. If she's not in A or B, normally you can save the seat next to you for her but it depends on the crew. If you are both in A or top of B you'll be fine. Remember my Hack to at the end of the video ;) it is always an option. Have fun!!

So I read on-line that you can not take a bottle of water or a soft drink (can or bottle) on the plane. So We you saying they will allow it?

Where did you read this haha. I've taken water bottles on board for years. You cannot take them through TSA/Security. You have to buy them at a store after security but you are good to go after that. I've taken large and small water bottles and cokes even a glass water bottle on USA and International flights. No worries. I'm 48 and I haven't had to use an extender on any airline since I lost a few pounds. The best way to do it if you think you need one or you've needed one on another airline, is when you are boarding just lean over to the attendant and tell them you'll need one quietly and they'll bring you one later usually discretely. Try to fly in off peak hours so you have a better chance to of having a extra seat open next to you so you can relax and enjoy the flight. Hope this helps

My advice: be sure to be in A so you can get an isle seat in the exit row. Best seat and gives you extra room and if the flight is full you won't get stuck in the middle. Have fun! Oh I wish I could get my first flight back. It's a rush. I still love it all, taking off, flying and landing. Amazing how fast you can get around. Have an awesome trip!

I don't really know if they have a policy but normally for most airlines you have to be able to sit in one seat, if you take more than one you have to pay for more than one. I'm pretty big and fit and they have extensions for seat belts if you need it but I don't. I would chat or email them or call them and ask. So you are sure before you book. Sorry I can't be more help

They aren't bad. Try to get in A group and you'll get a good seat with leg room. Isles are best for me at least so you don't get shoved in. Exit Rows have a lot of space you don't feel squeezed in. Yeah with Early-Bird it'll auto check you in 24 hours before your flight and you normally end up in A or top of B. Should be fine. Since its your first flight maybe do a window seat, because you'll want to see out. It's majestic and amazing! Let me know how it goes. Contact southwest or when you arrive go to the ticket counter and inform them. They will provide you with anything you need and special assistance through security, to your gate and getting you on the plane. It's really easy.

Thank you for the sub This video was done when Delta had kicked a family with small kids off a flight because their 3 year old couldn't keep a mask on. And another friend had been threatened because the flight attendant didn't think his nose was cover enough you the point she said the FBI would meet him at the gate when they landed. I was livid at them but they reached out actually and apologized to the family and made it right as well as changed their policies. I've also flown them again and they have restored my confidence. COVID made a lot of things really bad and mean... Out of fake fear and zero logic. Hope that helps

I'm not a fan of Southwest now LOL I got stuck in that cancelation still no refunds, had to pay out of pocket to rent a car and drive 9 hours and lost a day with family. so.... won't be flying them for a while. Delta is about to offer FREE wifi for surfing internet, messaging, checking emails on almost of their flights next month! HUGE!!

Viral video on TikTok of a man getting kicked off a Southwest flight for removing his mask to eat a meal he bought at the airport. Employee that was shown in the video was terminated.

Yeah there's some bad apples in all airlines and for some reason Flight Attendants have transformed into dictators about this mask thing even though it makes no sense and has no logic. For Example: I can eat right next to you, touching you, both of us with mask off but when I'm done eating if I don't have my mask on I get hauled off by cops and put on a no flight list... makes zero sense. For me it's been a mixed bag flying. Some flight attendant are cool, others are acting like gods. I had one bug me four times and I was wearing my mask, she just didn't like me and I have no idea why. Even the girl next to me said "she has it out for you" Just always be polite, the rule is to wear a mask so wear it and be considerate of others and you should be fine. Be the bigger the person and remember they are dealing with craziness all day or maybe they are having a bad day or something...
