Before we got our Rott my wife was worried about it because of the bad rap the Rott gets sometimes but after we got him, Boris, I promised her if she was afraid of him we would give him to my brother to raise but within a few days my wife fell in love with him. A good friend of mine trained Rotts for a living and she told me how to raise him from a pup and so I trained him the way she had told me and he was absolutely the sweetest, best dog we ever had. I trained him using voice commands and hand commands and it was amazing how smart he was and how fast he learned. We lost Boris after ten years and it was one of the worst days of our lives. I miss him everyday.

I agree with your advice as I had my first dog a rottie, Alexander. He was the best friend I ever had and we were careful with regular training and raw dirt feeding. My husband believed I loved the dog more than him. Maybe ... We had him for 11 happy years but when he passed suddenly, my heart has been broken ever since. And I am very concerned about replacing him although it's been 5 months since he crossed the rainbow bridge. I miss him every day and every night.

That part about feelings is absolutely true. I have a short story to back this up. I will try to keep it short but I promise its true: When I was about 10 years old my family adopted a young female Rottweiler that was abandoned in our neighborhood. She was very friendly and loved swimming in the pool and playing with my friends and I Fast forward about 7 years and those same friends and I decide to take my fathers boat down to the Keys in Florida one weekend while he was out of town. We couldn't leave her alone so of course we brought her with us including out on the boat. In short; Our Rottweiler tried to fight a tiger shark to protect us. We were anchored above a sand flat in about 30 feet of crystal clear water when 2 of my friends suddenly jump up over the side of the boat absolutely terrified and start shouting shark. Sure enough here comes this big 6 foot tiger shark creeping up to the boat. Annie; the Rottweiler went Crazy. Probably only one of 2 or 3 times in her life I ever saw her act this aggressive. She clearly sensed and understood our fear of the shark. She started barking and staring at the shark. She ran up to the bow and was definitely fixing to jump in and attack when we managed to grab her and calm her down. We promptly started the boat and moved miles away to continue our day. TL;DR My childhood Rottweiler tried to fight a fucking tiger shark to protect her family. These animals understand and care about thier humans and its beautiful. If you take care of them they WILL take care of you in return.

I can see how you have so many thumbs up. You nailed it. My niece and her husband gave us there Rottie at 10 months old. That dog tore their place up. They put it in the spare bedroom while they went to work. The same thing happened. We took her in. About a month later she asked with great concern in fear she caused damage to how things were going. I told her the worse thing the Rottie did was liked the wall and placed her tongue on the glass door. I have no issues with that. My niece asked how I corrected her behavior. I told her she is a working dog. If you don't work then they will work you in ways you do not want. Just like a german shepherd or any other working dog. I asked her a few questions on how much time she worked with the dog. It simply wasn't enough. All I did was walk her and later on play with clicker training. Break up the entertainment a little. I put up an agility course made out of pvc in the back yard. Weave pole and square jump hoops. Kept it real low, about 6-8 inches for young dogs until they were over 1 years old. For young puppies, just lay pipe on the ground. I also had a German Shephard about the same age. It takes about a year dog joint to grow into there sockets. You do not want them to jump high with loose joints. They jump around naturally but that isn't what I am talking about. Back to the solution... I walked my dogs every day for about 20 minutes. When she reached over one year old it went up to 30 to 60 minutes. This Rottie was everything you described. One big loving teddy bear. She developed bone cancer at 11 years old. After she left us and the German Sheperd grew up to 14 years old and is now gone. After a couple months gone by with no dogs, we rescued a Rottie from the shelter this past weekend. It took a couple days for him to settle in. He took to us instantly. Just have to keep an eye on him because everything chew-toy. Other than that, he is a wonderful dog and amazed at how he is so similar to the one we had.

Four things that i realise growing up with rottweilers: 1. Cancer is a "commun" disease for them, i had more than 10 rottweilers in my life, most of my them died with 8-9 years with cancer and it can be anywhere from leg to stomach, so make sure to always check up in the vets, my parents didn't usually do it until it was too late. 2. They only like children that the grow up with, this is not a general thing of course, but usually they get very tense next to kids that they didn't see when they were younger, for example, my dogs love me when i was little and they were puppies, but when they grow up and meet my cousin, niece or any other kid in the family they were really not into it, so just be careful. 3. If u don't traine ur dog, they won't now how strong they are, serious, they are REALLY strong, if you don't traine them they can hurt u without even realising, not fun being push by a rottweiler, so dont be a asshole like my family that says that dogs need to be in their "natural" behavior. 4. They almost never bark, if they bark there is something wrong. Rottweilers are really sweet guys, but they are NOT for everyone, they need time, space, love, patience and a lot of caution.

@@ImperialRottweilers 😊 5. If want two rottweilers make sure to get one first in the house for a couple of months and then get a younger one so they dont fight to see "who is the boss", again not all of them will do that in case u get it at the same time but doing this can prevent a headache. Maybe this happens more often if both are male and more alpha dogs, but i'm not sure.
@professionaljihadi40522 жыл бұрын

So true. We have two rotties and all they have to worry about is food falling from the kids plates, cuddles, adventures and if the cat will get them in their sleep. @seamustherotty93733 жыл бұрын
@@marvingroot7210 by being the dominant one. Food is the best way to show dominance. You say when they eat. Rotties love discipline. They need to know who the leader of the pack is. Been living with rottweilers since the early 80's and the biggest tip of the 5 i would say. That is the feelings. I've been living with them as pets if that makes any sense. Not show dogs or anything. Just living with them. The rottweiler we had some years back. My wife was sick alot and she had to stay in bed alot too. In the summer time it can get really hot here opposed to the rest of the year and the dog was feeling hot like the rest of us but he stayed in the bed with my wife back to back until she fell asleep no matter how hot it was for him he stayed in the bed to make her feel safe. He also followed her around constantly to make sure she was ok. All the rottweilers we had was incredibly loveable. So much feeling. You can look them in their eyes and into their soul almost. Also be aware that this dog has some kind of mental dysfunction since it believes it weighs around 30 pounds and not 130 :D They will very often try and crawl up in your arm chair and cuddle also because of that they can be a little clumsy and bump into stuff because of that. They can find the tiniest spot and still try to fit it :P

I'm used to cleaning up my pugs' little poops in public. Now I've taken in an abandoned Rottweiler and I'm wondering how I should expect to clean up her poop on sidewalks? I mean the sloshy, smeary stuff at the bottom of the pile. Any suggestions?
@anyascelticcreations2 жыл бұрын
@@montag4516 Honesty, I don't think that stuff is possible to clean up. But Ideally her poops won't be like that for long. While she's adjusting to her new home and new food her poops will be just like you described. But that should change as her anxiety calms down and her tummy gets used to her food. From what I hear, Rotts do better on a raw food diet. Apparently their tummies can handle that better. If you decide to try that you'll need to switch her onto it slowly. But even just the switch from whatever she was eating before to what you're feeding her now could cause that. It's pretty common while adjusting to different food. It can take a few weeks for their tummies to settle down. Also, It wouldn't be a bad idea to talk to your vet about deworming her. Intestinal parasites can cause that kind of poop, too. But if that's the cause her poops should be better once the worms are gone. My rescue Boxer is very prone to that, too. Anxiety is her top cause. Followed by food change. I did give her a tablespoon or so of Greek yogurt a few times after she'd been on antibiotics. Too much dairy makes her poops too soft. But a tiny bit of unflavored Greek Yogurt seemed to really help. I wonder if the probiotics in the yogurt would help with anxiety/food change tummy issues, too. Kudos for taking on your new Rotty friend. And I hope her tummy feels well enough to have easier to manage poops soon.

Excellent tips! I would add exercise and long walks at least 1x per day everyday, especially if you don't have a backyard. They need to be active they are bred to be active and on the move. Giving them daily exercise/walks will helps prevent unwanted chewing on household items. Chewing is a sign of a dog that's not being fully engaged. Rotties are very smart research jobs/activities/ training that challenges them and gives them things to do. When their mind is engaged in positive activities, chewing and other unwanted activities won't be a problem. Dogs are social. You as their owner is their world. If they don't see you most of the time it can be stressful. You're out socializing and interacting with people. Think about who your socialize with besides you? Like he said think of their feelings too. Give them time to be active, socialize with different dogs, people, environments, be out of the house so when you're away for longer time it won't be bad because they have fun engaging things to do with you when you're with them. Imagine if you were your dog,what would you want? Not being locked in the house all the time comes to my mind, along with being loved and well cared for.

Thank you for this amazing informative video. I am picking my female Rottweiler puppy up in three days. I already own two Cane Corso's. The expense is high. 8,000.00 to fence one acre of backyard land for my dogsl in 8ft tall fencing. I am still installing roller bar across the top of the fence. Almost finished. I feed Canidae all life stages 5 times a week and Blue Buffalo 2 times a weak. I give raw treats and eggs. I add 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil to their food. 375.00 a month for two Cane Corso's and the cost will go up when i pick up Melificent my Rottweiler. Will this diet also work for a Rottweiler? I want my new fur baby to have the best of everything. I am able to be home all the time now. My children are grown. My dogs are my babies. I spend all my time with them. If I do travel they go with me and I arrange boarding. This is also expensive. I also take my dogs to the groomer for nail trims and a good bath and brush. This is expensive. Vet care and medication is more expensive for large dogs. They are a life long commitment. The training i put in and time working with them pays off. You just can't love a dog too much. I made a mistake and left my dogs for 3 hours not kenneled. They ate leather sofa and tore baseboards from my wall. Ouch. That mistake was costly. I had to baby proof my home and put chemicals way up high and locked away. I am so excited for my new puppy. Now to go watch more of your videos after I subscribe. Thank you again. I want a rottweiler so bad, but I live in an apartment and I work a 12 hour shift. I wouldn't even feel comfortable getting a dog right now. My motivation for getting a house with a huge backyard. I can't wait.

I noticed with my Rottweiler. We can't go on vacation or go out of town for a few days. Or my 2 yr old Rottweiler gets depressed and won't eat or anything. We have to bring are Rottweiler with us anytime we are gone afew days. They are a very loyal dog.

random guy 23 23 each dog breed has its negatives and positives. German Shepard’s are easier to train but shedding is worse. I have had both breeds and honestly they’re very similar

Those are Two Different Worlds, You Have a Dog right Now who is Not Strong Willed or Headstrong at All and would Love anybody who comes around You. When you get that Rott your getting a Dog that is Very Headstrong & Does not Like Strangers who they weren't Introduced too.

Hey. Good job on the video. I am 18 years old and have a full time job and my own place. I have been wanting a dog specifically a Rottweiler for years and now I am in a financial spot to where I know I can afford to own one. What more tips would you give before I adopt one. I found one at a shelter I really have fallen in love with. I am hoping to be able to go meet her soon. Would you say they are very tough dogs to take care of? I do have a family farm and open space for the dog to be able to run and burn off energy

Looking at investing in possibly a Rottweiler bc my husband is going to be out of the house for 16 hours a day once we move, I have 4 kids age 9,7,4 and 2 so need a good family dog and guard dog. Just doing as much research as I can before I make the decision. Thanks for this.

Nice brotha, I had my American bulldog pass and decided to buy one of these. She's 8 weeks as of yesterday and I can definitely say she is fun to have smart and wants to chew everything in her path lol. But I'm gonna have fun with her. Never owned a rottweiler but I think if I could handle and very well train a 220lbs American bulldog I should be fine with her also. But your baby girl is beautiful
