Lukas, I wanted to update you after my 1st comment (Just Below). I've had my Blonde Tone Master for about 2 weeks now. All I can say is "WOW", I thought it was going to be a decent amp for sure. Never did I expect it to "Blow Me Away" the way it has. Playing Clean or with one of my Pedal Boards is a pleasure. I've played (many) of my guitars through it and I've yet to be disappointed. I feel bad for my 65 Deluxe Reverb (Tube) or my PRS 50 Amp (tube) because I haven't turned them on since I got the Blonde. Obviously, there's nothing wrong (at all) with my 65 or the PRS, I've just being having so much fun with the Tone Master. Once again, thank you so much for your 5 Tips video it's very well done and very informative. I'm turning 77 years old soon and have been doing this for a long time. Even though I'm basically a Blues guy, it's obvious that this amp can handle a (Lot) of genres quite well, Thanks again my friend...

I play, normally, with my Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb (Tube) Amp but I'm considering getting the same Fender Tone Master that you have. So, looks like firmware changes are reversible. I've been avoiding changes, as for my purposes, my stock TMDR black sounds perfect, but could possibly tweak the reverb response, and the IR could be better. Just want to be sure NOT to lose the bright cap sound!! I happen to love tones WITH the bright sound, as I use my neck pickup and the bright tone to get the tones I want/need.

I have a Twin Reverb Tonemaster Blonde and yeah, it can get really loud, really quickly once you flip the attenuation control from one setting to the next. I wouldn't recommend jumping more than two without testing. That being said, I think it sounds great with or without pedals.

@@LMGuitarCorner Hi! I use input two for the Guitar with hotter pickups. My Strat, Telly and Gretsch I'll play through input 1 but my Les Paul (and sometimes Gretsch), is through input 2. I found there is a bit of a difference in gain between input 1 and input 2. If I want to play with a lot of gain on the Les Paul, I'll use input 1 and dial back the volume on the amp. Effects wise, I use them with all guitars on both inputs. I have a Boss DD-8, JHS 3 Chorus, PackRat, Bonsai, Bender and Smiley fuzz. Both channels seem to sound good to me with effects.

@@STVG71 Hey, thanks a lot for responding. I think it's great that the amp offers many possibilities. I usually run my pedalboard into the normal channel and use input 1 on either channel. If the guitar has humbuckers, I sometimes switch to input 2 for a less overdriven tone. Cheers, Lukas

Hello! Great video! Quick question. I have the Focusrite audio card like you. I connected the XLR to the amp, then to the card. Amp is on standby like you said and the Focusrite is on. But it’s not working. Any idea why? Am I doing something wrong? The volume on the balance OUT is at “10”. Anything to suggest?
@LMGuitarCorner
@LMGuitarCorner 4 ай бұрын
Hi there. Thanks a lot! Hmm I can't spot an obvious mistake there. My setup is the same. The Focusrite is usually hooked up to my laptop via USB. Then there's the XLR coming from the Tone Master. The volume is usually rather low, maybe around 4-6. And like I say in the video, you should be able to get a signal when the amp is in standby mode (speaker deactivated, but still on) for silent recording. Did you ever manage to get any signal from the amp to the Focusrite? Maybe it's the cable, maybe the input on the Focusrite you're using is not working? Cheers, Lukas

Hi, I am curious about using backing tracks via instrument input by inserting mp3 / notebook output signal. Normally I would say this signal is too strong (line level) for the instrument input. Maybe I am wrong, but is that ok? Thanks, Peter
@LMGuitarCorner
@LMGuitarCorner Жыл бұрын
If you keep the output level extremely low this should work, as it's done also with other amps. However, the low impedance output will make the amp very noisy, as it expects a high impedance. There are two ways you can solve the issue. There are reamp boxes designed to do just that, get a line signal back to the level and impedance used on pedals and amps. The second option is, you can use a pedal with buffered bypass inbetween. This would also get the impedance back up to what the amp expects. Again you would have to be careful with the level. But you would have to use it at your own risk obviously. Cheers, Martin

Great video! If I understood correctly, even without an fx loop we can use a looper pedal? I was kinda worried that it wasn’t possible! What I am asking is if it will be possible to record a clean rhythm in the vibrato channel and then switch to the normal channel where I have a lead sound with some pedals? Thanks
@LMGuitarCorner
@LMGuitarCorner Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Don't confuse an FX loop with a looper - you can use a looper pedal with any kind of amp and just run it through the regular input. There is no need for an FX loop, but it makes certain things easier. In case of the Deluxe Reverb, you can record a loop with your looper pedal and play it through the vibrato channel and then plug your guitar into the normal channel with pedals etc. This works perfectly fine, just as you described it (also, I just tested it 5 minutes ago, just to be 100% sure). Cheers, Lukas

@@LMGuitarCorner Hey Lukas, thanks for your answer. So do I need to UNPLUG my guitar in order to switch channels? Doesn’t seem very practical. I would like to be able to record a clean sounding loop while playing live (on the vibrato channel) and then solo over that (on the normal channel with a distortion pedal), without unplugging the guitar. Does this works or must I use an ABY pedal in order to make it work? Sorry I’m kinda noob in this stuff! 😅
@LMGuitarCorner
@LMGuitarCorner Жыл бұрын
@@fmeskita1 Okay, let's start with the obvious: You cannot switch the channels on a Deluxe Reverb via footswitch or toggle switch. To play through one of the channels, you need to plug into that channel. So you don't have to unplug the guitar, but you have to get 2 signal chains - one to the vibrato channel with the looper and one to the normal channel with the pedalboard. Instead of plugging into those different chains manually, you could do so with an ABY pedal. I use the Lehle Little Dual for that. The signal chain would then be "Guitar -- Cable -- ABY Pedal" and from there 1) the signal chain to the vibrato channel with the looper pedal inbetween and 2) the signal chain to the normal channel with the pedal board inbetween. Meaning you are plugged into both channels at the same time and can then switch using the ABY switcher. There is no other or more practical way - if you don't use an ABY pedal you have to unplug something as you cannot switch from normal to vibrato channel any other way than plugging into the channel. All clear now? If so - please leave a sub ;-) Cheers, Lukas

@Alberto Boetti Hey there Alberto. Not sure what the problem is, but try the following things: Since you mention a "thin sound" - is it possible that the cabinet sim is off? If so, try selecting 1 or 2 on the back. Also on the back there is a knob for the line out volume, did you try adjusting that? On your scarlett, try to change from "INST" to "LINE" and adjust the gain knob. Last but not least, try different headphones with the Scarlett. Please let me know if any of those tips helped! That piece that you are pushing into the hole in the amp is called a plug. The hole that you are pushing it into is called the jack. Actually it is vibrato, not tremolo. The foot switch controls vibrato, not tremolo.
@Breuschling11
@Breuschling11 8 ай бұрын
Actually, it is tremolo and was misnamed by Leo Fender who confused vibrato and tremolo. Vibrato affects pitch, tremolo affects volume. He also misnamed the vibrato bar on the Strat too. He called it the tremolo bar but working it affects pitch, not volume. So that should have been called a vibrato, not a tremolo.

Hey man, can you help me figure out if there's something wrong with my Tone Master Deluxe Blonde? You have a humbucker guitar and a Focusrite interface, so you're the best possible person to ask. (I also don't have access to any other copies of the amp to A/B them lol) KZbin won't let me post links but please have a listen to 16SOk0MltrrF on Vocaroo. My settings are input 2 on the vibrato channel, bridge humbucker. Tone and volume on guitar at 10. On the amp: volume 10, treble 5, bass 5, reverb 3. XLR out straight into the Focusrite, with the switch on the back set to position 1 (SM-57). In the clip I'm playing the 12th fret on both the B and G strings. You can hear this buzzing sound that kind of fades out along with the notes but is a set of different frequencies. This amp's entire overdrive sound tbh sounds buzzy and nasty and fizzy, stark contrast from the glorious demos I've seen on KZbin. Can you please please please replicate my settings with your bridge humbucker and check if you get the same sound? Posting/sending me the clip would be even better. It would help me know that my amp is or isn't broken lol. I've liked and subscribed btw. 🙏🙏🙏

@Stefan Nita You will be happy to hear that it sounds the same with my amp and therefore is most likely not an issue with your amp. I've recorded a 15 sec clip for you to verify. Vol and Tone on Guitar on 10, Vibrato channel input 2, vol 10, bass and treble on 5. Heres the link: voca(dot)ro/1ibF1YD2YZJe What helps is recuding the bass to maybe 3 and increase the treble, this should overall sound more pleasing. Btw, I've seen in several forum posts that the tube Deluxe Reverb also is too bassy when the volume is turned up and most people compensate for this by reducing the bass. Cheers, Lukas

Hey there. You mean for the firmware updates? You're right, they should have included one. For me personally it was no problem as I have more than enough of them laying around 😉

@@LMGuitarCorner I go all the way Mr Lukas, up to the fast blinking part that lasts only about 12 seconds for me, the damned bright cap wont go away. I tried like 7 different USB cables but none seems to handle data properly. Thanks for the reply btw, cheers.

Hi Lukas, great demo. I have one question for around 13:12, there is a humming/buzzing noise in the background. I have the same thing on mine and I notice when I have a pedalboard in front of the amp, that background noise gets amplified. Do you have any suggestions on how to eliminate that? What volume/wattage would you recommend at bedroom level to get a clean sound with headroom for pedals?
@LMGuitarCorner
@LMGuitarCorner Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thanks a lot for the kind words! I just checked the timestamp. I think the noise comes from cranking the volume on the amp. With higher gain you always get some amount of humming/buzzing, which is normal for guitar amps. It is also what tube amps do - and since the Tone Master is modeled after a tube amp, I guess it also replicates the hum. I don't think you can eliminate this entirely - when you use overdrive/distortion pedals you also get a lot of noise. Try reducing the volume on the amp to 3 - that's where it is not breaking up. In terms of wattage - I mostly play on the 0.5 watts setting at home. If you want more headroom, increase it by a couple of notches and reduce the volume of the channel. Also, the vibrato channel breaks up earlier -> try the normal channel, maybe even input 2, in conjunction with a pedalboard. Hope this helps! Cheers, Lukas

Hi. I own the black version of the amp. Love it. Reg. the attenuator, I find that the 0,2 watt position does not reflect the true sounds of the amp. It misses the depth and feel of it whereas the other positions sound more equal. Rarely play the full 22watts and surely not in bedroom😆

You missed the most important Tone Master tip... Put a Fender MTG Tube pedal in front of it. Gives it that warm room filling tone that tubes give you. And... if you are going to split the guitar signal you should use a buffered splitter pedal. Else your signal cut in half.
@LMGuitarCorner
@LMGuitarCorner 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your additions. I don't have the Fender MTG Tube pedal so... Yeah :D Cheers Lukas Edit: I don't run both channels simultaneously, so nothing is cut in half when I use the ABY pedal.

@@LMGuitarCorner So if you just play "A" or "B" alone the guitar signal isn't weakened?
@LMGuitarCorner
@LMGuitarCorner Жыл бұрын
I don't think so. I use it like an amp switcher basically and haven't noticed a drop in volume/signal compared to when I'm only plugged into one channel. Using both channels at the same time wouldn't work, just like you mentioned. Cheers, Lukas Further experiences from other people: www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/any-deluxe-reverb-owners-use-both-channels.409890/

@@amelia8612 Thank you Amelia for confirming I'm not the only one who has noticed what this pedal does for the Tone Masters! I hate to sound like a Fender fan boy... But the next step is the Fender The Bends compressor pedal, if you like using compressors. If for no other reason it is the most quiet compressor you'll ever find. It's also very smooth and blends well into this combination. I rented at least a dozen different compressors and none compared to The Bends for quietness. I think it is the nature of compressors to add some hiss. The more you compress the more hiss.
