It reminds me when I first started my life with guns here in Czech Republic a year ago. We are kinda unique in Europe because our citizens can conceal carry, we also have small 2A in our constitution, anyway so I was looking for a holster but market here is small and I wasn't satisfied with anything, but then I watched your video about summer carry where you introduce me the mighty belly bend. That thing changed my life forever. I'm small skinny guy but I can still conceal full sized guns comfortably. Only thing you didn't mention is sweating but my glock is immune to rust so no problem. So what I want to say is thank you James.
@maximilianmustermann57634 жыл бұрын
@kim paul b. most European countries allow their citizens to buy firearms for sports shooting and hunting (with varying degrees of legal tape around it) but I think the Czech Republic is the only one where normal citizens are allowed to conceiled carry. Pretty cool. They have a pretty good IPSC scene there, too.

When it comes to choosing find a range that rents various brands and try them to see what is right for you. Great point in finding reputable training, heavily research those that you are interested in. Lastly do not be afraid to carry with one in the chamber, seconds count. Thanks for letting me ramble.

The way people approach a problem is only based off of there experience of lack there of, and one of the greatest resources of innovation is not those that know what to do, but those that don't know what they are "supposed" to do. The newbie is still a newbie, but sometimes they see things and raise questions that experience has taught us not to question. I think that these veterans on this video show some wonderful modesty and adaptability, for admitting they learn from students and they learn from other operators in their fields. I am just a truck driver, with a family I worry about all the time, because I am on the road, but i would say I instantly gained respect for these fellows, because of their attitudes. If you are new and looking for a concealed carry pistol, my experience has led me to conclude that Walther PPS M2 and PPQsc are great options. I've seen a range put over 20,000 rounds through a PPQ without any parts failures. My personal PPS M2 has never malfunctioned in any way over the course of 2,600 rounds of all types of 9mm ammo (hollow points, FMJ, 115 gr., 147 gr.). I will also say, if you have $250 to spend, and that's it, Taurus G2c was my second concealed carry gun when I first got into firearms, and I had zero issues with it; 100% reliable over 800 rounds. Taurus Model 85 snub nose revolver was my first gun; it was also reliable but only held five rounds.

Competition shooting is where people can hugely increase their skills. Why? Because you will need to draw from holster, reload and move while you shoot. I've been a 3 gun, USPSA, IDPA competition shooter for over 10+ years and I've seen people go novice to master in my career. I've seen people who struggled with reloads perfect their reload. Competition shooting is where you will gain and learn so much skills.

My best advice to anyone looking to buy some gear like a load bearing vest, magazine pouches, belts, knee pads, ect. Go on ebay and find a legit military surplus seller. You can buy really well made gear for next to nothing. You'll never find better equipment for less money, period. It's all made by defense contractors in the US and it's made to function in the field. When the stuff becomes "surplus" you can buy it for a fraction of what it's worth. I have tons of equipment that was actually used to fight wars, and I spent like 10 bucks for a vest, 5 for mag pouches, 13 for pants, maybe 10 for knee and elbow pads, ect. That same gear through a different source would cost you several hundred dollars or more. So go buy 2nd hand military stuff, you cannot beat it, I promise.

"I don't think you need to go out and buy a $3500 gun. Recommends $3700 Nighthawk Custom 1911." Also, there was mainly a bunch of sales pieces here. Fair enough, there has to be a product to an idea though. A good belt, good holster, and a good gun. The belt is like $70, and the interesting one with MOLLE webbing is up to $160. And the holsters average at about $89. None of these brands or products I can find in a gun store though. It's all special order if someone was to ask. I get by with my leather belt from target, with a moldable and modular rubber holster I got for small-of-the-back carry at $35, and a Glock 26. Nothing to scoff at since altogether in total it was all under $500. I have a Serpa OWB holster, just like the one from the Army, for my Glock 17 which still isn't $89. These additional products that were mentioned are great for someone in this line of work who is looking for durability and appeal.

@6:15 -- That's a BIG POINT to be made about gun shop sales people: they're not going to sell you what's best for YOU. They're going to try to sell you what they have in stock. It's very rare that you find sales staff who are shooters, who train regularly, who keep up with the current research and development, and who will bring that knowledge to bear in helping the customer find what they need for their particular purpose, especially when it comes to personal/home defense. Anybody (family, friends, salespeople or other) who starts off by saying dumb shit like ".45 ACP... Because shooting twice is stupid" likely... 1) doesn't know what they're talking about and needs to get up-to-date with the current data on ballistics performance, 2) may be a good shot* (*at the range shooting at paper targets while NOT under duress) but has no clue about what it's like in a real gunfight where you may not always hit your target on the first shot and the threat may not always be stopped with one bullet. So do yourself a favor and talk to shooters who train and talk to instructors. Hell, KZbin is full of content from credible people in the firearms community. Put in the time and watch all the videos you can on whatever topic is of interest to you. Heaven knows I've watched probably ten thousand hours of gun-related videos over the years since the very first days KZbin became a thing.
