these are the type of videos that should be on the reason studios channel, always frustrates me that they dont support content creators (like yourself) that are offering the advice to reason users that reason studios are too lazy to create for the users themselves

Thanks! They support from time to time. They shared my subtractor video. Highlight of the channel so far… It’s interesting because I’ve never seen a DAW with such a cult-like following. (FL, maybe) They could lean into it more. You are right in that regard. Oh and they could fix the sequencer. 😑 (Rack is nearly perfect, tho) Thanks for your comment!

To Jump to the Left marker, press Numpad 1. Right marker, Numpad 2. Prev/Next bar, Numpad 7/8. There's more on numpad but that's what I use the most.

Don't know what i'm doing wrong? Friend help needed :)

Not sure if it was already mentioned: if you have a keyboard with number block, you can use Numpad 1 to jump to the Left Location, Numpad 2 for the Right Locator, Numpad * to start recording, Numpad / to toggle the loop, Enter to start playback and so on... those ones are really handy. And especially if you come from Cubase, this will help, as the keys are laid out the same way

what features would you want in reason? or what they shouldve been had?
@itsdjQuasar
@itsdjQuasar 2 жыл бұрын
A lot to do with the sequencer. -MIDI capture (records midi all the time so you don’t miss that cool thing you just played) -MIDI comping -MPE -VST 3 (duh, haha) -Automatic fades as an option -Slide notes like FL/Ableton -“Fold” midi to only see the notes you’ve written - I wish you could map modifier keys for things. Hitting “R” for razor and then “Q” to go back to pointer is tedious. If I could just hold down a modifier or if they had a smart tool…. What about you? What’s on your wishlist? Thanks for the comment and for watching!

@@itsdjQuasar those things you said i want too i used them in studio one besides vst3, i dont use outside effects only RE. for my 22 years experience every daw has things i dont like 😂 so i sat back and ask myself what features are very important to me and which ones i can go without. but still get job done. 1. i do it for a hobby 2. i use daws for business i record mix & master alot of artist
@MusicFromTheBlackBox

@@itsdjQuasar For me it's in no particular order: 1) Folding track groups 2) Muting/Soloing group tracks in the sequencer 3) Able to drag tracks using other than only the small darker bar on the far left 4) Disable focus on play cursor (different from follow song), aka just centring the selected block when pressing enter (just like "Z" works) 5) bigger dots in automation 6) Better fitting colors 7) Bigger fold arrows 8) Track names below eachother regardless of automation tracks are active or nog (I use nektar so use the sequencer to navigate devices, sometimes hard to find because the names are all over the place)

@@itsdjQuasar do you have any recommendations on using an external hard drive to run audio from and to as a 2nd hard drive? Be a great video for us Reason users! My 2012 MacBook Pro is bogging down now…
@itsdjQuasar
@itsdjQuasar 2 жыл бұрын
@@mattavalon hmmm.. that's an interesting one. I do use an external but mostly for soundbanks (omnishpere, kontakt, etc.) I use a smansung ssd. It also helps with video editing. In fact, I eally only needed it for video editing (where you need really fast seek times to keep the video smooth) otherwise, audio is not the most taxing thing for your computer to render. So an SSD in music production will give you more space or spread the load (a tad) but it wont make the hugest difference in performance (except that your patches will load faster wich is nice but not necessary). Performance will be more based on processor and RAM. As far a I can tell. To sum up: -If the problem is Kontakt (or similar) taking way to long to load the samples, an SSD can help. -If the problem is Reason can no longer handle high track counts and stutters if you add too many plugins? SSD can't do much for that. Did that help?
@mattavalon
@mattavalon 2 жыл бұрын
@@itsdjQuasar thank you for the great response. Since I’ve started bouncing to audio from plug-ins like Arcade by Output, it’s stared stuttering a lot. I upgraded the HDD on the 2012 pro which helped a lot, especially with boot up time. I have maxed the RAM to 16gb (8 each slot). Think it’s an i5 processor 2.5GHz. I have a couple of ssd usb 1TB drives so might experiment. How do I locate and allocate the audio bounced parts, so they can be read by the system… bit confusing. Appreciate your advice!
