Had Reason Adapted since version 2.5, when Malstrom came along in version 3, it became my fav synth ever since! Even after Thor, even after some hardware synths and modules. Only thing getting my attention now is Europa.

It always confused me as an instrument since I was used to Thor and Subtractor. However, taking what I have learned about wavetable synthesis and looking at this through new eyes, it is pretty awesome. Thanks for making this and getting me to rethink this instrument.

The nature of the program in that new shiny devices that get added eclipse the old ones. Also when the OG ones were released, there wasn't KZbin or people showcasing them. Reason Studios has so many great devices that don't get the recognition they deserve. Perhaps if they gave them a shiny coat of paint and maybe a few new features they could bring them back into the limelight.
@itsdjQuasar2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Isn’t that true of all things! Always something new and shiny. We would be forced to do the same, perhaps, in Reason Studios position. Luckily there’s some OGs out there who can showcase the classics. I hear you on that shiny coat of paint idea. I’ll do my best to shine light on the greats of the rack. You just keep watching!

Malstrom is literally the main Reason synth I love the most Oh, and I forgot to add. It's funny when it comes to 3rd party virtual instruments, everyone is Gaga for replica of vintage sounds and interfaces. And yet, people put down Reason's synths for being "out dated" uhhmmm... they're all amazing. Even with my obsessively cast Soft synth collection (and a UVI Sound pass subscription), there are sounds and energy only the Reason Synths have. especially with Malestrom
@itsdjQuasar2 жыл бұрын
You make a solid point here. Like, do you like it old school or not? I’m just glad we have our version of “vintage” we don’t have to worry about what “they” think. 🙃
@TampaRedd Жыл бұрын
When ever I hear these expensive synth demos with all these 'unique' sounds, I'm like "I got that in Malstrom!" Funny how if it's hardware, it's vintage, but if it's software, it's outdated.
@itsdjQuasar Жыл бұрын
@@TampaRedd True. It's only a matter of time before we see software as "vintage" in the same way. Gotta wait for the "retro effect" to kick in. 🙂

your right about people talking down on reason synths and instruments. most of...well everything is modeled after analog gear in real life

Awesome Vid.. Just saw yesterday that MALs has been hiding in the back of the room with some of the most power for modern music. Wonder if I can get that pitch bend (In Mod A) to start at the initial hit of a note and bend up to the actual note that is played?

Yeah. Find the pluck shape in the Mod shape selector and set the mod to one shot.

@@itsdjQuasar Listen to it with headphones, try Patch 8. You can even hear your phone interfering at one point. And yes, the audio is clipping at some point in the signal chain. It wasn't too bad but it's definitely there. Just thought I'd point it out in case you hadn't noticed. Cheers!

Hi, the malstrom combis don't work in reason suite 11 (bad or corrupt files)
@itsdjQuasar Жыл бұрын
They are made using the new combinator. I don’t think Reason 11 has it.
@EluZiveTrance2 жыл бұрын
Also is that selig gain module stock with reason plus
@Sool1012 жыл бұрын
No I don't think so but I don't have Reason plus but go get it anyway. My most used reason plugin I use it on everything, sometimes 2 instances since not all devices in the effect rack have volume/gain and you need that after the last you use in the rack or combinator, crucial for gainstaging. Or use it on top so you can control how hot your signal will hit a plugin. 'vintage' modelled plugins work optimal with a certain input level and they really do. So yeah.
@itsdjQuasar Жыл бұрын
@@Sool101 Agreed. Worth every penny.

I highly doubt you have never used the Malstrom before considering 3 only had Melstrum and Subtractor as synths. You telling Me You used only NN19 and Subtractor?
@itsdjQuasar2 жыл бұрын
Yeah. That’s what I’m telling ya. I also only used reason as rewire to other Daws back then. Protools and then Logic. Used a lot of Rex files back then and sampled stuff using recycle. Couldn’t play chords or anything at that time. Didn’t even really dive into synthesis until reason 5 maybe 6 but it was sylenth, again cause I was in logic, rewiring. Reason was pretty much a huge drum machine for me back then. Thanks for watching!!
