Great idea. I have 8 sisters, only one is a narc. My entire life until about 4 years ago, I was a wreck, emotionally, and I felt crazy because I was the only one who would point out the evil that my sister did. She made me feel like I was crazy. Thankfully, others saw it, and spoke up. I'm now free from that nightmare. I can't even imagine a mother being that way. So much respect for B.

As a grandparent who has 2 dil's, I made a committment to myself a LONG time ago. I will never talk ill of my children or their spouses (and even if they become ex's) and grandchildren (and their friends and their other family members) to ANYONE, no matter what has happened or will happen. Once you make that committment, it makes moving forward from situational conflicts much much easier. You don't base your behavior on what other's say. You don't model bad behavior in other words. Empathy, while at times difficult to show, breeds more empathy. No one said it is going to be easy. You role model and you listen and you apologize when appropriate. You tell people you love them. You hold their hand. You try to understand various points of view. It requires strength. But you can go to bed with a clear conscience. As a grandparent, you are the family elder, as I am. We are all terribly imperfect, but we must try to look beyond your own selfishness.

As a former teacher who had a student whose parents were not amicably divorced, I can tell you that the dynamics between those parents made me and my co teacher’s job very difficult. We were often put in the middle of silly arguments and privy to information that was none of our business, but the real victim in the whole dynamic was their son.

YES! Dealing with divorced or divorcing parents who cannot get along is horrible. I've had parents who couldn't even agree on what name I was supposed to call their child. I just asked the child what HE wanted me to call him. And the parents who bash one another to me and tell me super private, embarrassing details about their ex. It's so toxic and as a teacher, I want no part of that. I just need basic details and to be aware so I can give that child more TLC. It's so heartbreaking to see what this does to their children.

all this can happen to grandparents that are iced out when their child passes away and the living parent, of your precious grandchild, gets into another relationship and moves miles away so that you cannot be in the child's life. The only thing that matters is the child's comfort and happiness. I wish grown adults would think of someone other than themself when they don't get their way, or things go south, or someone dies. It's sad

I would love to hear how Big Girl Parenting came into play. This is your reminder :) timestamp 21:47. It seems like Brynn could see Bethenny actively working through these challenges with problem solving strategies, versus trying to grease them over with manipulation the way a competitive insecure parent might have a tendency to do. I’m sure there is a parallel with how this can relate to working out problems and solving major challenges in business too.

This is the first time I have finally heard someone put words to the feelings my grandparents used to do to us as kids of divorce. And we were already teenagers when it happened so we were already atuned to the situation we lived through before the separation. It certainly alienates us from them after a certain tipping point! Bethenny, this episode is sooo important. In my opinion, this is the information we should be encouraged to take on board prior to marriage and kids. If this information was included as compulsory reading before the "I do's", maybe, just maybe, children wouldn't feel as conflicted & torn between parents as they often do, & maybe the parents would be less stressed as they understand the best way forward regarding how to co-parent without conflict.?. 🤔 Loved this Bethenny 🤗💯👊

Bethenny! You being made to feel less than at a communion is unacceptable. On behalf of Catholics, please know that this does not represent how Catholics are to treat people no matter what . I know that this is not the point of this podcast but it broke my heart. I went through a divorce, as well, so the rest of the podcast wasn‘t lost on me but I just had to comment on the Catholic portion because that is a very hurtful event. As a Catholic, myself, I just want to express that the church is supposed to be a welcome, loving place. I‘m sorry for your experience due to the divorce. 🙏❤️

I agree, our scenario is the mom says she’ll be there and she is a no show, so your the parent who gave that person your time to be there. The poor kid is who suffers because now, no one is there. She definitely hates the dad more than she loves her kids, and will do anything to destroy him, she’s the one that wanted the divorce. Very sad for the kids

Yes I can relate to this as my parents divorced when I was 11. They didn’t do competitive parenting that I noticed, but did used to slag eachother off a bit. And I used to hate it, even into adulthood, if they had to be in the same room or see or speak to eachother. It would make me very uncomfortable. Before sh*t hit the fan when I was a child and it all went down, I had no idea of any problems or anything. You can imagine the shock for a child my age. My brother was 13. Then seemingly weeks (probably months) later, my dad moves my new step mum in. No conversation. I stayed living with my dad as my mum moved out. But no conversation. I love both my parents but you can imagine there’s a little trauma from some of that. Some things that happened around that time I’ve never spoken to anyone about since. Not even my husband of 10 years (together 16) Saying that I had a good childhood overall, and especially before that.

Our grandson's mother just thinks it's to out shine her parents. We have never spoken a bad word in front of the kids about their mothers. What is wrong with Bethenny? I’m serious. Can’t she see that maybe she shouldn’t be giving advice on relationships and now competitive parenting? What could she have to say on this matter. I’m quite certain that Jason doesn’t have a chance when it comes to being competitive with Bethenny Frankel and her wealth, which she flaunts daily.

What is wrong with YOU? She went through a hellish divorce from a creep who tried to buy and sell her, and now she's warning other women of the pitfalls of marrying and trying to divorce the wrong kind of person. As for competition, Jason could give her a run for her money by having 2 parents with whom he's close, and perhaps an extended family. No money in the world can make up for a tribe of people who love you, and Bethenny has already alluded to Jason knowing this and using it to get one up on her. He's also likely very wealthy himself from the divorce, so it's not like he can't try to buy their daughter's affections, too, if he chose to.

She doesn’t give relationship advice, this series is about the divorce process. Also, she felt that Jason had the bigger family and she couldn’t complete. You must be new here.
