Thank you for this video. My daughter is nearly 4 months old, we will do a mix of BLW and traditional purees. Lots of live from Germany.

It’s my pleasure! Sounds like a great plan. I think I am going to do a mixture with my 5month old when she starts solids next month.

Do you have videos on how to transition babies from purées to finger foods? That’s what we are struggling with right now. Our baby seems to want to put a whole fistful of finger foods in his mouth so I don’t trust him with it. He also still gags on purées sometimes. He is 10 months (9 months adjusted).

Sometimes they manage finger food better as it provides a stronger stimulus. I started my son on Finger food at 7 months because he would not take a spoon. I was scared as hell and of course he gagged but I started with just on Stick of raw carrot. He didnt really eat but he was happy exploring and learning about how much his mouth can handle. He didnt manage to get sth off. Next step was cooked carrot Stick. He didnt ate anything the 1st meal... too exciting mushing it. Start Show, be Patient. We have a saying around here: food under 1 ist just for fun. He might just be too young.

I feed my 8 mo baby handheld foods for snack time; so far she has held & eaten an egg w prompting & graham crackers without help. Scrambled eggs seem easy for her to handle & cheese is also a good one for her to play around w

Thanks for this informative video. Made me feel a Lot better about offering relatively cool food, aß I noticed our girl would take it better. Now I know why! I would be so interested in a video about how to transition from spoon feeding to self feeding. Any tips?

Thank u for videos. Would you please make a video about baby's food at 7,8,9,10...months. What berries or fruits and vegetables better to give and which better to avoid and start yo give later. And how much baby should (5 tsp or?) Or maybe you already have such videos, give me link, please. I tried to find, but couldn't. Thank you

Hi! I don't have a specific video on this topic but this is a link to an excellent resource on suitable food options for babies at each month: health.act.gov.au/sites/default/files/2020-05/From%20Milk%20to%20More.pdf

Thank you for this video! What do you think about the spoons with the anti-choking barrier? I started mashrd foods with my 5 month old a few weeks ago and since he started to grab the spoon out of my hands from the first minute on I started to fill the spoon a little and give it to him. With a "normal" baby spoon he promptly shoved it way to far in and gagged a lot so I chose the one with the barrier. In my opinion this works but I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing?

In this month, April, my baby boy turned 6 months. He is breastfeeding only rejecting all solids. Earlier during his 3 months he rejected breast milk and preferred solids. Now the breast milk you could tell can't satisfy his hunger and he hardly sleeps without the mother breastfeeding him. He is very active, any suggestions please?

My son is about to turn 9 months this coming week, and I've had such a hard time getting him used to solids, my main question is, he only has his two front bottom teeth in. Is it safe to give him the soft sticks foods, like the ones you mentioned in the video? Or does he need to have more teeth come in beforehand? I'm always so worried about his choking on foods😭 Thank you for making these videos!!

As long as the food is soft their gums are strong to break it down for easy swallowing

The more he chews / gnaws on soft foods, spoons, and appropriate toys / teethers the quicker his teeth will erupt. the actual biting/chewing motion is needed to 1) get teeth going, 2) strengthen his jaw. He has a 'built-in' bite reflex (there at birth), so if you / he place items on his molar ridge he will bit down. If you think his reflex is lessened, just push down ever-so-slightly. This is an oral-motor "workout" and all babies really, really need to be mouthing/biting/chewing to increase strength, stability and range-of-motion. Also, the more they chew and move their tongue around (on purpose and reflexibly) the more they "workout" their thick cheek pads (which are / were needed to suckle and extract milk from a nipple). This transition into solids help build those muscles and lean them out - ready for more solids and speech :) Hope this helps.

Emma...not not very tech savvy so I'm asking you a question here having nothing to do with this video! My granddaughter I'm raising has started reaching out and grabbing...seemly in frustration or being tired...rather strongly and ruffle! Pulls my hair and scratches my nose? Is this normal?

I was literally Googling this today! Thanks for the informative video as usual. With mouthing objects - my 7 month old jabbed herself hard in the mouth with the spoon the other day so I took it away from her again. Must I just try navigate that better?? I hate seeing her get hurt 😢 And want to do some self feeding but also worried about choking hazards... Any extra feedback is appreciated 🙏
@EmmaHubbard Жыл бұрын
Hi Janel, glad you liked the video! I understand how scary it can be when they first start using a spoon and putting it too far back. Unfortunately at this age it is all about practice. She is not going to choke on the spoon itself - it will just trigger the gag reflex and with time she will get better control over the spoon and stop putting it in too far. I hope that helps!

Hello, Thank you for these lovely videos. I have one question with reference to my baby (14 months). He loves to throw his food off the high chair especially if he knows the dogs are around. How can change this habit. He is not a picky eater yet but it is becoming difficult to train him to self eat when he keeps throwing the food on the floor.

What to do with a baby that wants to constantly stand up in the high chair if there is the foot support that you mentioned? I mean he is bobbing up and down nonstop.

Great video!! Love the series. Going on 2 weeks and my 7 month old only wants teething crackers! How can I help him readily take food? He watches us eat all the time, yet always moves away from "food" on a spoon. He only wants to play with the cut pieces we provide
@EmmaHubbard Жыл бұрын
Hi! Letting your little one play with the food which you are putting on the spoon (so smearing a small amount on the table) can help. Also you could try using 2 spoons. You load up the spoon and then hand it to your son to place in his own mouth. Then while he does this you load up the next spoon. Hope that helps!
