Try your hardest, you might feel overwhelmed after your 2nd week (material starts piling up), just stick to the slides and try get multiple passes of the slides, the more you see it the better. if you feel overwhelmed just know that you and your brain quickly starts adapting to studying longer and harder. it will come just be patient with it. Dr. Darmal, I am trying to follow your advice of sticking to the slides. However, whenever I go to the slides there are usually kids on them. Additionally, the parents at the park give me strange looks. Are you sure the slides are the only option? What about monkey bars, any chance I could use those? Please advise.

hmmm... Mr. Nadasy it is great that you followed through with your petition and are now allowed within 50 feet of parks and public schools again. Slides can be tough, especially with parents around. i suggest doing muscle ups on the monkey bars in order to display your dominance.

Loved the video! My question is..which medical program are you in at SGU... I'm interested in applying and I see some different options in terms of the length of the program, 7 years,6 years and 5 years

Hey May so sorry for the delay in response, school has been crazy these past few weeks. I am currently in my second year of the 4 year MD program. The other varying length options are for getting an additional masters (ie. public policy or business) after your MD program is finished. The longer length options like 6 and 7 years are for students who need to obtain their bachelors degree first. These are generally younger students, it is basically a shortened college and MD program all in one. I cannot speak on any of these programs because I am not in them but I would be happy to answer any questions or concerns you have about the regular 4 year MD program. Do you find the material in medical school easier or harder than that of undergrad.? More or less conceptual?

Hey! So the best way to put it is that. The difficulty level of the concepts that you learn is not extremely hard. In fact it can even be easier /little more straight forward than undergrad but the hard part is the vast amount of information you get and the speed you have to understand it at. So that is why it is important to be able to stay on top of your work and try not to fall behind. You will fall behind, everyone does but you just have to have good structure and discipline with your studying so that you don't fall behind too much. But the material is not extremely complex.

Great video as always bro! You mentioned (and other sgu students) that the great majority of questions for exams are derived from lecture slides. With that being said, is it mandated by the university to purchase textbooks in term 1? Cuz it seems like it's already a lot of information that's being thrown at you and doing readings on top of that would be crazy.

Hi, loved the video! Do you use the pomodoro technique while studying or do you just study in one long stretch. I guess I am trying to ask how often do you take breaks while studying?

Hey this is an awesome question. yeah i actually use the pomodoro technique. I usually use it when i feel a little burnt out and cannot sit down and study for the life of me. and so i try to break it into little 25 chunks of focus. i heard somewhere that the goal of pomodoro is to help get you to that point where you forget about the clock and you can keep studying nonstop. basically it helps get you into that zen work flow for the day. but thats besides the point. to answer your other question. its a little hard to say exactly how often the breaks are. i think when you get here the most natural way people fall into taking breaks is when they finish a little goal. like for example, i naturally end up taking a break after i finish a lecture. or finish a set of practice questions. so that could be anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. or breaks can be whenever you feel like you dont understand anything youre reading and the words are running together. youll get a better idea of it when it starts. hope this helps

hi sorry for the delay. you absolutely do not have enough time to make your own notes. you have to do so many slides in one day that it becomes impossible. some people whiteboard and get really good at being able to condense like 2 lectures on one of those library sized white boards (the ones on wheels). but that wasnt my strong suit. some people like making flash cards (ANKI), some people just straight highlight (me), so you find what way works best for you. and the slides are decently organized, but it takes a second to get used to. because its so much information it can be overwhelming, but you build up to it
