dont understand why they are insentivize to shove when raising 7bb and not call

Because they can't win UTG's bounty without reraising (and putting their own stack at risk in the process)

In tip number 2 you compared covered versus uncovered cenarios. In UTG1 example: UTG1 range (17%) at 37% left, versus UTG1 range (25,7%) at 70% left. I think this comparison is not fair as it is comparing different stages of the tournament. If you want to assess the impact of covering or being covered, you should do this at the same stage of the tournament.

If you look at a spot in a vacuum like this, aren't you missing some important factors? Having a big stack seems hugely adventageous since you can't be played against very wide pre and post (and of course being able to win bounties). Shorter stacks have to consider both ICM and lower fold equity. I feel like this future EV should change things a bit, but not sure how much 😂 It's quite a complex game and I'm still trying to figure it out after not playing poker for a few years. Played a few of them yesterday and they are quite fun. Requires a lot more thinking than the classic MTT. How do people play 9+ tables with these things in the mix?

Don't get behind the concept that I should have different calling ranges vs 8BB allin and 7BB raise from a 8BB stack. I don't have to get him pre allin, I still can bet 1BB on flop, turn or river, so why should I change my range?

So you're telling me that the CO has a call/fold (to further action) range off 13 bbs vs 8bb shove? And if that's not the case, then the 7bb open strategy makes no sense.

The latest Sunday Million winner won about $85,000 plus about $25K in bounties. I don't get how this was possible. Surely if he knocks out people who had several KOs themselves they would keep their bounties. I'm probably confused though.

The graph of "bounty power by tournament stage" is very wrong, not appropriate. It has no utility. It should not be "1$ bounty to big blind conversion rate", but "average bounty in $ to big blind conversion rate". As ICM pressure gets bigger bounties get bigger too.

We discuss this in the article linked in the description.

The graph is a bit misleading as later in Tournaments Bounty Power is much bigger factor, as stack sizes are lower and bounties are higher so BP might be 7 BB with 30 BB stacks while at beginning 2BB on 100BB stacks, which changes almost nothing

So bounties get bigger as the tournament progresses?

@@Pyrrhic537 its a progressive bounty. When you ko someone you get half the bounty right away and the other half is added to your bounty

@atomicsoda2 That explains how the latest Sunday Million winners got about $85K plus about $26K in bounties .
