Yes, I definitely used the Beanie hat. Problem was though, I started growing in November 2020 so my awkward phase hit in about summer! It does get a whole lot easier once you can grab a bit of hair through a band to make a small ponytail. I could do that by October and it is a lifesaver when you feel your hair is too messy, in the morning for example, or you can't be bothered styling it. Stick with it guys, it is worth it!
@RyanKaufman2 жыл бұрын
My hair is halfway between thin and thick, and it tended to start frizzing up on me harder than I've ever had it when I was in my awkward phase last year in the Summer. I used blumann's cloud oil, enough to tame it but not overly using it, to properly get that thick hair look and lay that I really needed. I think your tips are great, just throwing that in for those of us who look ridiculous when not wearing a hat in the awkward phase. As of now, I'm two years in and doing more of a Geralt half up ponytail. Never happier with my hair!

Ignore my bald avatar. I started growing my hair out from very short starting in November of '18. Its shoulder length now. The awkward phase is totally worth it later. Beanies and headbands can be your best friends during this time period. I recommend investing in a good quality sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. Maybe a wooden comb as well. The time to start growing probably varies by region. I live in NW Pennsylvania and beanie season runs from beginning of October to End of May generally. 8 months. That strategy wouldn't work down south in Miami where I used to live. I also grew a long beard after my last short haircut, like 10" just because I wanted to see what it looked like and what I had to work with. Long goatee turns out, not really thick enough to braid. Turns out a short well kept beard looks better on me. It was a fun experiment.

I had my hair at about 5 inches before I cut it. But I would say the main reason why I gave up was because I didn't know what style I wanted or where to go with it, I just knew I wanted to grow it out. I'm currently back at 4 inches on top and starting my journey once again while I still have covid and the winter time to use this great advice! Thank you for the tips and encouraging me to try again.

I want to grow my hair out and make a bun, I haven't cut my hair for 6 months and it's harder than I thought, my parents say that I don't look neat and that guys should only wear short haircuts, I don't know if I can do it

I started growing my hair at the very start of this year and I'm currently in the awkward stage, but luckily it lays nicely to one side to give a neat side bang. I'm looking forward to being a year into my growth. 😄

Instead of "nice beard" i get "when are you going to shave" I guess that's what happens when you have nice hair but cant grow a beard to save your life.

I’m just glad I can at least grow long hair on my head in my 40s even though I STILL can’t really grow full facial hair 😂

Hey man, I had my haircut in undercut last January, I was wondering if it's ok to leave the longer strands/part/area of hair? Or should I trim it?
@ilove2loveu4 жыл бұрын
didn't know about the split end trimming tip, will definitely try to get to the barber for that soon. honestly don't know why i watched this video, i'm in the awkward stage and people are actually complimenting my hair haha, saying they like the messy look, cause i'm just letting my hair do its thing, style it once when i get out of the shower and then just small checkups throughout the day, best wishes to anyone else growing their hair out this year :)

bro, how long should my hair be to start cutting split ends. especially if you don't notice them.
@TravWhiteStyle4 жыл бұрын
If you don’t notice them, don’t worry about it. If you’re not sure, go to the barber/stylist every 3 months to check for them and shape your growth

My hair is so straight that it forms a natural shaggy bowl cut.

Literally same. I can even slightly push it up from my forehead and it'll be a completely flat bowl

Hey man! I had longer hair and sheared it off for quarantine (for fun, not for donations sadly). And I somehow landed the perfect time for it to grow into winter!

Started growing my hair in February I guess, still not cut...as aweful as this may seem but am glad we're quarantined XD PS: my hair grows fast holy cow XD PS2: everyone seems to admire me growing my hair tho, didn't expect it XD

You must be following Trav’s hair growth pointers! 😀 my hair RANDOMLY wants to grow fast. I think finding a good match of shampoo and conditioner for yourself is important.

Okay I'm not a guy, but been definitely in the awkward stage so many times before and I ended up cutting my hair short again, so yes, just don't care about what people think and let your hair do whatever, don't get that frustrated
