I had the longest hair in high school, I remember dreaming of the day my hair would be long and luscious in middle school, finally after years of growing my hair looked like a long curly beautiful head of hair, definitely a topic of conversation for everyone in school at the time, but also I got a lot of hate. I would get hate mail on social media and guys trying to pick fights with me. I wore band shirts and was heavy into music. My hair was well maintained and had huge natural perfect curls that girls envied. Girls would play with my hair and I got a lot of attention and notoriety for it. I was also very insecure about it. Because more often then not main stream didn’t see it as a male thing to do. Adults made fun of me, jocks and popular kids hated me. I cut it off one day because I just wanted to fit in. I donated it all to locks of love. Not a day goes by where I wished I never did that because it was part of my identity for so long. I’ve tried growing it out many times again but my hair doesn’t grow as fast as it once did. I’m trying it again now and it looks bad lol I have a very steady career and it’s not easy going through the first phases of long hair at a professional setting, my hair is thick and curly so it looks like an Afro almost at first. Anyways moral of the story don’t care what others think, it looks awesome. I wore band shirts and had long hair and I was made fun of nowadays you can get an overpriced band shirt that kids never actually listen to at forever 21 and urban outfitters and every dude has a man bun wtf I don’t understand the world.

Dude love the story, thank you for sharing. I have some videos coming that may help you speed through the awkward phase so you can regain your authentic identity. Hopefully it will lessen the amount of time stuck in the “awkward phase”. Are you working from home right now? Maybe this is the time to pursue it while you’re not in an office setting. This is a true story: I grew up in Eastern Europe in the 90's and since then I always wanted long hair. Society was still rigid back then. Schools didn't allow it, most parents either. But eventually reached 31 years old, growing my hair (it covers my face entirely, I think I am 7 months). My wife was just complimenting it and I just realized how much I waited for this to happen. Unfortunately it started to gray and receid at the forehead . I am sure given the chance years ago to grow it, it would have looked great. But today there s not as much stigma around it, basically on one cares enough to give you a bad time. So grow your hair guys

I had long hair for a few years and I do miss it at times. However, the main reason I ended up cutting it is due to maintenance. My hair isn't straight like you guys, it's a lot curlier like Slash from Guns n Roses. It's definitely a lot of work to maintain long curly hair with all the conditioning and detangling that's required. I also felt that I couldn't get it to look exactly like I wanted, it always looked kind of unkempt despite my best efforts to maintain it. If I had straight hair or wavy hair I would definitely grow it out again. But I think I'll be rocking the shorter hairstyles from now on.

Trav! I've watched 3 of your videos. The way you can see that you love your character off the screen in a genuine and positive way; really brings a comforting environment around your content. I literally started putting my hair half up and half down 2 days ago. It's all a little strange to me. But I've always hated haircuts. Had my fringe long once; in that emo kind of phase. But this is the first time having the whole thing long. I even have a braid in the down half on my back left side. And a braid running from the front right side into the tail. And right at the beginning of that top braid, I have a little bit flicked out that is shorter. So where the flick starts going down my face, the braid starts going into my tail. Thought it would be cool. I'm glad I can find some guys confident in who they are to look how they want. Really benefitted from this. Thank you! From Australia, Far North QLD.

Long hair is glorious. Sure, I've had challenges to deal with that I didn't have with shorter hair (most notably, hair shedding all over the place and having to restyle my hair when I'm laying back on a chair due to the bun/tail pushing my neck forward), but it's totally worth it. For me, not having to go to the barber is a MAJOR plus. I save money, I save time, and I trudged through the middling phase (I have a round face). Also, I never engaged nor was I ever interested in barbershop banter, since I would go to barbershops run by Cuban guys I had nothing in common with (my family is Cuban so I can talk shit about Cubans.)
