I am one of those people who can listen to something & remember 95% of it. But when I got my first sales job I went out of my way to write down tons of notes despite the fact that I didn't necessarily need them to remember. It made a very good impression with my managers & they brought it up to me after I had worked there for a year & said they knew I was going to be a great employee because I took so many notes when I started. I had them fooled but I was still a great employee! I am not always a people pleaser but I think first impressions are very important, especially in sales. Sometimes we need to do things for other people, not just ourselves. That is what working as a team is all about.

Hey Cass! You make amazing content and I've always referred back to your videos. But today I seem to have found myself in the exact opposite situation. I was just laid off about an hour or so ago. It wasn't personal just the way things go some times. I was given my two-weeks notice because "restructuring issues." I shook hands with my manager, asked if I could get a nice letter of recommendation, and thanked him for the opportunity I've had so far. I kinda saw the writing on the wall since the new year. I've been casually looking - which I guess means I've got to start actively looking now - but it still doesn't take the sting out of it. I need some advice. What's your advice on making the most of your final two weeks? That might be a bummer of a video, I know, but hey. "When life closes a door..." or however the saying goes.

Great video! I move to another city and start work in about 3 weeks, so gotta be prepared. Surely will take a ton of notes! The other day we had a kind of orientation with other people who had also landed the job, but nobody was getting notes - so I felt it would be weird if I was the only one doing it. Now I kind of regret it - maybe everybody wanted to write stuff down, but everybody was shy or self-aware of what other people were doing, and I should have been the one to break that awkardness. Or maybe I am just nervous and overthinking everything 🤪

This is something a lot of people have asked lately. My thought is try to bring in something pre-packaged- Buy a set of cold brew cans at Costco or make use of all the Halloween candy out right now and put them in a cute bowl or basket and set them out. Something not too crazy to show your appreciation. But yes, totally get that the pandemic took away our donut sharing!
