My first video i saw maybe 3 weeks ago on his channel was that photoshop one with the man centered with the mountain views Lake Lousie i think, i don't know lol. In short: think before you shoot ;)
@PeterMcKinnon7 жыл бұрын
Pretty much sums it up yeah LOL
@pdebie19827 жыл бұрын
It's the first thing I teach my students. Don't point and shoot, but look at the subject and think about what you like about it. Why did the subject caught your attention. If you cannot specify it. It probably won't get the attention of the people who look at your photo also. So step back a moment and think about how you want to emphasize that thing that made you stop for a second. By just thinking about it for a couple of seconds, you're getting a better picture allready. :)
@PeterMcKinnon7 жыл бұрын
pdebie1982 It's why I think everyone should shoot film at least once in their life!
@pdebie19827 жыл бұрын
at least! Totally agree with you. Shooting film makes you think twice about clicking the shutter button. I've got an old 6x6 film camera with no automatic controls, lightmetering or whatever. The first time pressing the shutter was scary. Did I waste a piece of film? Or does it come out nicely. Luckily the first photo was only a bit underexposed, but the rest was pretty nice. I love shooting film. :)

My son is a dancer and I try to take a ton of great photos at his recitals to share with the other parents. Well this past weekend I upped my game. I rented a Canon L series 70-200mm IS II lens and finally got decent shots by adjusting my in-camera settings properly. Some of that I’m sure was thanks to your videos. What I did really different is stand in the wing of stage right and take photos from the side and back of the performers. It was the third show of the weekend and I already took thousands of pictures from the back of the audience. I’m quite pleased with how they turned out and they were the first set of photos I shared online. By thinking opposite, as you put it, I gave my dance family something unique and that they really appreciate.

Excellent tips, Peter! If I may suggest one more...Take your Time before pressing the shutter release!
