Lucy, you're my fav fitness/lifestyle/youtuber because I think you display an incredible amount of genuine sensitivity and empathy. You never talk down to your viewers, blame or attack. You speak realistically and transparently and I don't come away from your videos feeling bad about myself like I do from some others. I feel like I always learn something!

I tried losing weight many times only to gain it back again because of bad habits. 2 months ago I had some health scares so I changed my diet and it was all about eating healthy. I automatically started losing weight as an additional benefit. Earlier it was all about covering some insecurity or looking a certain way but now I just focused on being healthy and I felt like moving around and exercising naturally instead of forcing myself to

Thank you for say this. Literally your video came at the perfect time for me- I needed to hear this! I regained 20-25lbs this past year and feeling sad. I struggle with maintaining my weight and I’m finding it hard to lose the weight again. I’m consistent with my workouts but sabotaging my efforts by overeating or binge eating.

The „seeing you as an experiment“ really resonated with me because that‘s what I do now. It‘s actually so much fun to see how and why and when my body changes when I change my diet or workouts. It‘s just amazing, I love it, and it‘s become the main driver of why I do things in general :D

This was so well put and helpful. Whenever I experience doubt or a mental plateau, I will try and re-watch this particular video for these reminders; to be patient and kind to myself. Thank you Lucy!

One thing I never head people talk about, is the hormonal changes that can lead to difficulties. I was shocked that I was unable to lose weight after my pregnancy, and was struggling and felt like a failure. It took me a year to figure out that I was actually insulin resistant. It's been 2.5 years and I am still so far from my goal weight but getting there slowly ( I also moved in the meantime and changed jobs). Its hard but I am optimistic, and your videos always make me believe that it's possible :)

Great video Lucy, for me was biggest game changer as you said in video learning about calories, macros, etc.. That allowed me to adjust everything accordingly of what i wanted to achieve. Like now im two weeks beffore my 12 week cut ends, and i got from 82kg to 77kg, my goal for this year is to get to 15% bodyfat (btw it is my long term goal i set to myself like two years back if i get it this year dont know :D ).

You always say the right things! Been watching you since I started my weight loss journey in January. Lost 18kg since then and still learn from you all the time.

Really helpful, thanks. Weight lose happens in kitchen and exercises only support it. I wish I knew all about fluctuations and safety amount of weight to loose before I started to diet for the first time in my live. That was in my early teens. I now have recovered from ED and need to carefully and without rush loose some weight to healthy measure. And not started to obsess around it ever again, just keep calm.

Thanks so much Lucy, hearing you say all of this makes me happy and I feel less alone. I would like to know about depression and weight loss. Right know I'm not in a good place mentally ans I've notice that exercise is becoming really hard and even less exciting. I'd love to hear what did you do in that moment❤❤❤ thanks again for all your work

I am so glad you mention the esthetic motivation for weight loss 😍 I go to the gym throughout the year (before summer more frequently 🤪) and in May, June the gym is super crowded while in October, November almost empty. If it was for health reasons, ppl would be going all yr around 🙃 I go there a priori to look good, might be shallow, ok I take it but I really don't think about my bone density or cardiovascular health during the workouts 😂

This is such a great video. I recently lost 127 lbs, almost half my bodyweight, and I'm trying to figure out maintenance but it terrifies me. There's apparently a theory (I don't think it's been proven) that people who have lost a large amount of weight actually maintain on fewer calories than a person of the same age, sex, height, weight, and activity level. That can help explain why regain is so common, if we rely on formulas to figure out what our maintenance calories are, for example. My take away from that is, don't use a formula you found online for what your TDEE or maintenance calories are, and don't rely on a fitness tracker either. I weigh myself daily and I track my calories and that should theoretically allow me to discover my personal maintenance formula. So far it seems like I maintain my weight, while exercising quite intensely, on the same calories as a "normal" person who doesn't exercise at all. Another way of phrasing it is, someone just like me who exercises the same could eat about 200-300 calories/day more without gaining than I can. But it's all a constant experiment. I'm trying to learn to let go of the anxiety about regaining now.

@@kims1941 thank you! I'm continuing to lose a little bit (slowly) and have made some minor tweaks to my diet, specifically not eating breakfast until I actually feel hungry, and having eggs or some other mainly protein food for breakfast, and I've found that's helped me feel more full throughout the day and less anxious about regaining. I'm down to officially half my bodyweight now! Thank you for your comment!! I hope you're doing well too!

Thnk you soooo much....You are so encouraging and I love the balanced way you explain everything. For me, I put 20 kg after the 2 pregnancies and developed hypotheroidism. I have been trying different things and nothing worked....So I entered this process after finding you on the internet....I started for a month just exercising like 15min everyday, and now, for a week I have been doing Intermitent fastingm but i feel sooo good... I weigh myself from time to time and its slowly moving down but I am so more focused on how i feel, etc...(I didnt have a problem with weight before the babies)and we eat quite healthy as a family. But basically thank you for taking the pressure of, and I am enjoying the journey of discovering what works for me and looking at many more things than just the scale. Love your videos. Thank you!

I lost about 10-15lbs last year and maintained that for a while, but I recently noticed that it’s gone back up to where I started. I went on a 2 week long vacation last month and have still been eating/living in vacation mode since I’ve been back. I haven’t really got back into my routine and better habits again yet. I also have hypothyroidism which makes things kinda hard sometimes but I think I just need to kick it into gear for a while! Your videos always come at the perfect time, thanks!!

Such a great video! Thanks for that, exactly the information I needed. I had lost one entire size with healthy nutrition and a positive mindset towards food and kept it for about two years. Then I bought a car and also Covid hit, two reasons why I was moving much less and in parallel I started eating a bit more. And I gained back the size. Something changed and I just couldn't be so disciplined with food any more, I needed to enjoy foods more. I was really unhappy and disappointed of myself until recently until I understood that what was working for me at that time simply will not work for me now. I need a new approach and accept that my body is always evolving. So thanks for this perspective. Now I am trying to eat moderately and s l o w l y but with no specific restrictions (more of listening to my hunger and what my body r e a l l y needs) while planning daily movement during each day. Let's see how this goes! 😊
