Hi! I finally went back in a couple of hours ago andddddddd....... I ACED MY CRITICALL! I made a 100% overall & my main Data Entry Exam Score Was 5184KPH. The cut off score was 4742KPH. I EXCEEDED EVERY SECTION. SO, To anyone that has taken it before, please DO NOT get discouraged!! Keep practicing your speed, pushing, & DO NOT GIVE UP!! It does not matter how many times it takes you to get a thing right. All that matters is that you get it right!! Thanks Laura! All of your videos were on point! My test only had 13 sections and the spelling and math wasn’t a part of it so I guess you can say I dodged that bullet! Now I’m just going to wait on my call back for my panel interview/polygraph.

JulianaYaneth Sure! The test is based on your ability to multi-task & be quick. It also measures your ability to prioritize. There was a practice test that I used as a practicing tool. I did this same test everyday until I felt comfortable. If you google ‘Criticall practice test’,the link you want to click will say ‘Job Test Prep’. It has a practice map quiz, data entry, audio data entry, & prioritizing quiz. Also, do as many typing practice quizzes as you can. Make sure to get rest the day before, pray or meditate (whichever fits your preference) to remain relaxed. I actually practiced my typing about 3-4 hours BEFORE my exam as well, I ate two hours before and relaxed that last hour. Watch ALL of Laura Bryant’s 911 Dispatcher Videos because they really gave me insight on what to expect and what to look forward to. LASTLY; BE CONFIDENT IN YOURSELF AND YOUR ABILITIES! Your Confidence WILL Overcome Your Nerves!!

Alexis Stewart UPDATE: Another job posted for a 911 call taker job in a different city so I applied for it. I went in yesterday morning and took the exam. Talk about nervous! 80% is what is needed to pass and guess what, I passed with an 84%! When the lady started to read my scores, she started off saying “Well unfortunately “...and my mouth dropped open because I thought I failed and then she said “I’m just playing, you passed “ lol! She said she had been doing that to people all week and I gave her a big hug afterwards. My test is September 11th this what they sent in my email. The first component of your test will be a standard typing test. You need to type at least 30 net words per minute (WPM) to advance on to the second component. The next component will evaluate your ability to make decisions, enter audio data, summarize 911 calls, engage in cross referencing, prioritize information, comprehend reading passages, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

But now I have the opportunity to apply for a County position. I was extremely extremely nervous when I took it the first time because I want to be in this job! I know I fudged up with VIN and crazy enough, the maps! I thought that would be easy but I was all kinds of confused! Not to mention I was halfway through my test when the instructor tapped me on the shoulder and said I had to restart because the person who went before me failed and she didn’t back completely out of the test. Plus I was the only one taking the test. Ugh. I want this job so bad!!

That probably won’t always work because they have a written text on the left side and you’re writing on the right side and need to read the text while typing. You’d be fine during the listening portions but might run into some issues with hitting tab and filling out the appropriate boxes with the appropriate information.

My test was yesterday. I passed every module except data entry 😩 I passed data entry audio though, that was easier than reading. I didn’t know those 911 emergencies would come through as I’m trying to listen, recall and type a VIN # or DL #. And you only have 15 seconds to respond. Meanwhile that VIN # or address or Drivers Plate is being blurted out as I’m trying to read and respond the appropriate emergency dept. That was so difficult to me. I needed to pass every section to pass. I get to try again Oct 1st but I’m more nervous now than before.

I failed my test this week. I have lots of excuses or reasons why. I failed the first 2-3 sections of data entry and typing because I was so caught off hard with the sudden pace. I understand that this is a part of the job but if it was the job they would have showed me how to do each step of my job prior to the actual call. After the initial shock I was able to get my focus on and I feel like I did pretty decent. Anyways, I found your video helpful. I wrote the management back and asked them for feedback. They expressed that it was the typing and data entry at the beginning and encouraged me to check back in a couple months when they are allowed to re-test me. Do you have any experience with folks who needed a couple tests to pass? Things I would do differently; ensure NO ONE can bother me I had 3 interruptions, I was using a keyboard that I am familiar with, and lastly, I’d prepare mentally.

I got a 90 on the data entry and all those questions but on the typing i got a 31 wpm when they want 35. I got flustered because they asked for so much punctuation. I had to type things like Janice McCullough asked her neighbor whom lives at 23187 Fredericksburg Ave. Gainesville, FL, U.S.A., if he had a young German Shepherd that escaped from his yard at approximately 9:00 P.M. on the 12th of August, 2019. They want you to copy down the address and information with the correct capitalization and the punctuation. You cant use caps lock for things like the U.S.A., and you have to get every bit of punctuation or it sets your accuracy way off. Even one character and now everything after that is being typed incorrectly.

Laura Bryant I think it went well! I find out next week my exact score and they’re going to continue on with interviews. The process they said is rushed as they want to start a new class in a month. One question, when you did the audio data entry, did you type along with the audio spelling or did you just type the name and wait for them to finish spelling it? My typing wpm is good for the requirements on the typing module, but I don’t know if waiting for them to spell “Jessica” or whatever name is going to affect my typing and make it seem like I naturally type slower. I’ll keep you updated though! (:

I have taken the practice test twice and I always seem to get flustered over the VIN number it’s almost 15 characters long mixed in with numbers and letters 😢

Hey GM The listening and typing was easy for me. It was having to type exactly off of the letter to the left … it sucked! I got 30 wpm they need 44

Hi ma’am! I got an email today saying i was invited to take a written examination for a job as a public safety communicator trainee and it would be followed by a “realistic job preview.” Is this another name for a 911 dispatcher and if yes what does the rest of what they said translate to? Thank you so very much!

They test you on the 10-key? I thought it was just basic typing test which I got a certificate for 64 wpm. I haven't done 10-key in forever
