Long time youtube member, first comment ever on a video. This is the best channel ever. I have to say that the pulling exercise was really helpful, felt like I was massaging my quads and hamstrings, specially in the later miles. I was able to shave time off my pace just by doing that alone. I started running last September without really knowing anything, your videos have given very valuable information, please keep the videos coming. I am 43 years old and never thought I would ever run 13.2 miles in less than 2 hours. THANK YOU!

It takes some serious dedication when you're doing most of your runs solo- way to go! Any chance there are local running groups near you? A running store or local facebook group might provide some great new running partners :)

To summarise, on a weekly basis work on: 1) Form - do drills weekly during long/steady-pace runs, especially Pulling Drills, and also set aside 10minutes for Hill Sprints at least once per week. 2) Strength - work on full body strength with good posture and especially incorporate Walking Lunges and also Jumping Lunges at 5x1minute sets of each (twice weekly). 3) Injury Prevention - foam roll after every run, try to stretch key areas before you sleep, and definitely stretch full body on rest days between runs.

I agree, this really is the best channel on youtube for beginner and intermediate runners. There is so much information provided in a very digestible fashion. The video on mechanics drastically improved my cadence from 140's to 180's +

? Are static stretches good for all? My last job working at a grain store facility had a 160' tower with stairs andl ladders. And was running 50- 70 miles a week Really miss the stairs and ladders seem to help my hips Hurt my knee last year now I'm lucky to get 20 miles a week in Stretching is hard static stretches are very hard for me rolling and active streach work best injured my back as a child and have only been was able to touch when I was 19--35 whiegh lifting with active starches seems to be the only way to increase my flexibility.

Hi! First I want to thank you for the video, very helpful. I am fairly new to running (about a year in) and want to do my first half marathon. You stated in video that hill running is advised as part of training. I live in an area where there aren’t any hills. What can I do to instead? I really want to do this right and be ready for when the marathon comes. Please advise.
@TheRunExperience5 жыл бұрын
Do you have access to a treadmill? Perfect for knowing the exactly how steep of a hill you're running! If not, how about a freeway overpass that has a sidewalk or a dedicated pedestrian overpass?

Hello Run Experience... It has just been wonderful to be watching all these informative videos in your channel. I have just started off with a challenge to complete 480 kms of running this June. I have not done anything even close to these numbers. My max mileage in a calender month till date is 250 km of Run / Walk. Also I am not a very seasoned runner, by best half marathon timing is 2 hrs 36 mins (I completed it nonetheless). How would you suggest to complete this 480km challenge in 30 days. I Run only in the mornings, I thought I would do 20 km for 24 days with 1 day per week off. I would like to know of this strategy is right or would you advise something else.

While I am foam rolling my calves, I feel pain. so, I try and work out the area I feel the pain and eventually (after a minute or more) the pain goes away. Am I doing this right?
@TheRunExperience8 жыл бұрын
Indeed! And the more you can make a habit of it, the less pain there will be in the first place! Try and hit the foam roll AFTER your run on run days.

Hey guys! I have a question I was hoping you could help me out with. I’m training for my first half. It is May 5. I have been running for 9 years but this is the longest race I’ve ever done. The 12 week training plan I’m on has an 11 mile run scheduled for today and a 12 mile run next Saturday. However I have been having some bad shin splints. Is it better to push through my last two long runs to build up mileage or rest to try and alleviate some pain? I don’t want to lose any of the endurance I’ve been building

Nate, do you think a PB attempt at a 10K race would have an adverse effect on a running a good HM (another PB?) one week later?
@Glauberoliveira14095 жыл бұрын
Definitely it is good idea to run a 10 k Race ( PB ) 15-30 days before your HM, since you don't leave your training plan for the HM ( specially the long runs ).
@xanderbastiaansen55795 жыл бұрын
@@Glauberoliveira1409 thanks, indeed 15 to 30days is better than just 1 week. I did PR at the 10k but got injured 4 days later, skipped the HM. Ran another HM just 15s above PB in adverse weather about 3weeks after the 10K, which to me felt as good as a PB.

Hi! I did a half Marathon on Sunday. I had a good cooling down session and felt good through out the day and on Monday. Due to some job commitment, I missed the recovery run/walk. From Tuesday I’m having quite a bit of pain in left knee, Patella to be precise. It is improving, but I want to have a recovery plan. Can you help pl? Thanks
@TheRunExperience7 жыл бұрын
Could just be a little residual impact. I wouldn't worry until a week from now. Keep rolling out, mobilizing and maybe throwing in a 1-2 mile shakeout run if you can :)

Hi. I am running my first half marathon on1.July. I would like to ask you, I usually training 5-6 times a week. How many days off should I have before Sunday next week.? Thank you
@TheRunExperience6 жыл бұрын
I'd include at least 1 (maybe 2) rest days next week. Keep your general training schedule the same but take the volume of that training down to a tapering level. Some good videos on that here on the channel!
@dtrjones3 жыл бұрын
Good video but I don't like the jumping lunges, they are too impactful on the knee. Wouldn't it be much better if you stay in the same spot and go up and down slowly, adding weights to challange you once you get proffient. That's something you could do in one place with the rest of the strength activities and doesn't add any more unecessary strain on the knee. Just my 2 cent.
