The problem with most young supervisors is they haven't gained wisdom yet, a lot of young people are controlled by their feelings and emotions and are still very concerned with being perceived as cool or accepted. You start to lose that in your 30's but occasionally there is young people who mature quicker than others.

I have seen older people go on power trips at work and young people treat team members of all ages brilliantly. A lot of the difference is down to how confident and secure you are in yourself. If you are confident in yourself, you don't need to take actions that put other people down to make yourself feel better. In my view, age does help with feeling self-confidence and knowing your self-worth and therefore treating others better - it is not a guarantee.
