Oh my gosh...Dachshunds loving Dachshunds! This is so true! 😆 My girl (Fig) is mostly not keen on other dogs, even dogs her own size. But ever since puppyhood, she’s always been fine with other Dachshunds. I’ve seen her open her mouth and start to bark, and then stop mid-bark once she realises it’s another Dachshund and one of her ‘peeps.’ We also took her to a Dachshund meetup at a dog beach here in Sydney, and I watched these two Dachshund boys patrol the beach, so that one half was reserved for Dachshunds only. It was the funniest thing.

Mine doesn't stand at holes in the ground, he tunnels into them and I think that is a trait of dachshunds. This is why they also love to burrow under the blankets and in the winter, don't worry about heating up the bedroom.

I Ve just so your femal Dachshund vs male, your video are very valuable as I understand Dachshund are not for everybody, and to many people taking pets and are not ready and the animal finishe to be abandoned or not understand and they quality life taken from that. That’s is why it is good th have so one like you with experience and people been able to understand if they can cope

I don't know about dachshunds in the UK but my two smooth coats, one dark sable and the other a brindle are hunters first and foremost. My first Dachshund was a standard breed red smooth coat and she had never seen and groundhog, aka woodchuck until she was 8 or 9. They don't stand at the burrow and bark, they go into the burrow or if they see their quarry they chase it. Into the borrow and go right in after it and they will chase it back out in minutes, absolutely amazing. Little hunting machines. People underestimate them.

My 9 month old doxie does not bark. At all. I feel like it’s because we have a brown lab that is extremely well behaved and he had a huge influence on the Dachshund., (Reese) I will be getting Reese’s sister, from the same parents (6 weeks old) tonight! I’m super excited. Reese is nine months he is 99.44% potty trained he sleeps in his own bed in our bedroom he will stay on the front or back porch and not venture away during the day but we live very rural. Next week on Tuesday Reese will get neutered. Is that too soon? I’ve seen videos where people say that you have to wait until they’re 18 months old to neuter or spay them because if you don’t they will have spinal problems is this true does it matter the age that you spay or neuter? I just want to do the correct thing for this breed.

Hey Ginny! It’s probably more likely your dachshund either hasn’t found his bark yet (as he’s still very young) or because his lines genetically aren’t as barky. I know thousands of dachshunds that live with calm larger breeds and it makes no difference 🤣🤣 in terms of neutering. Definitely wait as long as you safely can. As they’re not fully mature structurally until 18-24 months old so you will increase the risks of IVDD if you neuter too young x

Guess my Doxie is not “normal”. He open feeds, doesn’t bark much, and never goes potty in the house. He DOES worship me and thinks I am his wife and he digs holes like a crazy boy. Love my Doxie.
