There was never a confirmed report that the tasmanian tiger actually targeted any livestock not even chickens, so they hunted the Tasmanian tiger to extinction over basically nothing.

@MajorGalah they could but they were so reclusive and scared of humans they wouldn't go anywhere near any humans including their chicken coops.
@ANTSEMUT12 жыл бұрын
@MajorGalah what's your source for saying they weren't scared? The only source that says that are the ones observed in captivity and that's not an accurate reflection of their behaviour.
@inaaronshead73312 жыл бұрын
Yes very correct and it was pretty much confirmed feral dogs and cats were actually to blame for livestock killings. And yes just like Snow Leopards, they were very shy introverts. And actually had to be hunted down usually far from human encroachment.. Like the one recorded account of a British hunter/blood pit enthusiast, whom had to take his bull terrier up in the rocky cliffs and when then Bull Terrier had the thylacine cornered the Thylacine partially crushed it's skull on one side and left brains petruding from the bite. That hunter/blood pit enthusiast said the damage that it's jaw can do is inconsistent with the damage to the remains of dead live stock. And after their extinction the feral dog population has to be culled in high numbers as they were the ones attacking live stock (as well as cats). It's pretty much 100% they didn't have any responsibility for the live stock deaths.
@inaaronshead73312 жыл бұрын
@MajorGalah you are very wrong mate, animals that have abundant contact with humans are more likely to get closer. That's why feeding wild animals is very dangerous, they lose natural fear of the unknown and get closer to humans and that's when they are most dangerous for people and pet's... Wild Animals are heavily cautious of the unknown. Besides they evolved alongside Indigenous Australian populations whom were around during the megafauna.. so it's not like they had no history with humans before white people invaded and took the land and started their kill sprees.. Infact in Tasmania, the Thylacines refuge, White people marched shoulder to shoulder across the entire Tasmanian island and killed many Aborigines during "the black war"... Trust me, the Thylacine was very wary of humans and infact retreated further away for human populations

They went extinct largely because they flew in massive flocks which would protect them from natural predators. But human could and did shoot them with shot guns and by using nets were able take out dozens if not hundreds at a time. I don’t know the status of manatees. But I live in Florida with a house on a river with a decent population of them. They are incredible especially when observed from kayak like I do, as they are scared of motorboats which is very warranted, every manatee except some of the babies I see have motor scars on their back. They seem normal to me but it’s always very cool to remember I’m 5 minutes away from hanging with aquatic cows when i’m at home. I hope they don’t end up like the sea cow.
