I had no idea that red wolves were as close to the brink as they are. I remember my local zoo used to have a pair of them when I was younger, but now they have a coyote in that enclosure.

Im from nc. Red wolf population took serious hit over the past 10 years. The last article i read on them they were down to 16 or so in the wild left and that was a few months ago. Good news is there are dozens if not 100s in captive breeding programs throughout the country and they are supposed to reintroduce a few breeding pairs to the wild later this year
@henryturnerjr3857

They've been trying to bring them back as far back as I can remember. Coyotes used to be rare or non exist in NC. Now they are overpopulated so hunting is encouraged. However a couple of years ago someone mistakenly shot a red wolf. It was fairly big news and they were considering stopping all coyote hunting in the area.

I know this is so crazy but hopefully with strict no hunting rules and dedicated conservation they could bounce back, take the American Alligator for example they were critically endangered but now they are ranked at least concern and have a population of FIVE MILLION that is still growing hope all ifnot atheist a few of these guys bounce back. 💔

Doubt it, NC is really bad at conserving it’s wildlife. Also NC being a Red state it means that endangered animals get less funding and hillbillies ignore the poaching laws. Give Red wolves 10 more years and they’ll be extinct at least within the wild, at least until they can increasing their population in captivity but they’ll most likely get shot or ran over again.

Sadly, I would say it's already too late for the vaquita. With only 10 individuals left, the gene pool is so small that even if all fishermen stopped using the gillnets today and none of them died to a single human going forward, they'd still die out. Mammals are the most vulnerable to inbreeding and so once a population of a species goes below a certain level extinction is basically inevitable. It might take a few generations, but it can't be escaped.

What makes it sad is that wild animals shape the Earth which enables us humans and other species to thrive. Even if we lose one species it will still be a tragedy since it plays a very important role in the environment. Some species we can learn more about Earth's history and losing them would be like losing a family photo not being able to know about family history. I hope that other people begin to open their eyes and get responsible enough to care and conserve species at the brink of extinction and are threatened.

Very interesting. Sadly, I only learn about some animals when they make the endangered species list. Even living in America, this was the first time I had even heard of vaquitas. Poachers should be permanently lose their rights to fishing and hunting. If they are found with fishing or hunting gear, it should be a mandatory large fine and prison time. One good thing Florida does, is make beaches go blackout during turtles egg hatching season. Lights have been known to confuse hatchlings, and they would head inland rather than head towards the ocean. Nor with the darkness, they head towards the water. Florida actually has some really strict conservation laws, which even helped the pythons thrive. Although those particular laws have since changed, and now anyone can kill them humanely on sight. There are some other invasive species with similar laws, so they are not left in, or returned to the wild.

Good news from the USA, good news about the hawksbill: they are returning!! To explain, Tsuki, they used to be eaten here over a hundred years ago, but that has stopped. (Attempt to take one from the beach, and you will likely have an angry horde of beachgoers chasing after you "PUT.HER. DOWN. NOWWWWWW!!") Their range on the East Coast extends from Connecticut in the north to the USVI and Puerto Rico in the South (such would also include Florida and the keys.) They used to nest as far north as North Carolina on the Outer Banks; in 2015 the first two nests in forever appeared at Cape Hatteras. Keep in mind it takes 20-30 years for a female to mature and return to the beach she was born on. It is woooorking!!! Hooray! Hooray!!

I was born in Oregon in '89 and even in my lifetime, I have seen the climate here in the Northwest part of Oregon adjust and alter in very noticeable ways. So much so that all locals agree. It used to rain 🌧️ so so frequently here in our temperate rainforests. So it's not only drier but the overall temperature is just totally different. People joke that it's like California stretched up further north now because we used to only have like maybe 2 days a year min. That reach 100° -Now we see common place temps in the 90s, 100s and with lower water levels, forest saturation. I just realized how much I actually love rainy days, foggy days, it's great time to go exploring in the woods where when it's nearly 100 degrees I don't get motivated to do anything at all. Everything is uncomfortable, I can't think clearly or sharp. I over heat easily I guess. I do my most active work in the mild and colder weather were hot weather demotivates me. I think I'm backwards compared to most people.

It has to do with old chinese culture and beliefs that are still held strongly in china despite mao's efforts to erase it entirely (example being him burning down almost every library and museum filled with old chinese texts, records, and artifacts during the Great Leap Forward) so ideas such as your spiritual energy and chi and whatnot is still very prevalent in Chinese people. Many of these traditional remedies are believed to do these things due to the characteristics of the animal and it's parts. These beliefs are also held so strongly in China because a big part of their culture is respecting their ancestors, which is good in moderation, but the extent that it's held there is to the point that they believe that the people in the past knew all these things that we young people don't know due to our lack of experience and wisdom. Also widespread education in china has a spotty quality at best so the average population is under educated (the average IQ rating china has is because they only counted IQ tests taken from the top universities in China).

The zoo in my city used to be vibrant and lively and each animal was as healthy as they could be, spoiled too. But after the owner of the zoo died and taken over by his children, the zoo practically became a waste land, each animal dying by the years go by, and those remaining are in bad shape. I just know that late zoo owner would be extremely disappointed if he were alive today😢😢😢 Edit: There were some endangered animals in captivity, the late zoo owner kept them well fed and made sure they multiply. Sadly the last remaining endangered animal they had was a rhino that died just 2 years ago...

One species that may become and/or are certainly endangered and is currently balancing on that brink. They can be recognized by their calls..."justopoil.justopoil!!" A huge, mushroom cloud will spell the end for this fickle creature.

It's hard for me to see the merits of holistic medicine when we've lost and are currently losing so many animals because snake oil salesmen convinced people they have medicinal value.

Blame the Chinese, they represebt 90% of the holistic medicine, They have basically given medicinal powers to all the animals they coild, when their suply of tyger parts got low they changed to Jaguars and Leopards.

Your videos are great but man I really wish you would change that intro tune, it's so godawful it really turns me off of watching more of your content.
