5 Types of Roundhouse Kicks

Күн бұрын

The most common types of roundhouse kicks thrown in MMA are usually a Thai-style, powerful swinging of the leg aiming for the leg, body, or head. However, by changing the angles and positioning of our foot, we can modify how we throw these kicks.
1. Snap Kick ("Mawashi Geri" in Japanese)
2. Thai-Style Roundhouse Kick ("Te Tat" in Thai)
3. Mawashi Geri Chusoku
4. Twist Kick or Inverted Roundhouse
5. Ankle Sweep

the so called pivoting: you need to lift the achilles heel up before you can actually pivot, that will ease the process. By pivoting the foot the rest of the body will follow (especially hips which grant the acceleration to hit strong). You can precede to ease the lifting up of heel with a certain coordination of the body, I mean, you throw your forward arm ahead-up - this will lift up the body and consequently will make very easy to lift up the Achilles heel so the pivoting will flow (just check some Bruce Lee video in slow motion, Lee used the finger jab to hit, to defend and to do this kinda coordination).

ALMIGHTY GOD KABIR is the father of all souls that JESUS, MOHAMMAD, GURU NANAK, VEDH was telling in BIBLE, QURAN, GURU GRANTHA SAHEB .. In OLD Orthodox Jewish Bible KABIR is mentioned...KABIR means (ALMIGHTY GOD) in hebrew...but when translated in different languages translator removed KABIR word.....Quran written in arabic has also KABIR word....KABIR means Supreme in arabic.....In vedh also Kabir is mentioned.....U will get surprised that in Holy book of SIkh called PRAANSANGALI…. GURU NANAK himself described that Lord Kabir is his Guru and Lord KABIR met him..and in GURU GRANTHA SAHEB Guru Nanak called Lord kabir as kartar (GOD)..but todays Sikh says that GURU NANAK had no Guru........Just by reading holy books it is impossible to get depth knowledge of Holy text because we are just a living beings.. In vedhas also KABIR is mentioned...our brain isnot capable and doesnot understands the secrets behind the words and world.....JESUS AND MOHAMMAD both were aware of LORD KABIR but later followers were not able to get depth knowledge .....In bible it is written that Jesus was son of FATHER... then WHO IS THE FATHER? Brother/SISTER LORD KABIR has send the messenger in present time in the form of SAINT RAMPALJI MAHARAJ... BIBLE, QURAN, VEDH, GURU GRANTHA SAHEB are holy books of Christain, Hindu, MUlsim, SIKh & all these holy books are suggesting one ALMIGHTY GOD KABIR but today preachers of different religion doesnot understand the secrets thats why HUMAN society cannot get full benefits from ALMIGHTY GOD...As a result more and more people are becoming non believer..... … Any kinds of DISEASES(MENTAL, PHYSCIAL, SPIRITUAL), PARANORMAL ACTIVITY,CURSE,BLACK MAGIC,GHOST is cured by Getting Diksya (mantra ) from SAINT RAMPALJI MAHARAJ..Note: No charge is taken. .one can get MANTRA dikshya from INTERNET or BY PHONE CALL after getting dikshya evil things cannot hover around the person....ANY KINDS OF DIESEASES AIDS, CANCER , KIDNEY FAILURE IS HEALED BY SAINT RAMPALJI MAHARAJ......BUT ONE SHOULD NOT VIOLATE GODS RULES after becoming DISCIPLE of SAINT RAMPALJI MAHARAJ - NO MEAT, NO EGG, NO DRUGS( ALCOHOL, CIGARATEES, TOBACCO, MARIHUANA, COCAINE) -NO ADULETERY, NO PORN, NO POLYGAMY, NO PRE MARRIAGE SEX, -NO GAMBLING, NO STEAL -NO ABORTION Download free GYAN GANGA ,(WAY OF LIVING) JINEKI RAHE book on WWW.JAGATGURURAMPALJI.ORG or CALL OR SMS ON FOLLOWING NUMBERS TO GET GYAN GANGA , JINEKI RAHE(WAY OF LIVING) , GEETA TIMRO GYAN AMRIT FREE OF COST THROUGH OUT THE WORLD AND FREE COURIEIR SERVICE IS AVAILABLE For more spiritual knowledge Please Download free GYAN GANGA, WAY OF LIVING( JINEKI RAHE) book on WWW.JAGATGURURAMPALJI.ORG or CALL OR SMS ON FOLLOWING NUMBERS TO GET GYAN GANGA , JINEKI RAHE(WAY OF LIVING) , GEETA TIMRO GYAN AMRIT BOOK FREE OF COST THROUGH OUT THE WORLD AND FREE COURIEIR SERVICE IS AVAILABLE.. The ankle sweep in karate is also called Sokubo Kake Uke, and the last kick you can called it soto mawashi geri, there is a kick called Gyaku mawashi geri with the same principle of a front kick but you penetrate in an inverted way like a half moon from the outside to the inside, kind of hard to explain but look for it, as always very pleased with your videos Shane!

Excellent video. One addition that I believe would be helpful would be to include a front angle view of each kick. Seeing it from the perspective of the one being kicked not only helps to see the technique from an additional angle but also helps in recognizing and defending against it.

in Savat, doing this with the outside of the foot is called the Outside Kick. with the ball of the foot, is the Comma Kick, with the heel is the Hook Kick. Unless you're a Freak Athlete, trying to perform these kicks in a Real Fight is a Terrible Idea. But for sport fighting, you can land something slappy for a cool highlight...

Furthermore, the knee chamber for taekwondo for snap kicks have the role of lowering telegraph. Taekwondo sacrifices power for speed/telegraph reduction. Since virtually all kicks in taekwondo start with a knee chamber, it's more difficult for the receiver to determine if resulting kick will be a mid roundhouse, a high roundhouse, an axe kick, a cut/push/side kick, a hook kick, etc.

Shane! Awesome video as always my man! If I may, I feel your twist kick was more of a crescent kick. When I took Taekwondo, I learned the start of the twist kick is exactly how you said, but you're actually going to turn your foot and leg sideways using your hip. I have always seen it more as an evasive counter technique. Just my thought my brother. Keep doing a great job!

Shane, you don't need to worry about your toes with the #3 kick if you have footwear in a street fight (boots should help). I like to add #6. It's #3 but instead of going around, from the chamber position, you pivot then unroll your kick with the foot going straight ahead. You can say it's a mixture of front snap and roundhouse snap to fool the opponent.

Cool video. Two minor corrections: Don't straighten your support leg on the snap kick. Keep a slight bend and sit on the kick as you pivot. For the "twist" kick, sit more, keep the sole of the foot planted (don't come up on your toes so much) and twist the hips more. It's kind of a counter spin motion. Rick Hatton has a great video on this specific technique. Check it out. Thank you so much for sharing. Your love and respect for the Martial Arts is a beautiful thing! Ooss

Could also try a Chaiya kick, which is a short ranged roundhouse kick. When you're on the inside (or at least too close for a traditional Thai kick) you just fire your leg up (with a 90degree bend), torque the same side shoulder (without swinging) and come up right into their ribs. I've recently started using this in sparring and seen some decent results in it as they keep expecting a knee down the centre or into the side.

The last kick is a variation of uchi mawashi geri done poorley in this case. From what I know, you should raise your knee not very fast so he can see it and lower his guard to block the knee and then snap the rest of the leg so you hit his head with the outer side of the foot.
