I don't know if it's underrated, but "The Way I Feel" by Gordon Lightfoot is outstanding; I think it's his best album. "Rewind" by Johnny Rivers (with most of the songs written by Jimmy Webb); "Let's Live for Today" by the Grass Roots; "Cry Softly, Lonely One" by Roy Orbison, and "Goodbye and Hello" by Tim Buckley are also unfairly forgotten, as is "King Size Soul" by King Curtis and the Kingpins, although I'm not sure if the latter was released in late '67 or early '68. And I don't care what anybody says, I like "The Many Moods of Murry Wilson."

Vanilla Fudge is my favorite album. They did a killer version of The Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On".
@vinylrecordplayer4 ай бұрын
Yep. That Supremes cover is legendary. Their easy best, for sure. Thanks for watching! 😁

Electric music for the mind and body from country Joe and the fish is a must have a phsycadelic classic 😊

Interesting. I'll look into this. Thanks for watching! 🤘

I had always thought that "Boogie with Canned Heat" was their debut album until I came across that debut at a garage sale and "WOW". Then, as things often happen in my life like this, went to another garage sale and found a "Mono" pressing. Yes, I have all their first 5 LPs, all gems.

MIA: 'Younger Than Yesterday' - The Byrds
@vinylrecordplayer4 ай бұрын
Good one, but I would say it's always called the Best Byrds LP, by a band that was maybe was underrated in the '60s, but I'd say is certainly "rated" now. Still. Great goddamn LP. Cheers! 😁

Henry Vestine and Hyte were 78 collectors. I think Henry was part of a crew that went looking for Son House in Mississippi. Alan Wilson was such an unappreciated talent

Totally agree. Dude could play a helluva harp! 😁

Bob Hite was rumored to be buying up duplicates of 78s he already had and smashing them. Al Wilson was made in the mold of Page/Plant -- both of the big Canned Heat hits were swiped from old records. I do like Larry Taylor's bass playing a lot.

The band name comes from a Tommy Johnson 78 about drink filtered Sterno. “Canned Heat”.

The Vanilla Fudge debut is over rated except You Keep Me Hangin’ On. I had never heard of Scott Walker until I started watching VC videos. The Canned Heat debut is the only one that I don’t have. Once Blind Owl Wilson died they weren’t the same. I don’t think I know Linda Jones.

That canned heat is great. Need it on wax. Some amazing selections Keep them coming. Congrats on all the recent subs. You’re well on your way my friend.

Artists and bands like David Bowie, U2, and Radiohead have all cited Scott Walker as an influence, particularly Bowie, who produced the Walker documentary "30th Century Man".

Agree fully that 1967 is the best year ever for music, by far. So much creativity and new sounds -- driven by the Beatles, as well as a slew of new artists and one-hit wonders.

I've always said any year between 65-75 could be argued as being the best ever year in music. Maybe discarding 65 and 75, I still believe that to be true. Thanks for watching! 😁

I don't know Linda Jones, but the other four were very popular in my part of the UK back in 67. Cheers
