Short version: 1) IV-V-vi (all in open voicings: root, 5th, 3rd) 2) IV-iib-vic (plus root repeated an octave down; with IV chord twice as long) 3) vi m7-V6-IV7 , iim7-Vm7-IV7 (plus root repeated an octave down; with the IV chords twice as long) 4) (in C): FGC, CGC, GGBC, AAC... so Isus4, I5, Vsus4, vi3 (I love this!) 5) (in C): GDAD, BBF#AD, AAEAD (first twice as long)... so Vsus2, vii7, iisus2 EDIT in G, it's Isus2, iii7, iisus4, which is more sensible (bonus tip from me: if you want evenly spaced notes, use the grid, not the metronome!)
@marcellkovacs54523 жыл бұрын
Isn't the last one a Isus2 iii7 iisus4? I'm pretty sure it's actually in G, not C.

A sus chord is short for suspended chord. A modern sus chords replaces the 3rd with either the 4th or 2nd, and is labelled “sus4” or “sus2” respectively. If it is simply labelled “sus” it means that both the 2nd and the 4th are used. For example while G would be G B and D, Gsus2 would be G A D, and Gsus4 would be G C D, while Gsus would be G A C D. The sharp eyed will notice that Gsus is also D7sus4. Optional further reading: It comes from the practice in counterpoint of “suspending” a dissonant tone from a previous chord over the following chord, namely the 2nd, 4th, or 7th, (or 9th, 11th etc) before resolving it to the 1st, 3rd or 6th (8th, 10th, 13th). In the intervening few centuries advances in harmonic theory have discovered that the immediate resolution of these dissonances isn’t really necessary*. So long as the note of resolution comes at some point before the end of the phrase it will sound fine. This is basically what led to the discovery of Jazz harmony.

Ever since I've started producing the hardest thing for me has always been the breakdown. I've gotten really good at making a suspenseful intro and energetic "drop" but when it comes to lowering that energy and then rising it again. It always proves to be a challenge. If anyone has any info that would help I'd be happy listen!

Sus chords don't mean sustained they mean suspended its where the 2nd or 4th note replaces the 3rd of a chord in anticipation of it. It suspends it by leaving it hanging but typically will move to the 3rd

The last progression is actually a 1-3-5 in G Major. To play the same progression in C Major, like the rest of the progressions in the video, you'd play: Csus2, Em7, Gsus2.

How do your individual triads make sounds for the entire duration My chords make a sound at the beginning of the note, but mid-half way through they drop off into silenced , in sound trap . I guess I need more velocity or effects? This and building chord progressions that sound good seems impossible I spend hours dragging notes around and everything sounds like crap .

It’s just the type of sound you’re using. Try using synth leads or pads. Sounds like you’re using plucks or percussive synths.

Thanks brother appreciate you :)

Good question! Make sure to layer those pads with one of the sub bass presets. Big chords are all about the bass. When you get that right, the chords will sound good.
