>Sega C&Ds fan projects based on dead IPs like Streets of Rage and Shining Force >But not fan projects based on Sonic >Turned down that third-party company who wanted to revive Jet Set Radio >Sonic Mania made by third-party company Here's my theory: Sega isn't just sort of letting their unused IPs idly sit around - they *actively want those properties dead*.
@Aevilbeast7 жыл бұрын
I think it's more that they kinda of gave up on trying to create an actual good Sonic game and let others try to make one since they're desperate. This way if it's bad they don't have to take the blame and they don't have anything invested in it. Plus, they are probably holding on to their other IP's just incase they come up with a good idea or need to make some quick cash. Makes sense business wise. I mean even a HD remake or mediocre Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Streets of Rage,etc would definitely sell big on pure nostalgia alone, and make them some serious cash. Like an Ace up their sleeve, just waiting for the perfect timing to use it. Sega is unfortunately not doing so well, so they trying to survive anyway they can and letting people/groups have at their most loved and famous IP's would be a risk they aren't willing to take.

Due to their complexity, RPGs have to be one of the hardest genres to kickstart. Not just because they're so time and detail intense to make, but because they can (and probably will) cost a LOT more than you'd imagine to make. There's a reason even the "well known" kickstarted cRPGs have had 7 figure goals, that was basically just "stay afloat" or "side" money until they released the game to recoup the majority of their costs.

Undertail, Lisa the Painful. I'm pretty sure if you actually search for it you will find more good RPG Kickstarter games. Also having a Publisher ... publish a game is not the same as a Publisher Investing in the development of a game.

You should do one on the scam that was ReRoll. The game that was gong to "map the world with drones" for their MMO "game." First day that game was announced I went on their forum and told people their idea is ridiculous, and cheaper and more efficient mapping techniques already existed. And if they haven't even figured out that very fundamental issue with their game, then it's got to be a scam. Days later I checked back, not only had someone from the team responded to my topic in their forum, they didn't even delete it. That's shows the confidence the team had in the stupidity of some consumers.

I've actually backed a lot of Kickstarters for board games and video games and every other one so far has been a success (knock on wood Bloodstained please don't suck). But Unsung Story is the game I wanted to work out the best because my love of Matsuno's work is one of the few fandoms that will get my blood pumping as I slowly morph into an old man. I hope Little Orbit can still turn out a quality party but at this point it won't be the project originally promised and I'm not only left feeling burnt by the original Kickstarter, but straight up sad the spiritual successor to Tactics I was dreaming about, foaming at the mouth about, will probably never be.

Wow, that soundtrack takes me back to Marvel VS Capcom 2 instantly.

Unless I’m mistaken I’m surprised you’ve never included Nicalis on any of your lists, especially the Kickstarter ones. I feel like it’s one of the more notorious Kickstarter controversies in gaming. Like they’ve been hanging onto 90s arcade racer it since around 2013 and openly mock people asking about it and the original dev can’t do anything about it due to legal reasons. Not to mention how many other indie developers Nicalis has fucked over.

I was ripped off on Kickstarter by the Bucanneer 3D printer - a record breaking (for the time) Kickstarter that ran off with £500 that I backed the project with. I even offered to travel directly to Singapore to collect in person, to save them from spending out on international shipping! After years of broken promises, I’ve given up. Lesson learned and from now on I only back KS stuff I trust with 100% certainty.

I'm sorry to hear that dude, has there been many others asking about it's development?
@Juganawt7 жыл бұрын
Larry Bundy Jr yeah there were over 3,500 backers. It seemed great - it even had news articles about how the printer was going to be an educational tool for universities, and how its compact design would make it the first affordable and user friendly home 3D printer on the market. Apparently a small selection received an early non-heated bed version of the printer about 2 years later than the original scheduled release date, while the rest of us got shafted. The guy even admitted, after taking down the Facebook page, that nobody worked at his company any more and he’s left the project to work elsewhere.no refunds, not even a “sorry”. Nothing. And Even though I backed it years ago it still pisses me off something rotten to think that the designers could be so cold to people who invested 10x their requested initial goal!

Daniel / Larry, can you guys list your music tracks used please? I know it seems like a minor thing of trivial importance, but, its hard trying to check the comments to see if anyone has asked what a song was.

Wild season was another kickstarter game that fizzled out, at least they released a playable version

Here's a lesson: Don't pledge too much for a team you dont know about or a campaign that gives little info.

Anyone know the music that is playing at 16:20? It sounds very familiar.

May have missed this one: www.kickstarter.com/projects/robaato/cryamore-a-true-first-class-take-on-the-action-rpg/description Granted, it is now progress somewhat nicely but it has been delayed for about four years at least and it had some issues. Which is a shame because it looks promising and hopefully it does get release sometime next year but who knows.

I might go and make a Kickstarter some day, though a small one to fund weapons and armour for KZbin videos. These scalpers will make it a tough job however!

Check out Harem Protagonist on Kickstarter, It's a dating sim that asked for €8,000, got €62,000. I think they also set up an extra paypal at one point, though I may be mistaken. With an expected delivery of last July. They usually go multiple months without updates. But it does appear they're still working on it. So it's not failed. Yet.

I think in this kind of list, should be added the original Homestuck videogame, not because Andrew Hussie scammed people, but he was scammed by the company he hired, taking the kickstarter money to make another game. Eventually Hussie made the game, called "Hiveswap", with the rest of the money.

That is bull****! Asking for $100k and getting 10 times more than needed only for it to go to waste. Even though I never paid for any kickstarters, the last one actually irritates me. I love RPGs and many of its sub genres, to hear so much money went in to it (with an awesome title, Project Phoenix, so cool) only to get nothing, that's just terrible. Damn these scammers. Hopefully the backers get something out of this someday, if not, then here's hoping that scammers everywhere get what they deserved.

Love the videos, do you take requests? I'd like to throw Barkley 2 Curse Of Cuchulainn out there for examination. Had a Kickstarter in 2012, reached the goal, had a release date of 2014 and now seems to be vapourware. I'd like to know what if anything is going on.

On the Tiny Metal steam page they're claiming the PR rep was blackmailing the company to not release that statement that was false, and that they're suing the PR rep. But I take this as a case of "he said, she said" until I see solid evidence for one side or the other.
