Dear Dr. Blake Shusterman: THANK YOU for sharing such valuable information. At one point, my blood pressure was 210/110. After losing 80 pounds, exercising, eating low sodium (1,500 mg of sodium per day), eating home-cooked meals instead of eating in restaurants and eating junk food at fast food restaurants, my blood pressure is 127/74. My blood sugar is in the normal range and I no longer have to take Metformin. I still continue to take one Perindopril tablet (2.5 mg) per day.

@I'm happy Dear I'm happy: I'm not going to say it' was easy. Changing any behaviour is difficult at first. But, I didn't have any choice. My health was being affected by being morbidly obese. Either continue doing what I was doing by eating, and eating, and MORE eating the wrong foods and facing health challenges along the way. I always keep a variety of unsalted nuts in the house and limit myself to 1 oz. (1 oz. = 35 almonds) when cravings hit. Slow and steady, at weight loss, wins the race! I used to get frustrated when I would lose 1 pound per week, but over a year that is 52 pounds. Weight loss is worth it. Health is wealth! I hope the New Year brings you good health, peace and happiness.🎆 🎉🎊🎇

I quit my job as a nurse my A1C dropped from 11:00 to 7:00 and that was with me stopping the medications around the same time. I really believe that stress causes a lot of medical issues in our lives people don't want to believe it but absolutely. I came down with Graves disease the doctors puzzled what happened what happened am I eating iodine filled Foods am I eating sea moss whatever. I told him no it's distress it's through an extremely stressful. And it affected my body. He told me very boldly that that's not true stress cannot affect the thyroids that way. I disagree with him 100%. When I left the military in 2004 my whole body would hurt I was sick all the time I literally would be walking down the street on my bladder would open I would pee myself. And then it all went away after I've been out of the military for a few years. I figured out the urinary incontinence was actually based on how stressful my life was basically on the forgetfulness and the painful joints was based on not just what I ate but the stress that I was under. These little things we need to really investigate and look at

I'm wondering if "High Blood Pressure" is a thing? Because here in America the norm is 120/80. But I found out in other countries it's 140/90. Why is that? So far no doctor has answered that. On a personal note when my blood pressure is 120/80 or a bit lower, I'm dizzy and nauseous. But when my blood pressure is higher than that I'm fine. So, it had me thinking. Blood pressure has to be individualistic.Or is there really such a thing as "High Blood Pressure?"

I enjoy smoking and drinking and doing all kinds of unhealthy things but unlike many people who do unhealthy things, I am a realist. So: I dont want to agree about smoking but from my observation it is, alas, alas, true. My evening blood pressure systolic is typically between 132-142. But if I smoke in the evening, it is typically 142-152. I have done this time and time again, seems to be no doubt. The results from coffee are much less obvious. I am also not totally sure about alcohol. Until recently I used to drink way more alcohol than I do now (about 4-5 bottles of wine a week) and jhave cut back dramatically (about one and ahalf bottle a week) . Six weeks into my low alcohol regiomen and far from sinking since I stopped drinking my blood pressure seems to be rising but Ill hold on for another six months. Apart from my own health I am interested out of curiosity about all this. I dont trust what experts say and if I can find out for myself by testing myself, I do. To date: coffee I see no evidence, also for alcohol, but smoking out of my private experience the evidence is pushes it up big time and sorry all of us smokers, in my case at elast the evidence is irrefutable. I have been testing smoking for two years now and it puts my BP over average every time I do it. I didnt want to believe it but the evidence is there. Exercise helps? yes, probably correct again going from my own observation on myself. during the covid panc years I didnt exerice much and my systolic was up at 150-160 since doing a lot of exercise (nearly always over 10k steps a day plus pressups and strenuous biking) my BP average is down to 132-142. That doesnt look like a coincidence. Or put it like this: too big a difference to be a coincidence. So taking up exercise did reduce my BP but sadly so far drastically cutting back on alcohol has not. A QUESTION: One information I am keen to learn and cant find anywhere on t he net: There is plenty of information about what BP should be but WHAT ARE REAL NATIONAL AVERAGES for real BP? It is so strange the info isnt published. There are enough statistics about average weight, deaths etc Why is there no information about typical median BP of different people around the world? I would personally be most interested to know!

this is very depressing... I have been diagnosed with high PB for a couple of month now (150/100). Before that I used to be slightly overweight, trained regularly, did not smoke or drink. Since two months back I have increased my training (running 3 times a week one hour), I have almost completely removed carbs and lost 6 kg, I am not eating any processed food, I am eating all the recommended stuff (flax seed, avocado, salmon, hibiscus tea and so on), I sleep at least 8 hours, even tried accupunture. During the 2 first weeks of changes of my lifestyle, my BP got down to almost 120/75. But then it got back to 145/95 (ish) and seems stuck there. I can make it go down a little by doing breathing exercises before it take my BP, but this feels like cheating as it is not sustainable. At that point I am thinking of quiting all those changes and just not bother, take a pill, because obviously something is not working out right.

I am a smoker as well but I quit 35 years ago, I am so glad that I quit , I always go to the gym, but oneday while doing my aerobics I encounter having short of breath, and I blame it all on smoking, I told myself that smoking is not gonna help me live a long life, so what I did I slow down, and I forgot to say I hate the cigarettes smells on my clothes my hair my mouth, so I decided telling myself I have to stop, so I did stop by slowing down instead of smoking one stick. I cut it down to half and I throw out the rest, then the next time I smoke again I cut it down to a quarter, and even if I am at work I go to the bathroom and brush my teeth, my tongue so bottom line you have to have to control yourself of craving, and the lasting I told myself , I am wasting my money and ruining my health. I said to myself this is got to stop and when I finally quit I always eat mint candy in my mouth, and that really helps I am so happy and glad I did it, so now I save money and my health, and I thank Jesus for helping me to quit smoking. hope that help you as well. Take care.❤

I have tried everything. Hibiscus tea ,exercise , deep breathing, keto diet. I'm not over weight. And I'm still struggling. Sometimes my bp is perfect other times its 150 over 80. It drives me nuts. The funny thing is, if i have a few drinks 🍸 it is perect. I hate to go on meds.

I've lost several friends to lung or mouth cancer due to tobacco products. However, to the disappointment of the tobacco industry, I don't know or have seen anybody using tobacco products for quite sometime. A major change is taking place, fortunately.

Hello, I am a 25 year old with family history of HBP. I have had high blood pressure since I was in high school. My blood pressure is usually ranges around 140/105 +. I consider myself healthy, I exercise at least 4-5 times a week for an hour, eat healthy meals at home with limited sodium, and rarely drink. I do not drink or eat overly sugary foods/beverages, and limit caffeine ti about 80mg per day. I have been to a cardiologist and my labs are normal, I have also had a kidney ultrasound and that was normal, my echocardiogram is normal, and have tried 3 different types of blood pressure medicine but they do not lower my blood pressure even when on high dosage. Do you have any suggestions for things that I could bring up/talk to my doctor for my abnormal situation? We haven’t been able to find the cause of my high blood pressure or how to lower it

For this isolated case where there is no conventional answer to your situation, you need Christ Jesus; seek prays, he will heal you if you believe.
