We have a meat market here in Orlando that sells separate packages of drumettes or flats That's the part of the chicken wing that has the 2 bones in it. Just recently they started doing turkey wings that way too. And the carcass My mom always made chicken perlo rice.😋
@malina12393 ай бұрын
@@purpletulips4648my family don’t eat chicken or turkey thights or drums, we only like the small two boned wings roasted with a dry rub with a lot of paprika . Here we call it grill spice. So only breast and the tiny wing tips. I’m sad to say the brown meat are not for us at all… I’ve tried to sneak in some skinned and deboned thigh meat in stews, but everyone notices that the taste is off, including me🤭 The thing that really annoys me over here is that it’s impossible to find breasts with the skin on, especially on turkey. I really want the skin on, as it gives off so much taste while roasting and it keeps the moisture in. We can sometime find chicken breast with the skin on, but that’s only one in a pack and the price is insane like $12 for one small breast So I always cook a whole turkey for new years even though we only eat the breasts..

The chicken parts looked so much better than the ones I can get from our local Costco. The colour was uniform and I bet if I ever cooked one of yours, I wouldn’t be able to tolerate the old beat up and bruised fowl they sell. The canned meat had me salivating. Great post today.

You are training her well for the future. I know your parents are very appreciative for all the help you give them. I am only letting my cornish cross grow for 7 weeks vs 8. I am aiming for a little over a 3-4 lb bird. I have found that 5-7 lbs...tough meat no matter if you let rest for 48 hours. This year will give me lots of answers.

Excellent video. We can't raise our own chickens, so we buy from a local farmer. I usually buy 10 whole at a time and part them out myself, saving a ton of money. I don't leave any whole, but spatchcock a few. Since we are not savages (I kid), we cut the wings into drums and flats. The tips go in the broth bags.

I have been preserving chicken breast meat like that in the quart jars recently. It's not as fancy as a grilled chicken breast sliced up in whatever meal you're preparing, but its already cooked & so much better than the metal canned chicken from the grocery store. I think I'm going to do the spatchcock method for our Bresse this next time. Having it flat in the bag like that looks much better for space saving in the freezer!!!

A job well done. I have been thinking of piecing out this year for sale but not sure yet. Glad to see you leave for 48 hours - so many don't. I like an 8 pound bird for roasting - if you're going to cook a chicken, cook a chicken I figure. But I learned the people that want to buy my birds, don't feel the same way...lol. They want no leftovers or at most one leftover meal. So trying for smaller this year. I noticed there were no necks and/or giblets...interesting. Good job all!

I have been 😅watching for a long time and really enjoy your content. I just wanted to tell you when you redo your kitchen floor that the product used way back probably has asbestos in it. Any house built before 1980 has asbestos component in the floor unless it is a wood floor. No one would take the old flooring out here because of this issue. It was decided to put the new flooring on top of the old tiles which were from the 60’s. I’m not preaching to you , here but sharing information from my own life. Also to save mega bucks have you thought of stripping then painting your existing cupboards. My old ones are oak and the newer ones are pressed particle board. Whatever you decide I’ll be there watching. Canning time for me this week. All the best. 😊❤

Love the details from you all and teamwork is the way to go. One question I've always had is the cost of electric power for all the freezers. I know that understanding of what we eat is key, no GMO's etc, but on most things in life I must be a good steward of our money. Is there a way to give the bigger picture including the cost of storage, ie: freezer, canned, dehydrated, etc. Love your channel and enjoy the slower pace of things so they can be better understood and well communicated. We haven't canned chicken yet. We only have enough space for one round of chicken and use it as our whole meat. We spatchcock 12 chickens (1 per month) and piece out the rest. We pull wings off our spatchcocked chickens since we enjoy wings. We do can our rabbit, that is a farm animal we have lots of and use it for canning and ground meat. It's a lot of work but so worth it when you get to go "shopping" in your freezer and/or pantry
