There are a lot of ways to utilize a magazine page in your junk journal efforts. Creating Spine Jewelry by making magazine beads, utilizing a captivating magazine image as a focal point, moving the color of the magazine page with acetone to generate some interesting collage papers or pulling an image off the page and on to your journaling page.

I made beads the same way as you once but for some reason I had the idea that I needed to wind at least three of the papers for each bead. They were obese in the end 😂

I bet they were chunky, but chunky is not bad😀. I have been putting a resin coating on them now, which really makes them shine!

The nail polish remover with the torn magazine pieces was really hard to get the color to move. Do you use specific magazines? Thanks!

No I don’t choose any particular magazine but the nail polish remover is usually acetone based. I use an old tshirt(cotton) saturated with the remover to push the color. Vogue was the magazine I used in the video which is a higher quality magazine but I’ve used all kinds and never had any issues! Check the remover, I know some of the natural removers add moisturizer etc to reduce the impact of the solvent. Acetone is what you need!

I had trouble too. I tried acetone-based nail polish remover and Time magazine, Hollywood Reporter, and another one that I don't remember the name. I couldn't get her results either. I am going to try to find a Vogue since she said that is what she used. I wonder if it matters if it is modern ink (usually soy-based) or an old magazine with old ink formula?

How did you get the bead to come off the skewer so easily. Ive tried several times and each time i pull the bead off it pulls apart into a long cone and wont come off the skewer.

You may be wrapping too tight, also try to push the bead toward the edge instead of pulling on it. Hope that helps!
