When he's doing explosive pullups, notice that when he goes down, he then swings back, forward again and then pulls. You need that curve, otherwise you'll pull yourself into the bar. This is vital for getting that high and for the muscle up. I find it very hard to rep them out without the -> down-swing back-swingforward- up again part. But I've seen people do it though.

If you're serious about learning muscle ups, then you've seen plenty of tutorial videos on KZbin, this is the best I've seen. I can do muscle ups but they suck and this is helping me.

Knee keeping is not a mistake, you progress slowly while starting with knee keeping to make it easier on you, just like you learn the tuck planche before full planche. And don’t tell me he’s talking about form mistakes, if so the title is misleading, it literally says muscle up mistakes, not how to fix your mu form.

Road2BePinned i agree with you , knee keeping is beginner level , for people who arent strong enough yet , it gives you the momentum to go up and when you get stronger you can start applying straightening your legs and cleaning up your form ..

In this context you are totally right. What I trying to point out was that you should never trade reps for form. I see a lot of people working with the kipping form to do sets of 10 instead doing stricts because it would end in sets of 5.

Thats also why the mistake is called „quantity over quality“. So please relate everything afterwards to that 💪🏻

It is a mistake when beginners so sets with only kipping instead of training their explosive strength. For me, just doing kipping muscle ups was never as useful as doing explosive pulls with proper form, and I achieved an almost no kip muscle up much faster than people who trained kip

Calisthenics Lanka yes: try to do every pull movement with this grip for a certain time. It takes some time, but if you increase the time in this position by using it often it will progress fast. You can also do some isolation exercise for your forearms. There is some material for it on KZbin. I don’t have a video for this at the moment... maybe in the future!

@@MichaSchulz I know, but elbow tendinitis develops from overuse of the forearm flexors. I thought about getting wrist wraps to keep my wrists in neutral position during pull-ups.

I am thinking about trying muscle ups, I can do some pull ups in a row, but I prefer chin ups. Here is my question: Can I hit my face into the bar, if I unable to do it properly? Is that a real problem or you have to be quite unlucky to smash into bar?
