5 Year Old Snowboarders FIRST RUNS at La Parva, Chile

When we first got here we saw that most of the lifts are drag lifts or T bars. Cash has never done a T-bar before. She was so ready and confident and went for it. Unfortunately it didn’t go well. She tried and tried but couldn’t get it. That start shook her confidence a bit.
When we finally got up the mountain on one of the only lifts she was ready to go but as soon as we hit the steep part she froze. She got in her head and was telling herself that she couldn’t do it. It took us about 2 minutes to reassure her that she had the skills. As soon as she hit that toe turn it was game over. The TuTu Shredder was back and flying!
It’s important to make sure that her fear was acknowledged but to remind her how strong she is and that it just takes a bit of effort to help get over that fear. We all get scared, we all fall. It’s the getting up and trying again in order to achieve our goals that makes us better and stronger than you were before.

Oh my God EVERYONE would live to potential with that kind of encouragement from their parents. Her snowboarding is almost beside the point; the life skills and support they are teaching her are so life affirming. I am even feeling encouraged and feel like I can do something… not that, but something! Do it scared needs to be on a shirt!!

When I watch videos like this, I'm reminded of how much potential children have.... they have so much ability to handle and deal with what's given to them. And in this world, as parents we often find ourselves holding them back too much. That's your future right there.... what an amazing future she has.

@@RowleyAdventures , I can see her going to the winter sports school when she is older , are you familiar with it? It is in Park City , Utah . It is college prep school where they basically train kids in wither sports , no school November through April , pure winter sports training, then kids have school in the off season . Most students get college scholarships and some go to the Olympics .

Enough can't be said about this amazing little girl, but her dad? Come on! He's snowboarding, sometimes down blacks, while watching her every move, while coaching her whenever she gets in trouble, _before_ she gets in trouble, while encouraging her every step of the way, WHILE FILMING HER!!! And not just pointing the camera at her and hoping for the best. We're talking very long runs where he never loses her out of the frame, even while boarding around and around her, even while in front of her filming her _behind_ him. Think about that! All with less jitter than most folks can control while standing still on the ground! We can assume the cam is doing some of the stabilizing, but the rest is all him. Just amazing. Great work, dad!
