@wora1111Ай бұрын
The obvious answer is: "Learning German". Just about all the people studying in Germany speak English and German and most of the jobs that are offered expect you to represent your company to people that prefer speaking German (Customers, older bosses, ...). That you are competent in what you studied usually will be taken for granted, "soft skills" like languages are an additional qualification.

Girl you got lucky with that internship...I and my other foreign co workers were treated terribly by the collegues when we first started and for about the first 10 years until the big boss finally laid down the law and explained to the Germans that the foreigners are here to stay so get used to it or leave! I live in the Eastern side of Germany in Saxony since 2006 and if you follow the news you know that this part of Germany is SFD country and really not fans of auslander (foreigners) of any kind! I am from the USA and brown like you but even my blond and blue eyed collegue (also from the USA) had the same problems...Disrespect....Not trusting or believing that you know what you are talking about, dobule checking everything you do. even argueing about ENglish as if they could know better than a "Muttersprachler" (native speaker , about English and the USA! SO many foreign collegues came and went with in one year! THey all quit...I only stayed because I was married to a German at the time and saw no alternative, now after 18 years my job collegues have finally accepted me but sadly the outside environment because of the AFD has become a problem

21:05 a Master's degree with 2500 no way! They were grossly underpaying you. 3750 is the absolute rock bottom minimum I'd say. I guess the city can;t afford people from abroad undercutting local wages. Wuppertal is a poor, they need tax money. And the more you earn, they more they earn 🙂 If I may share my experience. By the time you have children you need to be sure whether you want to stay or go back and raise them there. If you stay and have familiy, language is crucially important, make peace with your mind. Germany is your new home. Settle, don't stay torn mentally childern will pick up on that. Meet Germans and their kids. Accept the brutal reality that you might not be there when loved ones back home become sick or even die.
