Mark keeps talking about how he’s sorry for being such a noob but honestly it’s so refreshing to see somebody just… play the beginning of minecraft slowly. He’s enjoying the steps that everybody else blows through to get to the “good parts” and i think that’s the whole point of this game. You shouldn’t ever really be doing a task you don’t want to do. If you don’t want to do it, work on something else. There are so many things you can do and it’s so beautiful to see mark enjoy the things not many people do.

I think they are two different merits, and this is one we just see so much more seldomly. I really do like the crazy long and tedious challenge videos or speedruns, but playthroughs like this are so nice to sit back and watch. In some ways it's like two different games. I think playing the game for max modes or challenges, even if they're tedious, still give a lot of people joy. But stuff like this, sitting back and playing and chilling, it's more representative of how we as the audience play the game, and it's so nice to see. It's almost like watching a friend on the couch and chatting with them vs watching a production of hours and hours and compiled, intense game knowledge. Both fun, but different entirely.

I got nostalgic for this after they were in a Minecraft world in Lethal Company. I also got nostalgic for Minecraft, I stopped playing it at some point in 2022 as it was repetitive (in terms of what I was doing in Minecraft) and is not linear enough. When you attack with any weapon, there is a little “recharge” gauge under your crosshair. Wait for that to recharge completely to do the maximum amount of damage. After a jump, you can attack while falling to land “critical hits” which do extra damage. The damage stats on your tools and weapons represent how many “half-hearts” of damage you do. For example, if a zombie has 5 hearts, and your sword does 5 damage, then it will translate to 2.5 hearts of damage on the zombie.
