also a good tip is to start from the point of the story you are most interested in and work your way out from there.

This is such a good video. all the suggestions have helped me. Ive spent so long looking for good videos on filmmaking but most of them only talk about gear as if everyone has unlimited money. THIS is one of the true gems of film making tips.

If you want to become a filmmaker, watch films. Not youtubers. If you wanna watch youtubers for it (I wouldn't) then what you should check out is short films and independent filmmakers like Joel Haver. Not just eye candy creators like Gawx that seem to forget that filmmaking is about telling a story, not just creating pretty shots (they are very beautiful though, kudos to him).

Thanks for your input, that’s an interesting point! I think it really depends on what you’re looking to gain from KZbin content. Films are, of course, essential for developing a sense of storytelling, directing, and emotion. But I also think KZbin can offer fascinating insights-especially from creators who share their process or document the challenges of filmmaking. Joel Haver is a great recommendation (I didn’t know him before), so thanks for that! 😊 In the end, for me, it’s about drawing inspiration from various sources-films, creative KZbinrs, museums, books, and more. What’s your favorite film that has helped you become a better filmmaker? 🎥

Every character (person, force, object) has a goal, they progress toward that goal until interrupted. The story is found in the impact of that interruption, and how they react. Story (change) is told through actions and reactions. Where do you start, where do you end. What happens in between, and how does what happens affect the character(s)? Context is king, and the first impression is the most important impression. Give context about the characters goal in the first impression. (even if it isnt the full story, give enough to explain their actions and reactions) The first impression is the biggest character defining moment. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q32TkqeHe7-tgposi=2Jmd0nROVmgOeopG This video is about writing a book, but the same story propertys apply.
