#50 16*2 LCD problems SOLVED!! | MUST WATCH BEFORE USING LCD WITH ARDUINO

Hello friends,
In this video we will solve two major errors which you might have encountered if you have ever used 16*2 LCD with arduino NANO via I2C module.
PROBLEM 1: Only first letter of each line is displayed on the screen
This is the problem of library and the library i am using is YWROBOT's LiquidCrystal_I2C.h. This library was compatible with Arduino IDE V1.0 but i am using higher version of it that is why i am getting this error. To solve this error simply open the CPP file of the library and change return 0 to return 1, save the file.
PROBLEM 2: Low brightness of the text
You might think the brightness of the text can be adjusted with the help of potentiometer which is given at the back of I2C module of the LCD. Yes, you are correct and i tried the same but this didn't work for me. So, i provided external 5V to the LCD and common the ground. The brightness of the ṭext get increased.

hello, for the first problem i changed the return value but when i close the file he is asking me to save it... so i click save but error happens he is telling me acess denied to C:\program.. file . Can you help please ?

The problem is with setting cursor to the new line. You can use set cursor command for the same.

@@PRROBOTICS I made a project were I used a lcd hcsr04 to print distance but accidently the lcd got hit during work and after that it stopped working. No letters nothing.

You have to buy new one if it is damaged. There is no solution for that. All these solutions of mine work with those which has I2C interface.

Hey, I can't help you with that much information. For troubleshooting I need some more information. Some general errors & their solutions which may help you are- 1. Double check all the connections 2. Replace the jumper wires 3. Connect arduino nano to external power source instead of USB 4. You may have switched SCL & SDA wires. 5. Make sure that you have initialized the lcd in void setup() in code

In Your Function "Liquidcrystal_I2C lcd " You have selected wrong LCD. Your LCD is 16*2 characters & You have wrote 20*4. That is the problem, Not in the Library.

It works but this was not your problem. You have a 16, 2 LCD. Your Code is for a 20, 4 LCD 20, 4 Means 20 Character in 4 Rows. But you have to edit your code for the 16 character 2 Rows LCD. Just Edit: (0x27,20, 4) to (0x27,16, 2) Now you can see in your first Row: Hello, world! and in your second line: Ywrobot Arduino. Line 3 and 4 are NOT on your LCD 1602. If you want to show it you must editthe third row 0,2 to 0,0 and the 4 row from 2,3 to 2,1 After lcd.print(Ywrobot Arduino"); you need also a delay otherwise row 1 and 2 with hello world will fast overwrite. delay(5000); // 5000 is for 5 seconds time to read row 1 and 2 ... then it will be overwrite with the next text.
