Quite a comprehensive list of verb conjugations. It sounds very similar to Sanskrit and few words sounds like Hindi as well. For example dena=give and pina=drink!

Φίλιππος Hoyle I am not really familiar with indo-European languages and its historical connection. But I know that Indian languages are quite close to Persian. I am from India and I am familiar with Sanskrit and other Indian languages, so I was actually surprised that Greek verb conjugations and the way he spoke sounded like Sanskrit. Hindi has a very different grammatical system but the verbs has the same root as in Sanskrit.

Yes but it's kind of arbitrary in which words it appears. So for example we'll say διέρρευσε but not διέβασε, we won't use ήκουσε but we do use ανήκουστο. Feels like a kind of linguistic residue.

Another good way (or trick) to distinguish παίρνω (take) from περνώ (pass / pass by) is that when tou take something you have more! As a result (hahaha!) παίρνω (take) has 6 letters, but περνώ has 5!

I was just wondering about one thing- the ζ in certain words, possibly before certain letters, sounds almost like a j in French, the ‘zh’ kind of sound, like in Παιζο for example. That is because the articulation of greek s and z lies between a standard s (z) and a sh (zh). Its not as light s nor as heavy as sh

I just found your program and I like it very much. One important thing I would like to learn very much is, the letter Ι, η, Υ, ε, sound very alike. E. G γιρο or γύρω. Similar with ω, ο. Ωραίο, ωρεο. It's very confusing. Thank you.

Unfortunately there's no easy way to learn the correct spelling of every word. That's one of the most challenging things about Greek -- there are many ways to write something that ends up sounding the same. If it helps, a lot has to do with the function of the words. Γύρω is an adverb, so it wouldn't end with an ο, which would be a typical ending for a neutral adjective or noun. Similarly, verbs always end with ω (1st person singular), never with ο, and there's a couple of simple rules that govern whether it's ε or αι at the end of a conjugated verb. Hope this helps a bit.
