Back to football/Wolves videos next week but as its international break I thought I'd discuss this topic! Like I said in the video, I'm not preaching, I just felt like sharing my experience with not drinking and discussing the benefits. Cheers.

Fairplay mate 👍 . Same background story as me Im thinking of doing it myself the hangovers and hangsiety are getting worse as im getting older lol. Im nearly 40 now time for change out of the drinking routean ahaa

Great video really honest. Coincidentally I went to Liverpool game also and haven’t drank since! Just out of work and kids also but have been reducing the amount I drink over the last couple of years. Losing weight is harder when you’re older and the drink doesn’t help. Probably will have a few drinks over Christmas but definitely made me think twice over the amounts. Agreed with the Guinness also, tastes almost the same! 👍🏽

I've cut right down and I stopped drinking lager for a while to lose weight. It's funny me and the misses got pissed Saturday night and never touched anything yesterday because we were hung over, so I tend to drink in moderation more now so I don't feel like I did yesterday. I've noticed how much better I feel though just from cutting down. So fair play to ya for knocking it on the head completely, whatever makes you happy mate is the way forward. 👌

Well done Harry. If only Wolves had been as tough as you over the last 50 days! We are all behind you. RESPECT.

Much respect for you m8. End of last year i managed 3 months without a drink. In those 3 months i had holidays abroad, wolves games home and away, weddings and came through it all without a drink. Felt amazing about myself and like you say, was sleeping better, more energy, skin felt better, had more focus with my job. Felt great !! For most of the time... But the last maybe 3 weeks of being sober i fell into a depression. Didnt want to do anything, go out, even missed wolves games because i just didnt see the point in anything. Then unfortunately... i fell off the wagon.. promising myself i wouldnt drink as much as i used to... just to try and get me out of the depression. And it worked !!! for a period of time... But now im back to square one... drinking until i pass out because i cant sleep. on a day to day basis. However... last week i had another one of my wake up calls... panic attacks constantly.. thinking im about to have a heart attack.. just not good ! And so its prompted me to try again... (5 days in) So seeing your vid has come at a great time. Well done and keep it up. I know exactly how your feeling. Keep up the great work our kid ! UTW !!

Can relate so much to this mate! That's the toughest part, your mind plays tricks on you and convinces you, you can drink again but be sensible with it! 3 months is incredible though and proof you can do it again! Think the best thing to do is fill the gaps with other stuff when you'd usually drink... the obvious being the gym etc... I've even started playing chess to pass time (never thought I'd say that sentence) lol. 5 days is 5 days and will be 3 months before you know it, keep going 🙌

@@HarryMansell Thanks m8... gonna give it a good go. My biggest problem is sleeping. My brain is so active at night with stress about work and life.. i find it impossible to fall asleep and find myself just lay there till 3, 4 and 5am wide awake with all kinds of shit going round in my head... then feel like shit when i go to work ! So a lot of the time, i dont even want a drink... i just down a load of vodka as quick as i can about 10pm to knock myself out to get some sleep ! But we both know its not the answer. My best mate had a real real big problem.. he had to go down the AA route and struggled massively.. but he is now 6 years sober and built like a brick shithouse !! Keep going mukka !

Well done Harry, a great vlog and well worth sharing. I have reduced my alcohol intake and agree the Guinness zero is good. Will still have a couple of pints when out but can stop before it gets messy. Must say though as a fellow Wolves fan it can drive you to drink! Keep up the good work and keep sharing to inspire others! 👍👏🥰

Fair play to you mate, fingers crossed you can keep it going! Just on the counter to what you said, about missing out on a good night out because you're not drinking. I permanently feel that I've missed out over the years, on great nights out, Because I don't drink! Don't like the stuff! Lucky for me, maybe?

Never apologise (or at least sound apologetic!) for doing something that improves your quality of life. I haven't given up the booze myself, but I only drink a small fraction of what I used to back in my 20s and early 30s and can easily go weeks without a visit to the pub and I never drink at home. Keep going!
@chaoticrager1722Ай бұрын
Congratulations H! Yes i have thought about it as well but its so hard when going to the football to watch wolves at home as i usually drink between 6 and 8 pints. My mate already told me ages ago "you're not drinking?! I aint buying you pints of coke all day, costs about same as a lager!" which is very true, but i not blaming him for me still drinking at the football as i could buy me own drinks and he could buy his but lager always wins for footy. Sorry mate. But maybe one day.

Great video, just subscribed. Wolves fan here too. I used to a binge drinker every weekend in my early 20s (i’m 28 now). Whether it be at the Wolves or out clubbing or pub crawls, i’d drink every weekend. Thankfully when Covid hit, I snapped out of that lifestyle. I think that football and alcohol/drugs just brings out the worst in people. Being sober and surrounded by a load of drunk football fans is not a pleasant experience. I’m now a keen fitness enthusiast and very rarely touch alcohol. I’ve only drunk twice this year. All the best, Harry👏🏼

Well done! Keep it up. I just crossed 500 days. It is hard but being more present and setting an example for your kids puts things in better focus. The people that care about you will still do. I have found a lot more people wish to have your conviction to do it but never do. Good on you for sharing your journey.
