My tool brother, I noticed the wedding ring. Congratulations my man. And I know a baby is on the way too. Looks like an awesome year is in store for you. And tool hauls too.

It’s going to be a great year dude. It’s crazy to think how much has changed in 1 year for me. Looking forward to more tools and that boy is going to be born in a couple months. The only thing I’m worried about is being short on tool money 😂

Love those Vaco screwdrivers, I had one as a kid but my brother borrowed it and kept it. Awesome video. I also love the Kennedy tool boxes I have 2 box the brown finish. One is a 26” regular one with a tray the other is the cantilever style. I got them in 1997 when I had to go overseas for a job.

I just picked up one of those Torrington screwdrivers this weeks video. Nice scores. Hopefully some of this snow up here melts and estate sales pick up.

There was a bunch of them in the bucket. Kind of wish I would have grabbed a few. Yea we’re probably a few weeks ahead down here in the south.

Always envious of your tool hauls, my area sucks for vintage tools, nothing but rusty junk, I'm lucky if I even find anything as good as Craftsman. Those old Stanley 100 screwdrivers are really pretty decent screwdrivers. Sad to see Stanley tools moved production to China. Short hacksaw do come in handy, but any blades shorter than 10" can be a little tricky to find. The little 6" blades usually have the wrong size mounting holes, with the intent of being used in minuture hacksaw frames. You're going to need some good drills to enlarge holes in hacksaw blades. What I find interesting are long hacksaws. You can really burn through some stuff with an 18" or 24" blade. You do have to watch out you don't get meat saw frames or blades, though. Thanks for sharing. 👍

It is hard to find a shorter blade than 10 inch. I have some old ones. I’m not a fan of those skinny little 6 inch ones. Yea I guess I’m in good area. EstateSales.net helps me out a lot. I can look at the pictures before hand and not waste my time going to a junk sale. I do stop at a lot just from looking at signs too. I do go to my fair share of dud sales though lol

7:08 During grinding you just need to cool it regularly (dipping in water or so) . So the heat treatment will not be affected. After grinding you can make a black finish by treating it with steam. Probably there are better methods but boiling them in water is easy to setup. The black will only grow where iron and rust is in contact (thats what I heard). Then you need to take it out and let it rust to get just a thin coating of rust and then boil it and then rub it (steel wool /wire brush or so) and this needs to be repeated many times. Because of the water the temperature is limited and and it will not affect the heat treatment of the steal. Something else,.. if there were a small grinding wheel for the dremel or so , shaped like the cutouts on the phillips head. I mean completely the right dimensions of the whole slot,... then you just would hold it on the handle, align it, and let it pull on it. Maybe it works. Don't know, never tried.

Man I would be scared to do that. I’m I like how they look with just the metal finish work, but paint would be cool. I’m not very good with spray paint though. What kind of spray paint would you use for that? I would want to get something that wouldn’t chip all the time when I use them.

@@realworldtoolreviews I was a little hesitant about it too but after watching a couple dozen videos of other guys doing it I tried my hand this past week on some pipe wrenches and they came out great! I used Rustoleum Bare Metal Primer and whatever color Rustoleum you want. I’ll be putting out a video about it in a couple days 👍🏼

Don't feel bad about your screwdriver addiction. Mine is much worse. I collect ratchets to the extreme. I easily have 50 plus in my toolbox at work. It's gotten expensive but I truly enjoy it. Collection consists of Snap On, Mac, Cornwell, Matco, SK, Proto, Williams, Wright, Craftsman, and any other brand you could think of. I literally use different ones every day of the week, so they don't sit unused. 🤣🤣

Kennedy recommends rubbing WD40 on their tool boxes. It works to restore the darker color on the wrinkle finish and prevents rust.

Every time you start pulling out screwdrivers I think it looks like a bunch of cheap garbage. But then you go through them and im amazed at the finds. You definitely have a good eye. I have a millerfalls hacksaw that is probably 100 years old. Solid as can be. However, I've been more into mini hacksaws because they are compact. I just purchased the bahco mini hacksaw to put in my plumbing kit.
@realworldtoolreviews
@realworldtoolreviews Жыл бұрын
Mini hacksaws are great. I’ve thought about getting that Bahco one before. Right now I’ve just got a couple Stanley ones. Yea I like to think I have a good eye for spotting the good stuff that is blended in with the junk. That’s how I get good stuff for cheap. It looks like junk, but when I get it and clean it up, it’s treasure!
@qzetu
@qzetu Жыл бұрын
@@realworldtoolreviews the handle on the bahco is hard plastic and it's comfortable. My main concern was that it would flex because I'm having that issue with my coping saw. It appears strong so it should hold up. I mainly want it to cut drain pipe under sinks so it should be fine. The Stanley pistol grip ones they appear to be just as good. However, if you have their miniature one where the blade stick out on one side, I would recommend buying a pistol grip.
@realworldtoolreviews
@realworldtoolreviews Жыл бұрын
@@qzetu yea I have the non pistol grip kind. They are ok, but I’d like some better mini hacksaws. I use the Lennox folding saw that holds sawzall blades all the time instead. That thing is awesome.
@qzetu
@qzetu Жыл бұрын
@@realworldtoolreviews the reason why I prefer the mini hacksaw over the flip out sawzall saw is because the blades are cheaper and I can put a wood blade on it that is similar to a coping blade, but much stronger like a hacksaw blade. I have some old hack saw blades that have very aggressive wood cutting teeth. They cut plastic pipe and wood very good. Furthermore a pistol grip allows me to cut with much more control.
@realworldtoolreviews
@realworldtoolreviews Жыл бұрын
@@qzetu Yea I’m with you there. They have different uses. I like the folding one for certain things because the blade can bend and get in spots a hacksaw can’t, but hacksaws give you way more control like you said. I can see this becoming a rabbit hole for me right now. I see more hacksaws and blades in my future 😂
