@James Davis - my daughter showed me this movie after I was released from the hospital after a near-fatal car wreck. I have a severe brain injury, and have gone through the proper hospitalization and brain rehab to know the concept used in this movie to help her find a sense of normalcy is SPOT ON CORRECT. There is nothing stupid about this at all. As the romance aspect of it, yes, this is what brain injured patients need - love and patience. If you ever have any questions concerning this, please go to the brain injury ward of a local hospital/brain rehab facility and volunteer. You will need to have proper credentials to do this, and you must leave negative attitude at the door. All of us 'brainiacs' need as much positivity as we can get!!

This movie is a very true account of what happens with memory, and the loss of it, and a hopeful regain of it. You don't have good short term memory recall at all, unless you undergo substantial brain rehab to help you. I'm very glad he was able to make it work - but that did not come without extensive research in the subject.

Without the year round similar weather of Hawaii it would have been necessary for Lucy to realize something is wrong. Imagine crashing in summer, but you wake up to a snowy winter morning in Finland, or in Patagonia, with barely any more light than at night. You'd be so shocked with a winter storm howling around the gables of your house that you'd be forced to think you're insane, not being able to make the time jump in your mind.
