With a rod like that you need to set the hook in a different way. The tip is very flexible so if you set the hook with the normal way the tip bends and you don't set the hook nicely enough. You need to keep the rod pretty high near the arm pit almost. When you seet the hook you need to push the rod down instead of going upwards. If you do it correctly the tip goes up and sets the hook perfectly. In America is a rare rod to have but in italy where i live we use them to fish in rivers because is really flexible and we can use lines that are very very slim like a 0.10 (diameter) in the reel and 0.06 as the leader with 0.10g floats and size 26 hooks

We use that kind of rod in Ireland as a "Feeder" rod we put on things called "feeders" which are basically a weight that is on a thing that holds bait. We use them to catch nearly every species of fish in ireland beside pike, salmon etc..

i fished on one of those rods before, it is hilarious when u bring it out to a shore and cast 2 to 3 times further then people and catch fish on a carolina rig. really funny. fish i mainly target with is is trout mainly rainbows and cutthrouts

The 14ft rod would fit in your car if you just broke it down, I've never seen a cane pole that wasn't at least a 2 piece and I'm pretty sure around 10:40-10:45 you can see the spot where it detaches

best panfish lures are the size of a housefly. the hair jigs will catch a few sometimes, if they hit it right its a lot to get in their mouth. they would be better for crappie. or rock bass,otherwise known ass warmouth bass.the maggot size beetles. sinking flies, micro jigs if you can find them. the small mepps spinners work well. i had a lady bug lure once it looked like a ladybug. was very detailed, wish i could find those again. they crushed big bream.Bought it in a little country store in virginia in the middle of nowhere. man that was a fun lure. would sink real slow might twitch it back up a little but usually big bream would slam it as it was getting out of site. wish there was a gander near me. i could use a few of those 14 foot poles. they look awesome for crappie, and brim.

your not dumb bro that 14 ft. pole is a crappie pole , for straight jigging over/around timber and brush. i have a 13 and a 14, nice rods, setting is a breeze due to the length. Just a easy lift and their hooked!!!

I hit up Gander Mountain a few months ago and the deals sucked. They might be better now, but I also read up on what happens when liquidation companies come in and take over these going out of business sales. Basically, they mark up the original price of everything, then discount it, so you think you are getting a great deal, but what you paid isn't much less than the manufacturer's suggested retail price. Also, in Gander Mountain's case, some of them aren't closing, so the ones that are could ultimately just send their leftover merchandise to another location. I think you are right that the liquidation has something to do with them not wanting you filming. Might think you are going undercover to see how legit their sales are.
