@@JohnSmith-fq3rg you've listed great bands, obviously. Mr Bungle is one of my favorite Patton projects and I used to print out Cannibal Corpse album covers as a kid. Hell, Nine Inch Nails got me through my bleak period of heroin addiction; as did Alice in Chains and the like. But that was more of an interesting, fun type of dark for me. It was kind of another thing to hear a grown man break down cry for 10 minutes over being molested. That wasn't exactly what I had in mind as a kid. It's kind of like listening to A Crow Looked at Me as an adult. An album of a man grieving his late wife in an eerily direct and heartbreaking way. @@spiffy269 they’re legit one of the best and most influential metal bands ever
@JohnSmith-fq3rg3 жыл бұрын
@@spiffy269 Becoming boring and formulaic after the first 3 albums. They had two ok singles since then but they have long lost their energy and groove and it's all verse chorus verse chorus since then. They also lost their drummer because he didn't like playing to one tempo for their new producer so he could use protools more easily on the album. They couldn't speed up or slow down as the song went, that's part of why live shows always feel so "alive" I guess. So he left and the rythym never felt the same after that, and the new drummer just didn't write new parts quite the same, even if he could play the old ones. Alot about their sound is just way different in subtle ways, on paper the riffs seem similar but the songs aren't nearly as good, and most aren't worth listening to or buying the album for, atleast for me and my friends. Hearing the old songs live though is still pretty cool though.

@JohnSmith-fq3rg3 жыл бұрын
@@srmitch9260 Don't pretend that you get the same stuff out of their new albums that you did out of their first few. Changing is fine, of you change into something as good, or better; SOAD really changed their songwriting significantly on Hypnotize/Mezmorize when Darron started taking an even bigger role in songwriting and singing, but it was really good. David Bowie sounded different every 5 years, but fans really like most if not all of it. Korn just became formulaic, Davis doesn't sing quite like he used to, not like aging I mean he just chooses to after a certain point, they fired their best drummer, the started locking their tempo instead of letting it flow with the song, they stopped smoking crack before vocal sessions, they worked with Skrillex.

If he had any respect for John, he wouldn't cover it. Daddy isn't just a song. It's an experience. You see the problem with that? There are way too many songs that you can say the same exact thing about and then what happens is nobody is able to cover anything because let’s face it, music comes from emotions. But saying that you shouldn’t cover something because it’s a song about a horrific subject is just plain dumb. Top 50 Black Metal riffs, anyone?
@mr.weirdness59703 жыл бұрын
This just makes me realize, Korn really should release some instrumentals of their songs.
@ytpmv6662 ай бұрын
they kinda do, a lot of the singles have stems for people to make remix singles/eps of, it’s usually the big singles tho with the classic albums, but in recent years they’re a lot more generous giving out stems for pretty much full LPs (see you on the other side, korn iii, path of totality have stems available to the public).

Respect for doing the vocals on Daddy

Some of these riffs are a lot harder to execute than it’s seems. Both Head and Munky are very clean and move around the neck effortlessly. Some really creative and amazing sounding riffs there

Man you never cease to amaze me! Each 50 riffs video is pure gold, also great vocals right there, sometimes I thought it was real JD singing in the back hehe.

Being myself a long time Korn fan and an almost 5 years (already?) follower of your stuff, I must say that your vocals suit perfectly with Korn's style, more than any other I've watched you try to do. Thank you for doing Korn, I've been waiting for you to do it, and totally worth it.

the 7 string guitar he uses most in this video is a schecter reaper-7 multiscale. (For anybody who was wondering.)
